Sluggish Global Economy Won’t Stop Castro Family

September 20, 2008

Photobucket

(BIG BIG BIG Thanks to Unravel for this EXCELLENT Photoshop! Bless you in the name of the Savior, Jason Cashtro!)

Oh, it never ends. Betsy Castro, Stoner J’s peach of a mother, keeps whoring her son out to his ever-devoted, if dwindling groups of fantards. Just recently, she sent a 15-year-old fan cease & desist letter. Why? Because the logo this teenager designed is being used on merchandise and the family can’t profit off this stuff…not to mention no where on the “merchandise” is Stoner J’s name used. Perhaps they could have licensed the rights? Paid the teenager for designing the logo? Anyway…

Here’s one of Betsy’s latest posts on the new, family-created fansite/forum (And of course, for around $30, you can get “VIP access” and some crappy fan trinkets):

OMG I’ve missed you guys!

Okay, so what have I been up to! About 6′ into boxes and boxes! I am so excited for all the letters and emails I’ve gotten, and so glad some of you have warned me not to read certain things floating around…Some of you concerned about my feelings…thanks! REALLY! I can’t imagine what they’ve said but I’m so glad I’ve met a lot of you and you, who really count, know there is no truth to the ugliness going aroud. Life’s to short to be so miserable! And the support y’all have shown me over at JCM and the fan club and board…it is simply breathtaking…and those of you who have ordered tables for the Patti LaBelle/Jason performance…you have impressed Mr. Reimer…he’s worried Ms. LaBelles group is not going to get any tables if they don’t hurry! He is going to give us the opportunity to do a pre-sell of the other tickets on Oct 1 or 2nd for fanclub memebers, so I’ll keep you posted

Okay, on a very happy note! I am so excited to say Mr Jason Castro is having the week of his life. He has hooked up with some of the most amazing writers and I must say y’all are in for an amazing treat! He is totally frustrated at not having internet connection and limited cell phone connection, but I think that is great…gives him more time to focus on the music and that he has done! Jackie is already getting on his case about posting an update so I know that’s coming, or else…well you know how annoying, ahemm, I mean influential little sisters can be…

In about an hour I’m going to see a proof for a t-shirt we’ve been working on with Jasons pic on it. Hope it turns out good cause I’ve been to about 3 printers and they have difficulty reproducing a good print that requires 4 color process..anyway…It has been so exciting…exhausting, but so exciting, oh and the darn cling ons we all wanted.. they can do them tl be place on the outside of the window not inside and I haven’t had time to look into the inside version, but I promise that is on the top of my list, well at least on one of the list!! I’ll try to post more often now that I’ve found my corner!

Take care y’all and thanks for all the encouragement! And thanks for the patience of those of you waiting for your JCM # and merchandise, if you orderd and XL we ran out but the come in today so I will ship those out this afternoon, and I think that’s all…I’m going to cut back on the caffeine now cause I’m hyper!

TTYS

Betsy Castro is begging the fans to buy shit. Money! Give us more money! Stoner J is in L.A.! But he doesn’t have mobile service or Wi-Fi. Uh…ok. Even homeless bums in Los Angeles have cell phones, but apparently Stoner J is in some dead zone where his iPhone nor fan-purchased Macbook works. Perhaps he, too, is a greedy bastard. Or maybe he just wants to distance himself from his crazy-ass fanbase, even if it means walking into a tree. Who cares? Let’s talk about the grifting Castros and their sycophantic friends!

Betsy Castro is hawking tickets to some Patti LaBelle Christmas dinner and Castrofans are snapping up tickets left and right. This little holiday concert is some sort of charity event, sponsored by a credit union. They’re even going to fly in. Guess their savior is playing for 45 minutes and staying for the grub. Sherry is generous enough to take Castrofans’ cash for the Patti LaBelle tables, including those tables worth $3500 — Even the most expensive table listed on the site is $1000, tickets go on sale October 3rd, and $3500 is supposedly a “corporate sponsorship” but none of that information is listed. (Although there IS a website clearly listed on the event’s marketing materials, it doesn’t include Dreadhead-specific events where the Savior may happen to “show up”.) Of course, there are supposedly at least 10 fans named Sherry. There’s the one who collected money for the gift card, the one who bought the Macbook…I mean, I’m beginning to think that chances are, if you know a person named Sherry, they’re sending money to Jason Castro and his family.

If anyone questions the motives of the family or sycophantic friends, they are basically told to go to hell. One of the biggest sycophants (re: most generous), RQ, likes to feed them some Xenu-esque babble:

Just wanted to add some “food for thought” here and say, we don’t always know what’s going on “behind the scences” that would create this need.  Not everyone is a Dreadhead and not everyone is living under the Peace, Love and Dreadheads bubble.  As we all know there have been tons of art work, photography, etc of Jason, if just 1 person made an issue over it, all work would have to cease.  Hang in there peeps, there’s no doubt in my mind as to Jasons love and dedication to his fanbase.  There is NO other idol whose fans mostly have pictures with their idol.  He has bent over backwards making us happy on this tour, all the way from Az. to Tulsa, the last meet and greet after he was done he came over to the glass window again because he saw that there were more Dreadheads there.  Never doubt his love for us.

(Woman, learn how to spell. You’re talking about seances now?)

These people are batshit crazy. Even David Cook is finding it difficult to be nice to these whack jobs.

If the family and their cohorts aren’t trying to milk the fans, perhaps they should take themselves out of the situation. Hire some professionals. Don’t do it themselves with publicity help from a woman whose previous experience in PR most likely involved promoting her daughter’s spirt squad bake sale. Sure, hiring a pro may cost a few bucks, but don’t you want this guy to have a singing career? Or do you want him to be a face on a t-shirt?

UPDATE:

If Castrofans are so charitable, maybe they should help out one of their own. Of course, I don’t think this fan should be concerned about PayPal-ing money for a concert at the moment.

I can’t pay now because I already payed so much on the Tulsa trip. Plus, I came home to the very harsh reality of IKE and I am losing sooo much money now and I have to apply to FEMA, which is something I never thought I would ever of had to do. But I WILL be at the concert and I do want a $1,000 table. Will it be too late if it takes a couple of weeks to paypal the money?

Sherry, stop lusting after a boy young enough to be your grandson.

    Boy Howdy!
That’s one of the reasons why I backed away from that group of fans. It’s sick that grown women (i.e. over 40) post and “squee” over pictures of a young man’s area between his knees and waist.
I do not want to be affiliated with a group such as that.

darkness, that was a question, not a statement. Do you really think people were given a fake picture of Jason with the letter to make people think he got the gift card? I asked a question-didn’t make a claim.

I am trying to get true answers regarding this gift card issue. Claiming the picture and letter is fake is not an answer to the situation. It’s just your opinion.

Why yes I did Joey. Thanks for asking.

Nothing above show proof that a gift card was given to Jason or the money was returned to the contributors.

“What happened to the gift card?” Good question!

My Daughter gave money with a friend towards the
    gift card.

When the gift card thread was taken down and no mention of said gift card given to Jason. She asked me to look into it for her.

A message was sent to said gift card giver. The response to me was that the gift card was not given to him and all money was returned to all.

After further research, No money was returned to the friends paypal account.

This gives me cause to question what happened to the gift card or the money?

Well I see there’s a real short attention span on this site -again proving my point. You are over zealous fans picking on over zealous fans. Try to have a decent debate and you freak out and start sqwawking “Sherry”, “Sherry”, “Sherry”. No one could give a straight answer when faced with a simple question. Not one of you! I had hope there for a minute that something could actually be discussed here. You are small minded, finger pointing haters and you’re not going to budge even when faced with some points to ponder. Shame on you. Enjoy your miserable existences.

“What happened to the gift card?”

    Excellent question.

It’s strange that Sherry knew she had upset fans when she staged a date night video and then when Jason thanked a “Sherry” for his macbook, she came under fire again. These 2 incidents should have been enough to teach her to keep a low-profile, but no, she puts herself front and center again to collect money for the gift card, so she can hand it to Jason herself in Tulsa. Sherry, I’m sure you’re reading this, WTF were you thinking? Why put yourself in the spotlight over and over again and then cry about people talking about you?

Top Idol-you are next. You jumped on the B&N bus – amendments from you as well please.

ImAFan, I don’t have to make any amendments. All I ever said was that a fan named Sherry was collecting money for the event. You can read exactly what I wrote above. AND you can see in the comments thread where I clearly ASKED people to give me more information regarding the Barnes & Noble sponsorship. NEVER did I say anything was written in stone…I was merely posing the question as to why something was advertised as costing $10-1000 yet people were paying $3500 before tickets went on sale to the public.

I posed a question. Just as I am posing one now:

What happened to the gift card?

I think that one of the problems here is that people are confusing answers to one person’s posts with another persons. Muppet, because you are easiest to answer first, you inferred that Sherry was doing something wrong – using B&N name to scalp tickets. It was nice of you to amend it, when you found out. Unfortunately you jumped to conclusions before checking the facts which happens a lot with fans who can’t wait to rip apart other fans. But I will sit with you and use the flames to roast marshmallows if you want. Top Idol-you are next. You jumped on the B&N bus – amendments from you as well please. Sane Fan, I think you are skirting the issue. You have strong opinions, yet don’t answer when pressed blatant questions. But I’ll accept that and ask you if there’s another issue in particular you’d like to discuss. We can’t cover all of them at once, so one at a time please. The B&N table is covered (dismally by you) so what topic do you want to discuss?

Imafan, if you would read the posts, you’ll see that I was the one who brought up the Barnes & Noble issue. I admit I originally accused Sherry, but amended later to say that it wasn’t her. I just wondered what Barnes & Noble would think about charity seats being scalped in their name. You asked me what right I had to know and I said I didn’t have a right, I just thought the people who may have bought seats at a table they may not be allowed to have had the right. Any rebuttals to this post will be ignored and flames will be used to roast marshmallows.

I’m not familiar enough with the Barnes and Noble issue to comment on it. I don’t know anything about these corporate sponsorships. TopIdol said Sherry was collecting funds to buy tables and that does appear to be true since it’s her e-mail/paypal address that’s being used.

If people are saying Sherry has something to do with Barnes and Noble and she doesn’t then I can’t go along with that. Just like I can’t go along with the claim that she bought Jason a Mac. I can see why people may be suspicious but there’s no proof so I don’t think anyone should ever state it as a fact.

Unfortunately for Sherry she called a lot of attention to herself and none of it was good. When you do that you run the risk that people are going to associate you with trouble. After the gift card disaster the fact that Sherry, or Sherry’s paypal address is being used to collect funds for the tables was enough to create a problem. Is that entirely fair? No. But it’s not entirely unexpected either.

And for the record, I think the only people who are entitled to an explanation of what happened to the gift card money are people who contributed to the fund. If they are satisfied, so am I.

Okay, I’ll type real slow for you so you can read it. The Barnes and Noble table. Sherry was accused of using their name to sponsor a table. Top Idol jumped on the bandwagon and said he’d investigate. Rude comments about Sherry were made. The truth came out and Sherry wasn’t the one sponsoring the Barnes and Noble table. These overzealous fans of overzealous fans were wrong about it. How do you feel about these ans treating Sherry that way? No one corrected themselves when the truth came out. THAT is why I say they do harm. They DID harm. So it’s not just the overzealous fans, it’s the overzealous fan haters that cause problems. My point made as simple as I can make it. My question: How do you feel about Sherry being treated that way? Did she deserve it because she’s an overzealous fan so she’s fair game for any accusations – true or not?

Ma’am, short of you calling my mother a whore I’m not sure what you could say that would really upset me. I just don’t understand how you can think one person is responsible for every post on the internet related to this issue.

I thought I addressed your concerns but I’ll do it again.

    Point #1.
I don’t know who is sponsoring the tables at the December concert. I’ve never posted on that subject.

    Point #2.
Overly exuberant fans can make it more difficult for an artist to be taken seriously in the music industry. That’s why I’m concerned about it. I’ve seen this happen to other Idols and hopefully it won’t happen to Jason.

I understand that you think fans like me are the problem because I disagree with you but it’s impossible for fans to agree on every issue in a large fandom. There are going to be disagreements and they aren’t the source of the problem. Even if every fan of Jason had agreed with Sherry’s cash card idea and contributed to the card it wouldn’t have changed all the criticism of the card that came up. It wouldn’t have changed anything.

Sane Fan, you, too, are ignoring my questions. I asked you how you felt about being accused of something you are not guilty of. And wondered how you felt about the accusations of Sherry being the B&N sponsor for a table at the upcoming concert. Yet, you didn’t answer that. You are blabbing on and on and didn’t answer the question. I also think you are reading my responses to others and thinking that I am speaking to you. So here is what I said to you:on September 25, 2008
Sane Fan – I wonder how it feels to be accused of something you are innocent of. Frustrating, huh? Not real good, huh? Welcome to the club. How do you think Sherry feels being accused of being the Barnes and Noble sponsor and trying to pull some sort of scam. If you will read these posts, even Top Idol got in on it, saying he was contacting Barnes and Noble. And guess what? You were all wrong. It’s a lady who calls herself Dare2Dream who’s doing it. Ooops … Anyone admitting they made a mistake. NO! You go on ridiculing without a second glance backwards. My problem is and has been overzealous fans (like those on this page) who are accusing other fans of actions when they have no proof of those actions. When proof to the contrary appears, there’s no comment. I am concerned that you feel you have to change my mind to think like you do. Why can’t I change your mind to think like I do? You criticize me because you can’t change me mind-it works both ways. Let’s try to find some common ground and talk about the issue of Barnes and Noble. Then you can pick the next subject.

So far all I’ve seen on here today is people ignoring the honest questions and comparisons. You don’t want Jason open to criticism, but it is coming from fans like those who are posting here. They are the ones doing the criticizing and they are causing the problem. It’s obvious from the responses here on this very page. Sherry’s (just one example and I hope to move on to more) been attacked for something that she didn’t do by overzealous fans with this B&B thing – THESE FANS ARE THE ONES WHO ARE CAUSING PROBLEMS! Maybe if the fans could get along, we wouldn’t be so subject to ridicule! But that little group of you just can’t let it go. Can you tell me why? How is this helping Jason? You blame overzealous fans for hurting his career, yet you guys are so overzealously outspoken against them that you are causing your own set of problems.

I have no idea who is sponsoring them. And I was careful to say that I don’t know who gave Jason a Mac. But I guess as far as you are concerned the point is moot since you think I’m making every post on the internet related to these issues.

My only concern with overzealous fans like Sherry is that their actions open Jason up to criticism. Frankly I don’t think this is entirely fair. Jason has no control over what his fans do. But overly exuberant fans can make it more difficult for a musician to be taken seriously. I’ve seen that happen to other Idols. There is more focus on their fans than there is on their music. In my opinion that is not a good thing.

The bottom line is that I don’t think Jason has done anything wrong. He has never asked for anything from his fans and has been nothing but kind to everyone. I think he is very talented and hopefully the focus will change when he gets some music out. All his fans want him to have a long and successful career even if they don’t agree on every issue.

Oh, Rachel, get a grip. And go check your facts. Dare2Dream is sponsoring the Barnes and Nobles table. Sherry is sponsoring a different one. Yes, Rachel, it’s obvious that you are stalking Sherry. You post about her constantly. You the the overzealous fan type that I am talking about. Why is it controversial for her to sponsor tables? Is it controversial for Barnes and Noble? AT&T? No, just Sherry because you and people like you make it that way. She has a right to sponsor as many fucking tables as she wants to. YOU are making the controversy. She is down as anonymous for sponsoring tables – you did the research to find it out. She tried to keep it quiet, so stop badmouthing her for exposing herself. YOU exposed her.

  33. Rachel permalink
    September 25, 2008 3:23 pm

Dare2Dream is the one publicly posting about the VIP tables, but the “anonymous sponsor” is Sherry. Her Paypal email (ptl@sbcglobal.net) is being used for at least 2, perhaps 3, VIP tables. Here’s a quote from Sherry for the Visa gift card collection: “Money can be donated to me through my Paypal (PTL@sbcglobal.net) and it will be given by a group of us (everyone’s welcome to be a part) at the Tulsa concert.”

If Sherry is so upset about how people are bad-mouthing her, why does she keep putting herself in the center of these controversies? She’s met Jason on several occasions. Why expose herself again at the Garland concert in such a high-profile way (paying for VIP tables)?

Sane Fan and I aren’t the same person. Imafan assumes there is one person in the universe offering an opinion different than hers.

TopIdol said it best “You guys say it’s all about the music but that’s a load of horseshit. You guys just compete with one another to see who can get closer to Stoner J and his family.”

    Exactly.

I will admit it here. I enjoyed Jason on American Idol. He has a pleasant singing voice and I thought he brought something new to the show. But the dreadheads are absolutely fanatical in how they’re shoving people out of the way to get to him, likening him to Jesus Christ, and kissing up to his family even though his mom has made some big fucking mistakes.

If Mommy Dearest stayed off the boards, that would help Jason enormously. Also the fans, who claim to truly care about Jason, should stop all the fundraising because it makes him look bad to constantly be taking money and expensive gifts. Can’t they just enjoy a musician without taking things to an extreme with gifts, endless myspace plays (artificially jacking up his numbers which isn’t fooling any record exec), and all the Sooner rah-rah crap? The way his budding career has been handled is amateurish and it’s turning most people off.

I like the fact that people comment, and it this is a forum where people can OPENLY DISAGREE and CHALLENGE each other, so be it. It’s more than you can do on 99% of these fan boards.

You want me to say something nice about Jason’s fans? I think most of Jason’s fans are very nice people. Maybe I should have been more clear about that. There are a few fans who I think are overzealous and they’ve caused problems. That is just my constitutionally protected opinion though and nothing a fan does should ever reflect on Jason. It should just reflect on the fan.

The only other problem I could point to is something you’ve shown me yourself. Total intractability. Your mind is made up and you’re not even close to flexible on any issue. That’s your prerogative but it makes any further discussion useless.

ImAFan, why are you calling every person who posts a dissenting comment Robyn? Who is Robyn? And is she the only “dissenting” fan in Castroland?

Everyone is entitled to their own opinions. Why do I have a problem with these Idol fan groups and forums? Because people get OBSESSIVE and gang up against those who don’t agree. They go after them and then others join up and do the same without any hesitation because they cannot think for themselves.

There are tons of posts on DDB that start with “Oh, I don’t know if I should say this” or “I hope I’m not banned”. What kind of “free-thinking” forum is that?

You guys say its all about the music but that’s a load of horseshit. You guys just compete with one another to see who can get closer to Stoner J and his family. If someone disagrees with your actions, then they’re basically scorned and ridiculed.

You know what singer I hate? JOHN MAYER. John Mayer is one of the biggest douches on the planet. I do have a few friends that own all his albums. While I tell them I think he’s a douche, I don’t tell them to go to hell or end our friendship. Because its a frakking SINGER, for chrissake.

And even for artists I do like, I don’t always LIKE EVERYTHING THEY DO. That’s life. But if someone in your fan group says, “Hey, wait a minute, I didn’t really like that _____”, they’re torn to bits and told they’re “not supporting Jason or the Castros”.

The things I read sometimes remind me of stories told by ex-Scientologists. Really. It’s not that far off.

You guys promote “peace, love and music” or something like that, right? Peace, love and music — as long as it subscribes to the party agenda.

You said you read your posts-just for argument’s sake, go back and read the ones where you used “Sane Jason Fan” (don’t bother with the other names you used) and list all the compliments you’ve given his fans. Oh, wait, that will be a short list because there aren’t any. How about you make a list with the insults you posted about his fans? Oh, never mind, you are in denial. You’ve made accusations you can’t support, how about a list of those? Oh, that’s right you can’t take responsibility for what you’ve said. That’s to be expected from someone like you. Yes, the posts here speak for themselves. HATERS UNITE!

    Ditto what Sane Fan said.

I have read my posts. Everything I post about comes from public message boards or blogs. I have the same information that everyone else who posts here has.

I guess you don’t like the way I structure my sentences. Well, here I go again. ‘I want Jason’ to be judged on his music and not fan behavior. That’s just my opinion. Everyone is allowed to have an opinion. You certainly have plenty. Is it wrong to hope that? I hope not. As for ripping apart his fans, I don’t even begin to know how to address that one. No one can reasonably address a bunch of unreasonable accusations.

Our posts are both up here and everyone can read them. I’ll have to leave it to others to decide who is strange and scary.

Whether your name is Rachel, Robyn, Sam or Zelda, your behaviour is bizzare! Go back and read your posts here. Or did your other personality write them? Why are you stalking fans, researching their personal lives and posting about it? Why can’t you stop bitching about things that fans did a long time ago? Cuckoo cuckoo. Why do you start your sentences “I want Jason”, “I think Jason.” It’s not about you and what you want. Ripping apart his fans will bring him closer to you? Or make him a more popular artist. You are scary. Strange and scary.

I don’t even understand what you’re accusing me of. I can’t figure out what you’re talking about. You have it in your head that I’m someone I’m not.

So far, you’ve accused me of being someone I’ve never heard of and of doing a bunch of things I haven’t done and don’t even understand – all because I don’t agree with you. I’ll have to leave it other people to decide who is acting batshit crazy.

And what about your abnormal behaviour? Your stalking of fans? You didn’t address those issues. You’ve already mady TONS of empty accusations that you can’t prove and you talk about me? Are you truly insane? That’s the only explanation I can come up with for your off the wall, over the top, bat shit crazy behaviour. Get some help before your actually hurt someone.
