An Adam Lambert Montage Dedicated to “Older” Fans

September 22, 2009

For some reason, this reminds me of the movie Ice Castles. Do you remember Ice Castles? Where the figure skater goes blind and won’t tell anyone and skates this amazing performance but then can’t find the flowers the fans have thrown? And I think Robbie Benson has to come down and help her, and then everyone knows she is blind. And people cry. One of my sisters loved this movie so I’ve seen it a few times…and I have a sick memory for useless trivia.

(Speaking of figure skaters, what happened to Midori Ito? SHE WAS BADASS.)

Apologies. My ADD comes out after 11pm.

Actually, it’s nothing like that, but the music…although it sounds nothing like theme from Ice Castles. The song is actually an instrumental version of Somewhere In Time.

While its a similar concept in a fantasy-esque way, its not funny for the right reasons like Harold & Maude, so um, yeah…maybe this is Harold & Frau-de?

This was created by and dedicated to the older Lambert fans, these so-called Adam Bombs. I think Adam Bombs are Glamberts, too. I’m think going to do a Venn Diagram of this shit. These Lamb Skanks, Adam Bombs and some other group all converge in an area Glamberts. YES! I figured all of this out with the help of crap I haven’t touched since a 8am Math Analytics class over ten years ago in college.

Hey, I think its great you listen to “younger” music and all that jazz. I don’t plan on being an old fart thirty years from now. But come on…it’s a kid who went on American Idol. I think you must have made this during an extra-long hot flash.

I’m sure Lambert is happy that he moves you. I’m happy that he moves you. I just don’t know if he should move you in a way where you make these poetic slide shows. What do you think?

Midori Ito!!! Eleventy!! She was 4 feet of power. She was spooked by that French skater who did backflips, uh …. *goes to google, comes back* Surya Bonaly. Surya did a backflip during warmup real close to Midori (maybe to spook her, who knows), and Midori wasn’t the same after that. Wow….Midori Ito! I ❤ you, TopIdol.

Oh, the Grannylamebert video is really sad. What does he think when he sees them in the audience, the video asks? That he's the feature performer at Chippendales?

umm, correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t Mr. Lambert gay?
    He likes men, right?
    Wow.
    This video is humiliatingly ridiculous.

“Glamberts are pretty intense, but no they’re not as scary as the claymates, and they’re pretty nice until you’re mean to them first or insult Adam.”

You see that’s the crux of the problem. If you agree with them, fantard with them, everything is sweetness and light. The moment you stop drinking the kool-aid all hell breaks loose. No one, and I mean no one, can say anything that might remotely seem negative about Adam. Anything can set them off even a good review about HBD. They can’t stop themselves. It’s not rational. But, I do agree that those at ONTD_AI seem like good people.

    Moving on now…

      @kimberly:
“You see that’s the crux of the problem. If you agree with them, fantard with them, everything is sweetness and light. ”

–Same can be said with ALL idol crazies then. Those Kris fans, Danny fans, etc? They’re JUST as crazy, what makes you any special? I’m pretty sure a lot of Adam-bashing happened before, especially during the season. Kris fans had it easier than Adam and Danny fans, I’m sure. And other idol fans don’t get off too easily. I’m sure A LOT OF YOU have bashed the other idols in favor of your own favorite. My only advice? If it’s not you’re thing, get the fuck out, ‘kay? Leave it alone, sheesh.

“No one, and I mean no one, can say anything that might remotely seem negative about Adam.”

–As a fan, I HATE it when people bash Adam. If you are a fan of a person, I’m very sure this is like being in a constant state of hurt, because you care for your idol. I mean, Kris fans are pretty much offended all the time when people call Kris “cannon-fodder/boring”. This is the same way I feel when people are bashing Adam. It’s all a matter of interpretation now. Positive review may not always be “positive” for a person. Even when it’s not meant to be offensive, people see the negativity more than the positivity. Everyone’s guilty of being too sensitive sometimes.

Why do you take it personally if someone does not like a musician you like? People have different tastes. I loathe John Mayer and find Chris Cornell’s voice irritating (although not as much in his work with Audioslave, but Soundgarden, EEEK. Like nails on a chalkboard.), but I don’t think I inflict pain on the people who like them and read this blog.

    *coming out of lurkdom*
I don’t get why older people feel the need to post their age? Ok let me try this out. I’m 20. I’m in 4th year college (graduating in one more year!!!) and I love Adam. Ok lemme help you with that diagram shit. I’ve lurked most Adam forums, and here’s what I know:

    >glamberts: AI-official – have no idea what they’re up too as i hate the site layout and web design too much. My inner ex-compsci student weeps everytime I go there even to lurk. Glamberts are pretty intense, but no they’re not as scary as the claymates, and they’re pretty nice until you’re mean to them first or insult Adam. They’re either older people or teenyboppers, I think? Yeah.

    > lamb skanks: IDF – again, better ergonomics with the web design, so I’ve lurked there more often. They’re… very laid back actually. Low key. The name Lamb Skanks started WAYYYY back I think when Adam wasn’t even in Top 13 and I’m pretty sure it was a joke among the people there. Yeah, that’s all I got. I have a friend who goes there though and she’s my age too, we only meet in the Pinoy thread. So.. people there are probably 20s to 40s? Again, just a guess.

    >Adam fans from ONTD_AI: I go there. 🙂 Coolest Adam fans in the planet. ‘Nuff said.

    > Adam Bombs: TALC – I have much respect for these guys coz they’re a pretty tight knit group. And they were very useful for videos during the tour. AAAAAND one of them made this gorgeous artwork and showed it to Adam. That was cool.

With all this said, my cousin is also an Adam fan, and lol he can play Mad World on his guitar while my baby niece (who’s 2) hums the lyrics, since she can’t talk that well yet. I don’t get why people say Adam’s fans are older. My friends who do like Adam are my age or younger, since I’m like the oldest in my group. I don’t think of Adam like that (i.e. the video, the RS comments?). I think he’s hot, sexy, yeah, but I LOVE listening to his voice even more. I don’t understand this generalization of Adam fans. I think Adam has the most diverse fans in AI. And normal non-creepy fans too, who outnumber the creeper-fans.

Mika, thank you, I love you. And now I know how to correctly classify myself. As I am a teen I have now confirmed myself as a Glambert 🙂 but then again I don’t kill you if you insult Adam as long as its not something regarding his religion or sexual orientation. That’s not cool. so actually idk! I’ll be my own category lol.

Oh, and thanks Top Idol. It does suck you in, doesn’t it? I’ve always had off-beat people gravitate to me and I assumed it was because I would listen to them and not run away in horror or worry if their weirdness would detract from me in any way. This draw to the Idol crazies make me wonder if it’s really me that loves the odd, bizarre and eccentric. Keeps life interesting.

    Cimi,

Did you read what you just posted and you can quite honestly say you’re rational on the subject of Adam Lambert? Which does carry over in RL, I’m more than certain. Maybe, I can’t empathize because I don’t iodlize anyone, ever. Not even as a teen.

Sorry, but I’m not buying it.

Hi Lauren *waving* Yes, I think so too–but as I said, I think the poetry was over-the-top and that my reaction to it was probably more to do with ME than the poetry. With the state of mind I am in, anything could bring me to tears IE–the drop of a hat for instance__ IT WASN’T THE POETRY! Althooooouuuuugh…I do understand why someone might be that driven to write something like that in regards to their Adam obsession, albeit lame.

I must be a glamskank– a cross between…yeah… you got it. But really–I don’t think it’s about a title of what one calls themself—-it’s about Adam and how engaging he is, in every way . Have you listened to him in an interview? Have you seen how completely different he looks every time you see him?–this is not humanly possible, but he pulls it off. Have you heard about “Donors Choose?” Witnessed his stamina with the press asking the same questions repeatedly, and how he doesn’t tire of them (or at least doesn’t let on that he does). Oh and then there’s that incredible drop-dead vocal instrument of his. Yes I think Adam is the best and, like others have said–Not since Elvis have I felt this drawn to anyone before. There is just something about him…I guess if you got it you got it and he’s got it.

And yes, Kimberly….I am quite rational

I agree that Adam has that “certain something”….and he’s a good guy.
But that overinvested portion of his fandom brings this sort of ridicule on themselves.
Every year somebody garners the lion’s share of the crazies…this year it was poor Adam. Unfortunately, their insanity will probably brand the rest of his fans.

FWIW… I think funny or clever fan tibutes are OK…this was neither (it was a little like the letters you find written in diaries of stalkers)

Who knows where AL will go with his career, but pathetic tributes such as this one is totally nauseating.

The thing is that any woman of any age past ‘tweens knows that AL isn’t thinking of them when singing sexy songs…but perhaps that is the attraction. I just enjoyed the show, the attitude, and his confidence in being himself in a not F-U way.

I don’t know this woman or any glamberts or lambskanks or adambombs and perhaps they’re quite rational, reasonable people in the real world, but my gut tells me something differently. When RS came out with the infamous Adam Lambert cover, I snuck a peak at some of the comments. After reading several, I had an overwhelming desire to get my affairs in order as proclamations of the second-coming of Jesus, I mean, Freddie, I mean Elvis, seemed to be a recurrent theme. But then, it changed from the messiah of music to something even more powerful, something beyond human comprehension. At once, I had images of Revival Meetings as I began reading testimonial after testimonial. One read: “I was a sexual cripple, but now I’m cured. I can now have multiple orgasm by merely holding on to this magazine and thinking of HIM and I haven’t had sex in 30 years.” Okay, so maybe not word for word, but the meaning is accurate.

All joking aside, the truth is Adam Lambert needs these women to succeed. Will they destroy him in the end? Time will tell. I’m waiting for the fall-out when the faux glam-rocker, the Robert Plant, David Bowie, Freddie Mercury impersonator becomes the male version of Lady Gaga. When his pop/disco/electronic dance music is released will all these frauens crucify him like they did another?

I can’t help myself, but find this all so bizarre and fascinating at the same time. It is all so amazingly complex and yet so very funny.

I am 64 damn years old and I wouldn’t give up a single moment!! What Adam has reminded me is that I did not lose the love of rock music and I can grab it and feel it and dance and sing and Scream to it FOREVER!! Well, if I had a grandmother who got all shook-up over Adam, I wouldn’t knock it. What is the big deal? He is adorable.

You have to admit, Adam Lambert did unleash some strange kind of magnetic pull on so many age groups of women. I can’t remember when a singer has done that before–spawned this rabid devotion across so many generation lines of women from 4-80 is what I’ve heard.

For those who don’t want to hear him go electric-dance-whatever, it a done deal according to him. It is his music anyway and he is young so he should go in the music direction that he feels he is most creative.

He has quite the voice! I will be interested to hear this new CD. He can sing just about anything it seems.

We love him for his voice and how he has reawakened us to feel sexually like we’re 16 again. If you don’t believe it, ask my husband of 30 years. My 51 year old is enjoying this 16 year old. So that’s where I went – over to hang out at Queenzone, because the teeny-boppers at the Adam Official site are nauseating, and I don’t care for all of the pictures of lardy old cougars with Adam either, just for equal opportunity repulsion. I just keep hoping that Adam will not waste his time on this electro-pop/rock, or whatever crap the kiddies have to hear these days and go on the road with Brian May and Roger Taylor for a tour because he is the best singer to come along since Freddie Mercury.

He is the most talented singer I have heard in a long long time. He is a cross between a young Elvis and Freddie Mercury (love them both too). And the theme to Somewhere is Time was perfect for that video. Thanks for making my day!!!

Hey, I’m an older fan who loves Adam. This tribute video was boring. I was 15 when Elvis came on the national scene. He was the most exciting performer I’d ever seen. From that day on, rock’n’roll was MY music. Still is. When Elvis died, I cried my eyes out. The music did die for a long time. Adam is exciting and has a fab voice. It doesn’t hurt that he has a resemblence to Elvis. I may be getting older, but I’m not dead yet, so long live rock’n’roll and long live the King of Rock–Adam Lambert!
