No good famous senior citizens remain on this planet

April 26, 2009

Today, I was on vacation.

Then I found out Bea Arthur died.

And then I wanted to curl up into the fetal position and cry. Although I thought to myself, no, that is not what Bea would want.

So I slammed back some Captain Morgan and called my mother and yelled at her, with love in my voice, of course.

Bea, I love you, And I will always miss you.

Bea Arthur died and it makes me sad

If I believed in that stuff, she was my co-pilot on all those freeways. Bea Arthur. I will always miss you.

At my other job outside of Top Idol comment posting–which I won’t name drop here–I took advantage of my far-reaching platform and audience to write a brief tribute post to Bea Arthur. It was the least I could do.

Fun fact: Bea Arthur had a funny cameo in Mel Brooks’ History of the World, Part 1.

Of course she would be deserving of one. She was in the Star Wars Holiday Special! 🙂

(The very reason I assume George Lucas probably rues the internet.)

Excellent tribute. Bea Arthur was a geek! And the patron saint of “oddballs” everywhere. Plus, I tend to have a natural affinity to other woman who possess “husky” voices. Us with deep voices and XX chromosomes have to stick together.

So that leaves Rue McClanahan and Betty White as the only survivors from the “Golden Girls” cast ?

The past year’s death pool has left me a shell of my former self.

Tim Russert. Paul Newman. Bea Arthur.

I am going to pretend they are all frozen. This, and Bea YouTubes, should get me through the next week.
