American Idol Top 6: Andrew Lloyd Webber Preview & Possible Song Spoilers

This already sounds a tad bit scary:

From the L.A. Times:

Although Lloyd Webber was barred “under pain of death” from revealing the song choices, he was allowed to speak of being struck by one moment in particular. “The girl who I was really quite impressed with was Brooke. She was really — I got something out of her. I mean, whether or not, you know, that is there at the end, I really couldn’t tell you.”

Lloyd Webber summed up the experience of watching the “Idol” cast perform his work. “I hear my songs all over the place, all over the world. You hear versions of them where they work, but they’re not necessarily what I would do if I were there and were able to have input to the artist, which is why it is quite interesting to have a bunch of kids singing my own music. Very strange choices some of them made as well.” He laughed. “But I’m not allowed to tell you about it.”

Well, here’s hoping if Kristy Lee gave Mariah “chills”, and Brooke is Webber’s favorite…well, you know what that means! Nary a blonde left in the bunch after Wednesday!

Very strange choices = Stoner J and D-Cook
(And yes, I’m looking forward to the strange choices more than any of the other crap, uh, cough, songs.)

As reported by both MJ and Rickey, Jason is rumored to do Memory and might be sick. Let’s hope he’s not sick, because I’m going to blame the Eunuch’s Father for any mysterious Idol ailments from here on out. And not that I don’t like Jason’s dreads, but both him and David Cook should stay away from any Cats songs because of their respective hairstyles.

Personally, I’m hoping Carly chooses a song from The Beautiful Game, which is the only ALW musical I’ve seen (although I have some familiarity with music from his other works through simple osmosis). It was never released in the U.S., but did play for a year in London’s West End (2000-2001). It’s all about footie-playing teenagers in Ireland who take separate paths in the late 60s and early 70s, meaning a few join the IRA and the others do not. It was actually quite enjoyable, but since few people know about it in these parts, it may not be the best, sigh, song choice. And I’m not suggesting this just because she’s Irish, just because I preferred the music and story more than other ALW musicals. However, Andrew Lloyd Webber suggested Smith is doing Jesus Christ Superstar.

With no more Japanese robots since Kristy Lee is gone, EW’s Idolatry can now splice in kitten, puppy and Gizmo videos for The Chosen Eunuch. (Not to mention Bambi for Brooke!) Like me, they also wonder if he can perform a song without words such as miracles, hope, heaven, angels and Jesus. I’ll most likely need a stiff drink when The Chosen Eunuch and Brooke perform this evening.

Apparently, the Chosen Eunuch will be performing Think of Me (from The Phantom of the Opera), according to some postings on the Idol forums (courtesy of MJ’s Big Blog). And supposedly, Supermercado is going first, which means the producers figure her time is up. Brooke will doing You Must Love Me (from Evita), no Brooke, I will never love you. Syesha is doing One Rock & Roll Too Many (from Starlight) which I am not immediately familiar with, but does that mean its not a ballad? And David Cook will be performing the well-known Music of The Night. Interesting to see what he does with that one. I hope he doesn’t wear a Phantom mask, though, that would be really stupid.
