Another Good Egg Says Goodbye

September 27, 2008

There are few people on the planet who I feel inspire even half the devotion exhibited by rabid American Idol fans.

Unfortunately, we’ve lost one of those rare individuals. As you’ve already heard, Paul Newman died yesterday after losing his battle with cancer.

Sure he was hot. Yes, he was an incredible actor. But Paul Newman was also an amazing person. Even in an age when charitable actions are very fashionable for celebrities, this man was devoted to much more than a good photo op. He actually gave a shit about helping people. And he didn’t do so in a cloying, save-the-world kind of way. He just did it.

Between Paul Newman and Tim Russert (yes, I’m still broken up about losing Tim, especially in an election year such as this), I actually feel like shedding a tiny tear for humanity.

Great actor. Good guy. Newman really put his money and his effort into actually helping people (and animals) out, unlike many celebrities who talk a good game, but really don’t do shit.

RIP, Paul. You’re officially one of the good dead ones now.

What a great actor. “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid” one of my all time favorite movies.

Amen!! to everything you said. I missed Tim Russert when he died because objective and good news died with him.

And a one-of-a-kind man like Newman will never come around again.

Our world is less brighter with both of these men gone.

All of the Newman’s Own profits went to charity. Pretty amazing, right?

The man was a GREAT egg 😦

I was at petsmart on Monday and saw that Paul had a line of dog food and treats made me think if his line of dog food profits went to help out animals in need. I knew of the food company’s profits are donated to charities.
    He was a good egg

Rest in peace Paul. You were one in a million stars. Your legacy of philanthropy will live on for many years because of the private way you gave. We have truly lost a great man.
