American Idol Top 7 Theme: Idols at the Movies…with QUENTIN TARENTINO
This could be the greatest episode of American Idol ever.
Or it could really suck, so you know, nothing really changes. But Quentin Tarentino as the guest mentor? This should pretty much ensure entertaining rehearsal scenes, plus, I am excited La Princesa del Mariachi will now be this much closer to meeting Richard Rodriguez.
(I had no idea he was a guest judge during Season 3, btw. But I didn’t watch the show then, however, I am still a tad bit disappointed I didn’t know this completely useless nugget of pop culture lore.)
From MJ’s Big Blog and a Fox press release:
Next week, the Top 7 finalists – Kris Allen, Anoop Desai, Matt Giraud, Danny Gokey, Allison Iraheta, Adam Lambert and Lil Rounds – take the stage Tuesday, April 14 (8:00-9:01 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed) to perform songs of the cinema under the guidance of director Quentin Tarantino in an Idols at the Movies themed performance show.
Tune in the following night Wednesday, April 15 (9:00-10:00 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed) to find out if the judges use their save or if America sends another finalist home. Also, Season Three finalist Jennifer Hudson returns to the IDOL stage to perform her new single, “If This Isn’t Love,” and Miley Cyrus will sing “The Climb” from “Hannah Montana: The Movie.”
Although this does make me kind of sad now that Megan Joy and Blind Guy are gone. Tarantino could have done soooo much with them and frankly, I doubt he’s going to get Not-So-Lil-Ass to discover her inner Vernita Green, but hey, I like movie songs and Tarantino can be fun so…you know, I got higher hopes for next week’s shit show now.
Oh. And just because I like you, here is a clip of Tarentino playing an Elvis Impersonator on The Golden Girls. (He’s in the back row and wearing the tan blazer.)
I want Adam to sing “Crying Game” – the only negative is that it’s another depressing funereal dirge and it looks like he’s on schedule for another fun/fast song.
OH SCORE
2 words:
ADAM SINGS BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY.
… oh wait… that was 4 words…
couldn’t help myself 😛
Kara’s NEVER gonna hear the last of this. and that’s the way it should be.
I cannot wait to see this. What’s the betting Lil is gonna reach for “I Will Always Love You”?
