Remember Good Ol’ Bucky? He’s gonna be in Hannah Montana!

June 6, 2008

I’ve always really liked Bucky Covington. Can’t really explain why, but he just seemed like a genuine kind of guy. And Magnum made a bunch of money off of him in some betting pool during Season 5 and actually ran into him in Vegas the following weekend after he was booted. He told him that he made money off of him, too, and Bucky was really cool about it. So see? Bucky Covington is a NICE guy.

I actually listened to a few samples of his album off ITunes several months ago and was somewhat impressed, even though I don’t listen to country all the time. But it was good, kind of what country “should” be. In my opinion, it definitely deserved the accolades it received from the music press.

Anyway, while former contestants like that Greasy Constantine have been reduced to doing community theater in New Jersey, playing in benefit shows led by some other reality TV castoff AND scaring the crap out of innocent, helpless canines, Bucky is still plugging away and getting some legitimate gigs. (Why? Because Bucky Covington is likable and does not permeate your soul with a nasty chlamydia stare that will force you running to your doctor for strong antibiotics!)

In fact, Bucky will be appearing in the upcoming Hannah Montana movie! And well, you know that Miley Cyrus / Hannah Montana is pretty popular so its a guaranteed moneymaker.

From Reality TV Magazine:

Bucky Covington, who finished in eighth place on the fifth season of American Idol, is going to appear in the new Hannah Montana movie. After his American Idol run, Bucky Covington moved to Nashville, Tennessee and signed with Lyric Street Records.

Bucky Covington’s self-titled debut album was produced by Mark Miller of Sawyer Brown, and the album was an instant hit with both media critics and fans. In fact, the album had the best opening week debut for an album by a male country artist since Billy Ray Cyrus’ Some Gave All album.

Interestingly enough, it was Billy Ray Cyrus himself, who extended a personal invitation for Bucky Covington to appear in the Hannah Montana movie that is currently filming in the Nashville, Tennessee area.

“I’ve never been on a movie set so I don’t know what to expect,” said Bucky Covington. “I’ve always been a big fan of Billy Ray’s music and it really is an honor for him to ask me to be a part of what is sure to be the biggest movie released next year.

Bucky Covington will be appearing as a musician in the movie along with fellow Lyric Street Recording artist Marcel. The song Backwards, which was written by Marcel and Tony Mullins will also be featured in the movie. Hannah Montana: The Movie, starring Miley Cyrus and Billy Ray Cyrus, is scheduled to be released in theaters in 2009.

Yay, Bucky! Congratulations! And Top Idol has always loved ya, which may not mean much, but its the intent that matters.
