Am I allowed to be disturbed?

October 13, 2009

Am I disturbed by the photo (Thank you, MysteriosoMan)? No. By the date on the photo? No. I actually have a photo like this from when I was 8, years before, yes, but how many people who went to NYC before 9/11/2001 have a similar photo?

Adam Lambert and the World Trade Center

I’m disturbed by the second comment made on this photo.

Chilling ideed! BTW it’s cool to know where Adam was on my birthday 8 years ago. LOL.

I have a tendency to make inappropriate jokes at times. In front of friends and family who love me. Or on this blog. I think everyone has made jokes about horrific tragedies at one time or another because its human nature, and it’s often just a coping method. But I wouldn’t go so far as to say this is making a joke about a tragic event, however, something about this Traceyzat person’s comment just sort of rubbed me the wrong way. Perhaps it was the way she somehow took a photo of Lambert and twisted it around to involve a connection to her…on her birthday…She took a photo on Lambert in front of the Twin Towers four days before 9/11…and added a LOL.

I just don’t get it, do you?

Just went to check out the Idletard site – anyone know why when you click on the site it only gives a full page advert for the Brain and Spinal Cord Org? Is this sabotage or a joke?

    • October 14, 2009 5:47 pm

Anyone who gets off on L Anne’s sicko porn surely has brain damage, right?

just click it lol. it will take you to the site.

Still not working for me. I had earlier left a comment on the L.Anne porn article that was on Idletard. I noticed they post a lot of that stuff there and the comments I saw were generally disdainful, snarky and admitedly hilarious. Anyway I read the article -and whilst I didnt quite get “off” on it I did find it stangely compelling. I left a comment on it hoping to get a “rise” so to speak saying am I the only one who found it quite exciting. I have not been able to get into the site to see any reaction because of the hysterically funny Brain Injury type ad that is displayed and blocking my entry thereto. Ah well, I will live I suppose…..

Yeah that comment is entirely inappropriate and insensitive but it seems as if she didn’t mean it that way? I’m guessing the use of LOL was not because she was laughing but she had fallen into the habit of using lol after pretty much everything. I tend to do it too. At least that’s what I’m assuming?
Anyway, don’t use her as your model of an average Adam fan, please. Many of us are quite sane, such as myself and Lamberkitten, and don’t automatically think BIRTHDAYYYYY!!! when shown a picture that happened right before Sept. 11…
ok everytime i read that comment i get even more disturbed…

I hate people with zero awareness for appropriate behavior and responses. I lost friends and neighbors in 9/11 and find that sort of remark very offensive. You want to drool over a glitter bedecked karaoke singer fine, just don’t gloss over a national tragedy with asinine remarks pointing to your obsession. It’s not cool.

I don’t think she meant anything by it – it sounds a little weird, but I think it’s legit (although stalker creepy) to mark something by her birthday.

It is an interesting photo, one that I’m sure has meaning for Adam. I’m sure he wouldn’t expect a comment like ….OOOH, my birthday LOL! How does your mind even get to that place?

    Gah…

And yes, Adam, himself, seems cool, but the “crazy train” makes me steer clear of anything/everything Lambert-related. I try stick to reading AI things that do not pertain to him; however, everthing ends up being about him before too long anyway, so it’s a lost cause I guess.

This picture seems oddly familiar to me and I do recall something about Adam being so close to tragedy and relief that he wasn’t harmed or some such nonsense. Living in the tri-state area, I have zero tolerance for this stuff. A friend of my husband’s lost his uncle that day.

This grasping at straws for some connection to a so-called star is beyond my comprehension. In kids it’s tolerable, in adults it’s bizarre. I don’t even want to imagine what must go on in their little fantasy worlds all day long and all night long. ::gag::

On MJs Blog, the Adam Fans tried to put down Kris’s song because of the lyrics about the plane and how it made them feel “badly” about 9/11. I was pissed. That bothers you? Really? Well, what about all those people that lost loved ones there? They want you to remember what happened. Listening to a damn song about making sure you tell people everyday you love them makes you feel badly? Give me a break.

I wash my hands of these people, these Adam fans. That was the last straw for me. Perhpas by loving one so strongly, so obsessively, they have lost the ability to love others. They’ve lost their humanity. Overblown, I don’t think so, not after some of the things I’ve read online.

Yeah, that was weird that they had a prob w/ the song. Do they have any idea how many songs have been written about addiction and child abuse and war and all sorts of things that make people feel bad? LLWD is kid’s play in comparison.

The first time I heard that lyric, I actually thought of Air France 447 that went down in the Atlantic on its way to Paris this past summer. A horrible tragedy which could have probably been avoided. But I’m morbid and always read everything I can on that sort of thing.

I’ll be offended by that song lyric only if Cpt. Chelsey Sullenberger is, and given he’s one of the coolest people to walk the planet, I doubt he gives a rat’s ass (or the ass of a rat who allegedly trolled Adam Lambert’s apartment during those “lean” years in L.A.). The Glamberts are grasping for straws.

If someone can glean a Lambert reference out of Air France 447, I would be disgusted yet unsurprised. They can reference Lambert with the mention of anything. It’s a talent of sorts. Won’t get you anywhere but ridiculed and maybe locked up, though, so you can never refer to it as a marketable skill.

Please don’t generalise too much about Adam fans. I, and many others around the world, feel the pain of 9/11 and compassion for people that lost loved ones on that horrible day. Adam, due to his popularity, will attract every type of human being out there, many of which are lovely, truly – but some of which are – well we all know what they are. I am hoping the comment attached to this photo was written by some immature teenager. But thank you TI for bringing this to our attention.

I don’t think there’s really any generalizing going on. We know everyone that’s an Adam fan isn’t totally BSC…but the ones who are, happen to be very aggressive and it overshadows everyone else. I enjoy reading your comments. Too bad your sanity hasn’t rubbed off on a few others, lol.

        • October 14, 2009 4:24 pm

Golly gee. Thank you 🙂 I did try bring sanity to my much-loved Adam Official website and started a thread entitled “Get a grip OTT (over the top) fans!” trying to instill a little sanity in the discussion threads and to caution OTT fan reactions on sites on the internet – some of it SO embarrassing. Reaction ranged from “well those who mention the negativity are just as bad as the OTT fans” to “hear, hear, well said! – Lamberkitten for President!” – I particularly liked the latter and there were many others who agreed with me, so I am heartened that there is sanity in Adamworld. But on reflection decided against nominating myself for the presidential positioin – I strongly suspect my campaign would be scuppered once my weakness for make-up wearing singers with eye-watering glambulges (not to mention my penchant for Jack Daniels) would quickly become very apparent.

Not that Adam’s not interesting in his own right, but I think it’s telling that most of Top Idol’s Adam posts seem to be about batshit crazy/disturbing fan behavior.

(Honestly, the four comments in a row in response to one plastic surgery insinuation by a non-fan does look a bit obsessive.)

whatever. I don’t think Adam had a nose job….why do you think he did? He is blonde here, yes. But, that’s about all there is different. get. a. a. life.

I don’t think Adam got a nose job because

      1) Getting a nose job can effect the sound of your voice. Adam wouldn’t want to mess with that. That’s the reason Celine and Barbra never got nose jobs. It’s not worth the risk when you have a voice of a certain quality.

      2) He was living in an apartment with rats, wasn’t he? Where would he get the money for a nose job?

The Rolling Stone article said that he was making $1800/week while he was doing Wicked. So even if he was living in an apartment with rats (not unusual for a densely packed, urban area) he wasn’t poor.

Plus, lots of people use credit to pay for their new noses.

I doubt his apartment had RATS. Mice, perhaps. That’s normal. Rats stay in the alleys. I’ve had the occasional mouse. Those bastards have a death wish coming into my place when Oskar is on the prowl.

And if you’ve ever seen a rat, its A LOT bigger than a mouse. I would guess that’s a gross misinterpretation/exaggeration on his part. If he was making $1800/wk, I doubt he was living in a dive. Was he in some shitty apartment out by LAX? I doubt it.

I’ve had poor actor friends get a little work done here and there. It’s quite common. I understand the point about screwing up his voice, but I don’t know, nose jobs…hell, how many girls in my high school had deviated septums that summer before junior year?

Puhleeze. My gfriend got a boob job for 8k and she’s broker than broke. People use credit, mommy/daddy fund, savings, etc. Many ways to pay for plastic surgery. Plus makes sense for any struggling singer/actor to alter themselves in hopes of making it big in this city. The guy got paid nicely for Wicked, so he had the money and the reason. And many wonderful singers with great ranges have gotten rhinoplasty…helllooo, ever heard of Miss Ashlee Simpson 😉

You remind me of the story about University of Georgia coeds having “Hope Scholarship Boobs.” See, their mommies and daddies had built up nice college funds for their little girls. Then the state passed the lottery which funds the Hope Scholarship program; basically it’s a full-ride at UGA for anybody with a 3.0 GPA. So, all these girls got the scholarships, and well, they had to spend the old college fund on SOMETHING…so they all begged mom and dad for boob jobs.

That’s called Tarding 1o1. New tards could learn a thing or two from her. Always twist everything, and I mean everything, into being about the object of your affection.

    Eg

Random person ‘Excuse me, do you have the time?’

Frau ‘OMG DID YOU KNOW ADAM HAS A SONG COMING OUT CALLED TIME FOR MIRACLES AND IT’S GOING TO BE THE BIGGEST SELLING SONG OF ALL TIME!’

    Person *runs*

    That is how to tard.

All I can think of is the poor defenseless stuck in a cage when Judyes started singing Walking VD songs to it…and when the Jestrofrauen tried street teaming the psych ward of a local hospital.

Except for she was responding to something that actually WAS about Adam, and twisting it to be about her. So exactly the opposite of what you described, actually.
