Anti-gay protesters make asses of themselves outside Idol Tour in Kansas City

August 30, 2009

A bunch of ignorant asshats protested the American Idol show in Kansas City tonight.

Not because American Idol sucks, mind you, but because they’re OBVIOUSLY promoting gay people. (See: Adam Lambert)

If you feel the need to protest an American Idol concert because one of the performers is gay, you have serious issues. Get a grip and get a life. If there is a God, he made gay people…just like he made you as dumb as a box of dildos.

Jesus thinks you suck.

Not true. If god had meant for there to be gay people, he would’ve made Adam and Steve. Fail.

The “I don’t see it, so it doesn’t exist” argument is the most ridiculous one of all. You have no insight into reality. Go paint “Adam Rulez” in puffy glitter paint on a t-shirt and leave the grownups alone.

So who is being made fun of for hopelessly straight behavior? Where can I see it? You can’t answer it, that’s why you have to resort to childish insults.

Who is being made fun of for hopelessly straight behavior? I just don’t see people in general making fun of straight people for being “too straight”. They just don’t do it. I’ve seen Adam being called a “fat gay” on sites like Idletard. They often call Michael Sarver fat, but have they ever called him a “fat straight”? No. For some reason, for some people, “gay” insult is still socially acceptable.

Interesting that you only defend white people, Gene. How come you’re not jumping up to defend Terrell Owens against the diva label?

You don’t get it. That’s fine. Jeff Foxworthy, Larry the Cable Guy, Kathy Griffin, Margaret Cho, they all make fun of hopelessly straight behavior. If you were ever to run around with a pack of gay men, you would hear them doing it, too. It’s Humor, satire, whatever you want to call it. It’s not intended to hurt someone. It’s not making fun of someone BECAUSE of his or her orientation. So, if you don’t get the joke, move on.

“I still make fun of his over-the-top gayness. ”

I don’t see people making fun of some straight guy because he is “too straight”. People are free to dislike all they want, but when they make snide comments that are clearly derived from internalized hetero-sexism, then that’s a different issue.

Not saying anything about liking or disliking….someone had never heard of him (or claimed not to…don’t see how that’s possible) Also trying to demonstrate how that the term” diva” can apply to a heterosexual man.

T.O. may be a “diva”, but I have to agree with freedavidcook…..he is quite smokin’ hot.

These are the people that will burn in hell because god loves ALL period. It doesnt say no homos and i always felt like it it wasnt ment to be it wouldnt be. So I generally dont judge but this bs is the reason that the people that are gay kill themselves becuz they cannot handle not being accepted someone being gay does not neccessarily affect their personality trust me…I have my attractions to particular females I do not engage but I am still a bytch sometime and that doesnt change it. When will Americans get it? Land of the free home of the brave…no where does it say except for gay people. Tell me why people always forget that the constitution was written by the wealthy and educated and the whole gay thing wasnt known? I mean duhhhh… I feel bad for these people those protesters will burn christians are not sposed to judge!!!

Ah, the Westboro peeps…what a bunch of crazy twatwaffles. That’s what happens when you marry your relatives. They came to my state once, to stand on the side of the street and protest (can’t remember what), and a counterprotest was set up that outnumbered them by hundreds.
Oh, and TopIdol…remember that post awhile back where you said you thought most Adam fans probably don’t know any gay people? Well I think “Gene” here is one of those fans.

          Gene,

As an out gay man, let me say to you–How DARE you presume to have ANY insight into who is being homophobic and who is not! There is a big diference between making fun of someone who is gay and making fun of someone BECAUSE they are gay. There is nothing inherently insulting about calling Adam “Madam”. He would probably think it’s funny himself, since he seems to have a sense of humor about himself. And I seriously take issue with anyone who thinks that people like Topidol,Idletard or VFTW are in any way homophobic. They are equal-opportunity put-dwn artists. If you think too much of yourself, they’re there to put you in your place. Plus, many of the contributors, site administrators and moderators of these sites are gay men themselves, so how do you know that the N-word analogy that you used is not in play? You like Adam. That’s cool. I do too, but I still make fun of his over-the-top gayness. GURRRLLL, when he sang “believe” by Cher, I knew he was family!.

Really, have a sense of humor.

Must be Westboro Baptist Church again. Those people are just sick. They protest at the funerals of soldiers killed in Iraq/Afghanistan because America tolerates homosexuality or something stupid like that. It’s not even a church – just Pastor Fred Phelps and his inbred family. It would be best to just ignore them because attention is what they are looking for.

Did they? Really? I hadn’t heard that – though I expected it. Phelps is certifiable (as is the rest of his Klan). Ever notice how much he looks like the actor who played the evil preacher in Poltergeist 2? I even wrote about it a couple years back (Where the Crazy Are Given Credence). I called Phelps a carbuncle on the ass of life. Did you know he instituted a jihad against Sweden a few years back (as in the country)? Why? Who the fuck knows? The man’s cheese became separated from its cracker so long ago they no longer have even a nodding acquaintance. I’m really sorry to hear he targeted Kennedy. My husband has an uncle buried at Arlington. Anyone disturbing the rest of those honored dead deserves to have their birthday taken away.

Ok…this is the deal. It’s nothing personal. “Madam” is a play on the “diva” OTT nature of his performances not his sexual preference.

Ummm, and yeah Kris’s sexuality has been made fun of aplenty.

        @deez

“Madam” and “Diva” refers to a woman. No matter how a man acts, or what his sexual orientation is, he’s still a man. When makes a negative reference to man’s effeminateness it’s based on societal
presumptions that there’s some moral/correct way to act when in reality there is nothing right or wrong with how effeminiate a person is. It’s a sign of the homophobic undertones that still dominate our society.

Who is making a fun of Kris’s sexuality? What are they saying about it?

        • TopIdol permalink

Gene, well then, what does it mean when say, a gay man refers to another gay man as “she”? I hear this often, and not just referring to drag queens.

Madam is really more of a term of endearment or affection, per se, and I doubt he would take any issue with it.

The fact is that only haters are calling him “Madam”. I’m talking about those who are using it as in insult in the first place. Some black people use the word “nigger” to bond with each other. But if someone who hates a black person call him “nigger”, that would be considered racism.

        • deez permalink
          August 31, 2009 10:58 am

“Madam” is his nickname on this blog. All the contestants had one (HBD, La Princesa, Mormon Joy, etc) It is a play on his name for the most part. It could also be a play on his ability to hit high notes, and his stage persona in general. It is in NO way because he is gay. If that were the case and it was a gay slur(and we were all homophobes), why wouldn’t Top Idol refer to NPH as “Madam”? (because it wouldn’t make sense!) It is not about the fact that he’s gay…it’s not even derogatory. (Madam and the “n” word are not in any way related enough to form an analogy around) Plenty of hetero men are referred to by the word “diva”. Any male in sports that is seen as being “high maintenance” is called that. (Terrell Owens, A-Rod, Iverson, etc) If you would prefer to be offended, no-one can stop you, but something offensive can be drawn from just about anything…if you look closely enough.

As far as Kris goes, about six months ago, a bunch of pictures surfaced of him and college buddies. Some of them were touchy-feely, so yeah….there was plenty of “fun-pokage”. No big deal…they WERE funny. Some thin-skinned types were offended by that as well. Whatever.

‘As far as Kris goes, about six months ago, a bunch of pictures surfaced of him and college buddies. Some of them were touchy-feely, so yeah….there was plenty of “fun-pokage”. No big deal…’

So are the people who call T.O. a “diva” referring to his sexuality?

          No.

People get “hated on” for all sorts of reasons. Believe it or not, some people may simply not care for Adam or his style of music. You take it as an insult because you are an Adam fan. His fans call him “Glittery Alien from Planet Fierce.” Are you going to try to tell me that has absolutely NO gay connotations???

“Madam” is way less “gay” than that…..are the Glamberts homophobes as well?

Who is T.O.? Is “DIVA” his nickname? Do His fans use it as a term of endearment? TopIdol said; “Madam is really more of a term of endearment or affection”. That’s just not true. Some fans call Adam “Glittery Alien from Planet Fierce” as a term of endearment.
Haters call him “Madam” as insult. There is a difference.

The flaw in your argument is that Top Idol is not a hater. She’s already said it’s a term of endearment for her. Therefore, by using your own argument, there is no difference.

Seriously? You don’t know who T.O. is ? Terrell Owens? He was only on TV every 5 minutes last year.
