Happy Xmas to everyone from St. Louis, home of the Cardinals, the Blues, BBQ pork steaks, toasted ravioli, the Arch, the largest Bosnian community outside of Bosnia and the birthplace of myself and…Jon Hamm!
Since arriving back here on Tuesday, I’ve done two classes of that crazy Bikram Yoga crap, the “hot box” stuff (there is a place down the street from my parents’ house) and hung out with my family. I have gotten my parents through the entire first season of Mad Men. Xmas Eve confirmed that my family just wants to break out into song whenever possible, which is rather odd, considering we are not very uh, tuneful. My one brother-in-law even knew a bunch of words to…Rent? (I hate Rent. Anyhoo, I had no idea he loved it.) It was also discovered that my siblings and two of my nieces are also…Kris Allen fans!!! In fact, my niece asked me not to make fun of her when she opened the CD (a gift from my mother, as directed by my sister). Obviously, she does not read my blog. I informed her there would be none of that going on, although I will, in fact, still bet money on that Taylor Lautner kid being gay. I even semi-bonded with one sister over…So You Think You Can Dance. Thankfully, she hated Mollee, too! Funny how you can find common ground with family members over shitty reality talent shows.

Adam was a plant. He’s using his gayness as a media manipulation to try to famewhore it up. He’s no different then Balloon Boy’s dad. No wait, that guy was creative at least! Adam is a copycat of the worst kind. His CD is just another level of karaoke – singing other people’s songs. He’s getting the same type of pimping and money thrown at his “career” as did Jordin Sparks, another one of Randy Jackson’s plants. He’s going to be just as much of a money pit, if not more. At least the kind of shit they have Jorbacca sing sells to the singles buying lowest common denominator – which is the average top 40 listener. Adam can’t even crack that…
Adam is also two faced about his gayness. It became political only days later when he did a 180, For His Convenience. He’s an actor.

Explain to me, Adam fans here, why Adam should have been allowed to “compete” on AI when he recorded a Queen song previously for Randy Jackson’s Dance Crew show? Plus, you know damn well he had a pre existing record contract that AI bought out (quietly) – because those CDs would never been released if he didn’t, right?
He didn’t have a pre-existing record contract…That cheap stolen music CD whose name I can’t remember was collected after Adam became famous. There was no real record contract.
Why is singing songs given to you by other artists considered Karaoke? Even Kris did it!
How do you know he didn’t have a contract? I believe they claimed he did. They were allowed to release it. It didn’t sell well just like his “official” release” 😀 – but if you compare percentage wise on the profit minus costs, they probably did better.
I thought Kris wrote most of his CD. I think Adam got third billing on a couple of tunes to try to make him look legit. Like he added a “the” and a “uh huh” and an “or” here and there.
They were demos. He was hired to sing on some songs by another artist. It wasn’t considered a recording contract because Adam never knew his versions would be released. That’s how I understand it anyway. His debut is selling well, just not getting airplay. It is selling much better than Kris’ in fact, though Kris’ is getting significantly more radio plays.
Kris wrote on much of his CD. There were still 4 that he didn’t contribute to at all. One of them was a cover. Adam wrote on 4. He got 3rd billing on 2 but 2nd on another and 1st on one. Adam didn’t sing any previously recorded songs though. If any song on either album HAD to be called karaoke it would be “Heartless”.
In my opinion, it isn’t.
He was contracted to sing demo music in the same way a backup singer or session musician would be. It’s not an actual record deal. As for the “Randy’s plant” remark, I don’t see how that maters. If that show conducts itself like that, and he obviously isn’t the only one accused of this, then it’s still part of the whole idol crap machine process anyway. So, who cares?
His album is very good. I will agree that some songs sound like covers, but, they are still damn good covers! The songs that I think are genius, are the ones he collaborated on. I know you don’t believe he was much of a contributor to that process, but, I strongly disagree. If you listen to music he collaborated on before Idol, you will hear phrasing that is similar. ‘Down The Rabbit Hole,’ ‘Broken Open,’ and ‘Strut’ are great songs with beautiful, interesting, even humorous lyrics.
I find it distasteful to continually pit these two men up against each other when they both are deserving.

When the finale happened, I pretty much thought, hey, they both won. It doesn’t matter. They were the guys who deserved to be the final 2 standing. THEY BOTH WON. And I find it utterly unnecessary and ridiculous that there is still a ongoing “battle” of sorts, the fan wars, the what not. But hey, that’s Idol.
Oh, okay, so even if they are breaking their own rules, rules they only enforce if they don’t get caught, or caught to the point that the mainstream media picks it up, like with Joanna Pacitti which was so blatent that even they noticed. Jordin, Carly, and Adam, all worked professionally and are connected to Randy Jackson, a judge. If it was Danny Gokey, would you be like “so what”? Sorry, it’s corrupt and no excuses for the guy you’re tarding over. If he wasn’t on Idol, and for some reason got a decent contract the old fashioned way, do you think you would even have bought his CD, let alone become a hardcore fan? Think about this, seriously.
As for his other record contract, he was not just singing other people’s demos. He co wrote songs. Big difference.

If Adam had gotten a record contract the normal way and I heard one of his songs, I would have fallen in love with him just the same. Yes Idol introduced me to him, but it’s not the reason I’m obsessed with him.

I read somewhere that she did (probably on here). As far as talent, I have no clue…it’s hard to tell from that. I think she had said that she would be great for Reese Witherspoon’s little sis in something. (apparently lots of friends think there is a resemblance).
I just don’t like the fact that she never would have landed the role if it hadn’t been for Kris winning idol. But you know what, if she ends up being good I don’t care. If she actually has talent, I can’t blame her for taking the opportunity when it presents itself. To me, she only look like Reese in the way that they are both pretty blonds.

My sister has worked with theatre companies, and has auditioned for (crappy B-type) films before, but she can’t get anything…so I’m torn on this. Good for her catching a break, but that won’t help her keep a job. Good luck to her, I hope she is talented.
they both have “bubble” eyes and big foreheads….in addition to being petite and blond. umm, i read she wanted to pursue acting in NY but decided to stay in AR because of her relationship with Kris. She was in the drama club and did theater …..the extent of her talent is uncertain. I still think she looks like a dwarf but that might work in Hollywood. (pretty dwarf, but a dwarf nevertheless 🙂

Actually, for women, shorter is better. You’d be surprised how many big male lead actors are under 5’9″. Big egos don’t like to stand on boxes or look up to their leading ladies. That says nothing of her talent, just that her “look” is good.
Looks like this is an AK based webseries. Not sure it’s that big a production, and more than likely there wasn’t a ton of good competition for the role. Interesting that the trailer showed no dialogue at all. That’s usually not a good sign, but that’s on the writer’s head, not Katy’s.
I just want to hear that she’s studying out here. As long as she stays away from Milton Katselas, she could do well. Very, very far away. He’s basically turned his classes into Scilon induction courses, and his coaching talent has gone out the window.

I don’t think any actors will have to worry about being towered over by Katy. I’ve seen lots of pics of her and Kris together, and he is significantly taller than she is, even in sizable heels. I doubt she’s over 5′ tall. (Kris says he is 5’7″, but many people seem to think he’s much shorter…if that’s true, she may be an actual dwarf, in which case TI will HAVE to like her!)
This is odd b/c I’ve been on a Veronica Lake/Alan Ladd (he was another shorty from AR…I learn things on imdb!) kick lately. One of the reasons they were paired together so often is because she was so tiny. Alan Ladd’s height was listed at 5’4″ and he was EXTREMELY sensitive about it. He did the whole box-standing thing apparently.
Is he still alive? He’s responsible for such talented thespians as Kelly Preston and Jenna Elfman…if talented thespians means scilons.

Catching up here, but even if he had wanted to, how on earth could Lambert have convincingly pretended not to be gay when there were all those pics of him out there?
I don’t think he ever intended to go the AI route (who does?) ; if that had been his plan early on, he would probably have been far more discreet. He just did what a lot of Idols have done- turned to AI when everything else failed and they were getting old. He was forced into being ‘brave’, IMO.
If Adam told 19E he wanted to remain closeted, they would have made that happen. The reason why public confirmation is so important, is because even if we know someone is gay, until they say so, it’s sort of off limits. Melissa, Rosie, Ellen, Clay…did you ever think they were straight? Ever? No, but mainstream media backed off until they confirmed it. So, yes Adam coming out as early in career as he did, while on a show that judges you week to week, was brave. Considering the audience of AI, very brave indeed.

My reaction: …what? Ignoring all the other current openly gay artists, the first person that popped into my head was Elton John. My parents worship him and I’m pretty sure he’s been out a lot longer than Adam has…Yes, it is hard to be an openly gay artist, but Adam’s not the first…
I think the idea (that your favorite crazy didn’t express too well) is that Adam came out at the beginning of his major label career, instead of after he already had major success and a fanbase to support him like with most gay artists who come out. It was definitely a brave move, but of course the times have changed since when Elton John revealed that he was bi… people of the 1970s were not as accepting of homosexuality as we are now. So… I get what people mean when they label Adam a trailblazer… although it’s definitely a bit of an exaggerated and grandiose statement to make.

Elton John came out in stages. In the ’70s, he stated he was bisexual. At the time there were rumors that Bowie, Jagger and Rod Stewart were also bisexual, though those rumors were never confirmed as far as I know. Elton John married a woman in the early eighties. Then divorced her and declared that he was gay sometime in the mid to late eighties. He has stated in interviews that disclosing he was bisexual at the peak of his career cost him many fans and record sales. He had some hits in the eighties; however, he never did achieve the status he had in the ’70s. He also went bankrupt and then rebuilt his fortune with (ironically) Disney collaborations.
There are many openly gay celebrities. Adam Lambert is the first to be openly gay from the inception of his career. I believe he is also the first openly gay celebrity considered a sex symbol. Yes, it was brave of him to own that. He easily could have stated he was bi and no one would have questioned it. So, if he never accomplishes anything else, at least he will have that. If he continues to follow bad career advice, it will be all he has!
I can find this somewhere I’m sure, but actually David Bowie “came out” a year before the release of Ziggy Stardust. He wasn’t actually gay, and ended up being honest at some point in the early 80s, but he did publicly say that he was. It was suspected that even if it was a publicity stunt, and it was, that he was at least bi.
I think the issue also comes down to whether or not it matters. It shouldn’t. There are lots of musicians who were always openly gay in their personal lives who never went to the press and said they were gay simply because they want their music to speak for them. Bob Mould comes to mind. I’d much rather it be about the music, and so would a lot of fans. Take your SO to events, and say that’s your SO, but no need to do a magazine cover. Make it normal, I say.
Oh, and the lead singers of Bloc Party and The Feeling were out from the beginning, and have achieved a great deal of world-wide success. Yes, and in the US.

i think he was a-sexual in the begining of his career. he only “came out” after his early 90s success…wiki refrences an article in 94 and then in 2001 and 2003. i recall being into REM and dont remember much talk about his sexuality. i do recall the AID rumor. but then again, i was in high school and didnt know much. (still the case today 🙂
EVERYONE had a record contract and at least some sort of success before coming out in a national forum. Adam was out before he had a contract, before he had an album and before he placed second on AI. When those kissing photos turned up, his response was “I am who I am,” which was tantamount to a confirmation, in my opinion. Bill O’Reily was discussing Adam’s sexuality on his show during top seven week. It was clear from the beginning that he was doing something that hadn’t been done before. You don’t need to like him to appreciate that fact.
I never considered Lambert “in”. Not in the least. It wasn’t like Clay Aiken who kept denying the obvious.
I don’t remember Michael Stipe saying he was asexual, but I don’t buy it when anybody says that. I know Morrissey said he was asexual, but I thought he said that to be cute (British humor and all). I don’t know how anybody could hear the song, “Ask” and think that dude was straight or asexual.

he might not be the first, but he is one of a few….sadly, same goes for actors. being homosexual can be the kiss of death (in terms of movie roles offered). thats why you see kevin spacey so discreet about his live and jermey piven basically lying about his. its the assumption (probably backed by maket/media studies) that suggest female fans will not support a gay celebrity because that man is no longer appealing/ attainable. Male fans for their part, might be uncomfortable supporting an openly gay man…..something certain men have no problem admitting in public (stupid stupid stupid). its the same wtih certain ethnic actors….i recentlysaw an interview with a black actress describing how she’s been told not to look “too black”. (i have a gfriend who works for the studios, was with fox, now with paramount, and she has the same issue at work. her hair has to be straightened bc leaving it naturally curly in an afro would look too shocking, unprofessional, ethnic.) too black, too gay, too anthying but Powder is apparently bad in this country. the tide is changing, but not fast enough IMO …..ok, slowly getting off soap box 🙂
Wasn’t Rupert Everett out at the beginning of his career? (I don’t remember ever NOT knowing that he was gay) That didn’t seem to hurt him…although he doesn’t seem to have worked much lately…other than voice work.
A lot of people (including Everett himself) think that’s what kept Everett from becoming a full-blown international star, but I think its more his brazen personality. I, for one, have always been a fan of Everett. He actually has been back in the news of sorts, he wrote his autobiography, I think? And he’s had a couple of recent roles. I read a few articles about him recently.

The pic in that article was a good one, but I’ve seen some fairly recent ones that looked as if he’d had really bad plastic surgery. That’s not gonna help any either. I don’t know much about him personally, but he’s a fine actor and was quite good-looking in his younger days. He could possibly be correct about being out hurting his career, there are only so many gay best friend roles out there. I can remember him being cast as a straight man about 3 times off the top of my head. (there’s probably more, but that’s all I remember)
That would have to be a hard thing to keep secret now though, without the protection of the studio.(like back in the Cary Grant-Randolph Scott days)
Rupert Everett was not always out. It was sort of a big deal when he came out because he was already well known. Most actors/musicians/etc outright deny or stay vague and don’t discuss their personal life.
David Bowie said he was gay, no matter how many times he ammended it, almost FOURTY YEARS AGO. Plus, he did not record a much hyped commercial industry product filled with cast offs written by other artists 😉 Speaking of copycats….check this out:

I don’t know how you measure people. When you condemn his music, I accept that we have different taste. When you mock his sexuality, I think, maybe the gay thing is a little hard for you to handle. But, when you criticize something that is good and brave, by all human reasoning, I have to challenge it. We live in a bigoted society. To stand before it, and reveal yourself because your conscience compels you to, is noble. To do it, knowing you are risking everything you’ve ever wanted, is brave. There are other things you can pick on, don’t be so vicious.
As for the boys… I’m sure they are already banging down Adam’s door. 🙂

As much as we want to blame Glamtards for stymieing Adam’s radio airplay, I think it’s because that industry is predominantly male and as Wino states, men do have a harder time (generally) accepting gay men then women do. If you look at Adam’s media coverage, woman and gay correspondents are really the one’s that are openly supporting him. Straight men, not as much. (Jim is one of the few.)

hope you had a good xmas. i bought my BFF and her husband the first two seasons of MadMen. They turned me onto Dexter, so it was only fitting to return the favor….one great show for another. We have plans this week to watch a cpl of the episodes together and drink dirrty draper martinis. It is the best gift ever….for a woman or a man. Cant miss.

I checked out @AdamWench’s twitter account and noticed that she tweeted this to several people, but only one time to Adam. Under the circumstances I will not presume to know her intentions or judge her too harshly. What may seem like inappropriate behavior to you, may be a very heartfelt expression of sympathy. We all grieve differently. I didn’t know Terri Sanvicente, yet, I was deeply moved by her death.
Maybe we should respectfully move on to another topic.
She was probably DMed/emailed by people to stop then, and delete. She retweeted to well over 30 people when I saw it, and to Adam at least 7 times, then another weirdly spelled tweet about passing it around the world again, to others and Adam, and to his guitarist Monty. Maybe she deleted the 40/50 or so tweets and requests for people to pass it on, but it was there for hours and it was insane and tasteless. Many others retweeted it. People using a tragic death to gain attention from their Idol and other fans is a low I’ve never seen before. We’ll just have to agree to disagree. I’m not joining in on rationalizing her behavior because there is no excuse IMO.

All begging them to look at her crazy assed “tribute”, and begging some music journalist to get Adam to look at it too and pass it on – just on the front page of her account alone. Whatevia. That woman is now openly bitching about the donations to HAWC. Just wow! I understand wanting to contribute to her funeral, but it’s possible that may be taken care of by her family or insurance, hence the donating to the shelter. Here’s a better idea, stop buying so many copies of FYE, and give the $$ to both the kids and the shelter. Crazy, I know!
Also, HAWC is an awesome organization. Very respected. Worth your money any time of the year.

My parents and I are on the second episode of Season 2 at the moment.
I just started the “Hobo Code,” he is more of a prick than an asshole. I nearly crashed my computer downloading the entire first season at once. I already had three episodes, but it worked out to be cheaper to buy the entire season rather than the remaining 10 episodes. It really is good. I only seem to like the woman on the show. All the men irritate me. I could never have survived that era without castrating a few.
Season one complete and halfway through season two. I can’t help but notice that they eat a lot of ham on the show. I wonder if that’s on purpose.
