Scambert! Adam Lambert Fan “Kymm Leibel” cons the Glamberts
An alleged Adam Lambert fan named Kymm Leibel scammed her fellow Glamberts out of a bunch of cash by selling/gifting them fake VIP tickets to last night’s Gridlock NYE event in Los Angeles. (Leibel has conveniently not posted to her Twitter since December 29th.)
Victims of this scam included blogger Gossip Candy and a woman who goes by DragonFly194 on AdamOfficial.com.
On December 19th at approx. 11pm I received an email from a woman saying that she and her husband had purchased two VIP tables at Gridlock. She wanted people at her table who were fans and who would be fun. She said I came to mind and I had been an Adam fan from the very first so she wanted to reward me by paying for my plane ticket, my hotel, my VIP tickets and Red Carpet VIP Tent Access.
I bought it hook line and sinker as they say. Every part of her story as it developed seemed real. I spoke with her over the phone, got numerous emails with wonderful details of our fantastic trip. I was not the only one others on this board were also taken in.
The first cracks in the story appeared when our plane tickets were suddenly canceled and changed to another day. Then they were changed again – always with a plausible story. Now today they were canceled again just hours before leaving for the airport. The story is so farfetched as to the reasoning that I began checking further.
No reservation at the hotel Petite Ermitage for us, no tickets held at Gridlock under our name or her name, no airline ticket rebooked. All of us who were taken in have gone to considerable expense when we could little afford it to help the dream come true.
We purchased clothing, luggage, jewelry, shoes etc. so we would not shame ourselves as we met Adam and danced the night away. We wanted to look as beautiful as we could. We wanted to look as special as this woman was making us feel.
Now we feel hurt, disillusioned, lied to, cheated on, robbed and emotionally raped.
To tie this to such a wonderful thing as our fan adoration of a exemplary human being such as Adam is added insult. This is soooo not anything he would want to hear happened in his name.
I just want to warn whoever else has been lead on by this woman to be aware that it is all part of some fantasy where she “means well, but it all falls apart at the end”. She and a male partner make it seem so real.
Their names are Kymm and Kelly Leibel (if these are their real names) they say they are from Souix City, Iowa and that they own many restaurants. She uses the screen name kleibelx2.
She is a fantasy infatuated person and so is her male partner or they are just mean beyond belief.
I am crushed that I will not be there to see Adam, I am embarrassed that I was duped and I am exhausted beyond belief as I have tried to unravel this mess.
I still love Adam Lambert as a singer, performer and exemplary human being. I still believe in the good of most people and I still believe that good things happen to good people. Unfortunately bad things also happen to good people, too. So any else of you who have been sucked in by this woman – start questioning her immediately and make your own plans because you’ve just been hoaxed in a very personal and cruel way.
Hey, I gotta admit. I love making fun of Adam Lambert’s wily bunch of overzealous fantards, however, I’m not going to make fun of these people for being duped or suckered, even if it would be REALLY REALLY EASY TO DO SO right now. I’m sure these con artists gained a fair amount of trust within Glambertlandia, however, its high time people learned that a little research knowledge can go a long, long way. Of course, if someone is offering you something like this for free…? Come on, now. Come on.
Since I’m obsessed with research, naturally, I Googled these rat bastards. If Kymm and Kelly Leibel are really restaurant owners in the Sioux City, IA area, I believe there would be more information about them. More so than a generic Xing profile, right? (That’s some Holly Sockpuppets/Maryann Edwards shit right there.) In fact, I can’t find out much about Kymm Leibel beyond Twitter and some vague information purporting her age to be between 45-49 and a resident of the Sioux City area.
Leibel, however, seems to have ingrained herself in the Glambert community, going as far as to volunteer for the Cassidy Haley Army, a fangroup for singer Cassidy Haley, who is also a close friend of Adam Lambert. Her name pops up in December 2009 issue of cassidy-haley-army-newsletter (Glamberts all love Cassidy Haley). She is listed as one of the “publishers” and there is a Q&A biography on page 8.
The other women who run the Army–and Cassidy Haley himself–are in no way in cahoots with Kymm Leibel and have only learned about her scam as it unfolded over the last two days. Both Cassidy Haley and the Army’s Anne Marie have contacted me and they are shocked with the turn of events. Kymm Leibel was apparently very proficient in answering members’ questions and drumming up new membership. She volunteered to work with the Army via Twitter and was very open about being a mega-Lambert fan. Anne Marie and Haley both know nothing more about this woman than what was posted in the newsletter, but are now aware she lured other Glamberts into close online friendships and are very upset about this woman’s fraudulent activities. Obviously, Kymm Leibel offered her “services” to the Cassidy Haley Army to give herself legitimacy (remember, Idol fantards love boasting about their “insider industry knowledge”, as well as “marketing & PR skills”) within the Glambert realm.
Pretty disgusting, right? She targeted Haley in order to get a deeper in with the Glamberts and gain clout amongst them, as many Glamberts now follow Haley’s career because of his ties to Adam Lambert.
Kymm Leibel purports to have worked for the Democratic Party for the last 18 years (presumably in Iowa) and is the owner of “three upscale restaurants in the midwest”. Hmmm…as someone who was born and raised in the Midwest who can also name several family members who are very active in statewide politics, your story smells fishy. Oh, and people in the midwest also have websites for restaurants now, and the local press jumps on new eateries (particularly those of the SWANKY and upscale variety), so hmmm…it does seem a little suspect that this woman’s alleged existence as a longtime liberal democrat in a more than predominantly conservative state who is active in countless voting and membership drives while also operating three UPSCALE restaurants leaves such a weak Google trail. Nor can I find her name attached to anything called Make, Inc., the company she purports to own on her MySpace profile.
And Mugsy, one of the best researchers I know did a few checks:
I did a quick search for public and property records for Leibel in Sioux City, IA, and guess what? I found nothing. I also found nothing under the IA Secretary of State under that name. If they owned a chain of restaurants, they would certainly be incorporated or have formed a business entity registered with the Secretary of State. Kimm Leibel is probably not her real name, or Iowa is not her real location. The frauen could have easily checked her out. I doubt there’s a male business partner either.
Is she a Glambert or just a scam artist? Who knows, but it does seem particularly ironic that her biographical information is so perfect. She’s a liberal democrat, but from the MIDWEST! She owns several upscale restaurants, which makes her just a bit “richer” and more “in-the-know” than other Glamberts. The combination makes it easy for her to dupe unsuspecting fans. It’s authoritative yet approachable. And boom! Bitch takes the money and runs. And there if she was a legitimate business owner, well then, there would be record of that…so…
Listen, I really could make fun of the Glamberts right now, but I won’t. I don’t know the details of the elaborate scam that was pulled on them, and I doubt it would have happened to me, as I would have Googled information about this woman ahead of time. But as I said, I don’t know the details, but it is clear she (and her partners, if there are any) was somehow able to gain trust of these individuals in some manner or another. But the Glamberts should also be aware that their desperate love and need to see their savior can also open them up to these types of schemes. If it sounds too good to be true, it most likely is, so next time, do a little research before buying a plane ticket and sending someone cash via PayPal.
And if anyone has any information as to who this Kymm (or Kelly) Leibel actually is, please send it my way. I love getting the word out about these crazy ass bitches who try to screw other people for their own sick & twisted pleasure or in the name of good old-fashioned greed. I don’t care who bought crap like clothing or makeup in preparation for the big event–that’s their own deal. But if anyone got scammed out of cash for a plane ticket, VIP access or hotel room and can verify this information, let me know.

I’m a fan of the singer, Adam Lambert, and live in a country that doesn’t have the same obsession with reality television shows as America seems to have. I picked up on Lambert’s talent purely by accident and switched on the show each week for the sole purpose of hearing him sing. I still haven’t heard any of the other Idol contestants sing – as they held no interest to me musically. Prior to becoming a “fan” of Lambert’s music, I had never heard of “shipping” or ‘fan wars”, and certainly had no idea that you guys are deadly serious in your obsession with the show, its contestants, its fan bases and with your own interactions as members of fan and blog sites dedicated to all things Idol.
The obsession seems to have little or nothing to do with music, which perhaps makes sense since the Idol show is more of a popularity than music contest. For myself, as for thousands of other international fans who are interested in Lambert as a remarkable singer, Idol is meaningless. Lambert stands out for one reason and one reason only – he can sing his face off.
As for nutbar fans, sorry but these go with the territory of fame. Always have. But passionate loyalty and a broad age demographic in a fanbase is nothing to be despised. Certain artists have mass appeal. MJ is a case in point. Other artists are so polarizing they never obtain, neither do they seek, mainstream success. The fact is, Lambert doesn’t need hordes of fashion conscious teens buying his music in order to make it as a “rockstar”. Neither does Gaga, who is hated as much as she is adored, and owes her success to her devoted, passionate and loyal fanbase (amongst which there are crazies) – and to her phenomenal talent.
Lambert, as the only male transformative pop/rock singer to emerge in this generation, seems to be forging a similar career. He has the fans, and he has the talent.
Music is what it’s about. But if your internet buzz is ‘idolmania’ gossip – then go for it. Whatever turns you on….
Sorry, something in the way the story is written, makes me wonder if the person who is being scammed is not the scam–ee, looking for sympathy (tickets). Who in their right mind would expect anyone to offer a package deal (to an out of town event) for a 1 night event that costs about the same as an electric bill for a month? Something here is not right. Glambert obsession is probably the worst thing to happen to Adam.
I think most Idol fans are new to the internets/fan sites, therefore are more gullible to scams. I think you can just blame it on ignorance. Most of the AI fan sites give a false sense of trust and security and a poster feels like they are part of a community and the mods/posters/blog owner are really their friends, which is total BS.
But, anyway this reminds of the Soul Patrol, which I was a part of many moons ago. They had their fair share of scammers and the grandmas bought into it lock, stock and barrel. There was a fansite owner called Adora and she ran a site called TaylorMadeSoul. She asked for money many times (for personal use) and gullible fans gave it her – no questions asked. Another fantard called Claudia took money from fans for a magazine she was starting. There was no magazine, it was all a scam. I think she finally refunded their money, but it was only after they threatened to take her to court. Another nutcase called Bluzkat, pretended she was an insider and posted bogus stories from Taylor’s grannie – all lies! Bluzkat also made soul patrol bracelets and tried many times to scam money out of the old ladies.
It makes me sad that Idol fantards lives are so empty, that they get caught up in the Idol hype and insanity and easily part with their money without a second thought.

And it’s a warning to other people to be very dubious of people you meet on-line. I think if you really want to prevent this stuff from happening in the future, the rule should be: If a 14 year old girl brought up the scenerio to you, what would you say?
For example:
If a 14 year old told you that she has made the best friends ever at an on-line board she hangs out at where everyone talks about her favorite singer, and that she gave a few people her cell phone number and told them lots of personal details about herself, what would you say?
If a 14 year old girl told you that someone from the board had purchased tickets to a concert out-of-state for her (VIP seats!!)and a few others, had paid for her airline flight, and was putting her up in a hotel room for the weekend, what would you say?
And, let me reverse that. What kind of person buys airline tickets, pays for hotel rooms, and provides concert tickets to people they met on-line? Someone who is either not to be trusted or not in their right mind.
Sorry to be harsh, but I think these kinds of things probably happen more than we know within the AI community. So far, people have only been scammed out of money or their self-respect. But, how long until something truly tragic happens to a trusting fan? Personally, I think the AI fanboards are perfect environments for scammers/creeps.
IMO online friendships need to be like real life friendships or dating. You slowly take your time to get to know the other person. Some of my closest friends in my life I met online. But we slowly built up that friendship. We talked online, we emailed, eventually we all met up at public place for lunch where no one had to be flown in especially for it. Everyone pays their own way. It went in stages. Lunches, some group dinners. A few times we’ve flown to other states for fan gatherings and what not but by then we actually knew that everyone was exactly who they said they were. I can’t see just jumping from “hey I met this funny person online” straight to “let me buy this random stranger expensive VIP tickets.”

This has nothing to do with the main point here, but I did want to point out that there are lots of liberal Democrats in the Midwest. Hello — Obama is from Illinois, right next door to Iowa. In the presidential election, he carried Illinois, Missouri, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio and Iowa. And Iowa is one of the few states to allow gay marriage. Soooo… Long story short? Neither Iowa nor the Midwest are conservative bastions where a liberal Democrat is out of place or a warning flag.

I was scammed because a trusted friend who had close ties with the scammer for nearly a year. This Kymm woman took months to build a false shell of her persona with countless people including my friend. Kymm insinuated herself into my friends personal life as well, their communications were several times a day. My friend had no reason to doubt Kymm as they worked toward the same goal on a charitable project and Kymm’s many contributions in time and organizational skills at the charity were documented.
She was a welcomed part of the Cassidy Army, she was known to a friend and she was recognized on the Adam Official board. No warnings were found anywhere I looked – it was always an exemplary person doing good in the world. These “truths” kept coming back to me as proof to accept her on face value. I did google her name and didn’t find as much as I wanted, but rich people many times fly under the radar using corporate names. In the process of this scam she emailed me 34 times in 10 days, spoke with me via cell phone numerous times and assured me, “Yes this is real, it is just what I want to do for you because of the thread you write every night on the Adam Official – I admire your writing and never miss a night.” I want to reward you for being such a loyal fan.
So with the background of the Cassidy Army affiliation, a “known” person to my friend, and her smattering of information on the internet and on the Adam Lambert Official website – I let my self believe.
I am normally such a skeptic and I always take information with a grain of salt, but this time because she was a “known” person – I bypassed any ringing bells in my head. It was such a wonderful trip that she planned for us, she was so ingratiating to me and my friend, and I had printed airline boarding passes in my hand – why would I question further? Who would pay for a ticket on a rouse?
Well, it would be someone who purchased trip insurance for the tickets with the ability to get a full refund. Sure they’re out the insurance fee, but think of all the glee it bought her to jerk our strings like a puppet master extraordinaire.
I did do checking – I called the hotel and they didn’t have my name listed, when I questioned Kymm she said not to worry she had the reservation in her corporate name and would call them right away to put everything in our own names. She seemed organized and competent. Every time I questioned her, the response was so quick and genuine that it seemed to be true.
So, yes I feel foolish, duped and embarrassed – but I think most anyone would have come to the same conclusion based on what I’ve stated above. If feel that if it was you who had spoken with this eloquent person that showed so much emotion and sincerity in her voice, you wouldn’t have doubted either. If you had read the emails, if you had proof of her many charitable acts in other organizations, if she was a known person to a friend – how far do you question someone with a background such as this without being insulting?
Don’t go pointing any holier and smarter than thou finger at me until you, too, have been so totally fooled. Let me ask you a question – ever marry someone you ended up divorcing because it turned out they just weren’t the same person once you married them or taken a job that just wasn’t what it was represented to be or purchased a cute sweet puppy that destroyed your home and bit you? – Oh yeah that would be YES for many of you so shut up and stop pointing and feeling smug.
I mean I personally purchased and gave away American Idol tickets myself when my plans were altered because it was a fun thing to do instead of just wasting the tickets – so I thought Kymm was of the same ilk as I was. SO I WAS WRONG.

Dragonfly194, believe me, you have my sympathies. This woman was clearly some kind of sociopath to have gone to such lengths to defraud people. I’m still unclear if she was a legitimate fan who went off the deep end or had nefarious designs on you all from the start. Aside from the obvious phishing risks if you turned over personal information to her, did she actually successfully steal any money from you? I’m still confused, since she was offering to pay everybody’s way. And again, if folks spent money to prepare for the trip to LA, couldn’t the stuff all just be returned?

I think the reason you don’t get this is because VIP tickets to see Adam wouldn’t be a big deal to you. As a proud Adam-tard, I completely understand how devastated these women must feel.

I’m a HUGE Green Day fan and I wouldn’t believe anyone’s cock and bull story granting me VIP tixs to their event. As with anything, I make my own plans. If something good happens to occur (ie getting backstage) then it’s a nice feeling but I’m not the type to ever believe anyone making me a promise about anything, especially involving a celeb or something thats OBVIOUSLY too good to be true.
So…if a guy tells you that he’s ‘clean, thus no condoms are needed’ you should know that’s a line. If someone says that they don’t have a home number to give you, then assume he’s married with kids. Just like if some representative from a cruise line calls you with a great package and all you have to do is pay for the plane tixs…that’s a scam..as is a letter that says that you have money in the bank. That chicks story was such an OBVIOUS scam that even a clueless glambert should have figured it out.

The crazy chick who fooled the tards was doing something for psychological not financial gain. If you did get scammed, it was because you wanted to believe that what she said was true. Not that I actually believe that you got scammed, bc I never trust ‘victims’ who come out of the woodwork when things like this happen. If you did get lied to online, well then babe, join the world at large.

What charities. I read a lot of her twitter and she jumped all over Terri’s murder and went on about charities including donating Adam’s CD to women’s shelter :eyeroll Is Cassidy’s Army a charity? Tweeting about charities is not exactly the same as doing charity work. She set it up to impress ya’ll.
Falling for her buying tickets/VIP table to the show, VIP access to various events connected, airfare, hotel rooms, etc is not the same as having an extra ticket or not being able to make a show and giving it to a friend. It’s just not. It’s not even close.
It seems like another case of mass insanity. Anyone googling this woman’s online activity and tweets can see from a mile away that she’s a fruitbat. The thing is, within the culture of a rabid fandom, this appears as normal behavior. It is common behavior, so it seems normal. Hopefully this will be a wake up call to some. Sorry this happened to you Dragonfly, but you were clearly suspending disbelief. Did you ever even check out her “corporation”?
What I’m wondering about is the only person I’ve seen gain “donations” is the Gossip Candy blog owner. I rarely go there, and only through links, but she’s got a lot of ads. She makes money at this, and paying her own way is 100% deductable because it’s a business expense…
I don’t know how it worked for Gossip Candy, but I do know that she paid her way there with her own money and donations made through her site, at least for the airfare and hotel. Readers offered to donate after she was offered the VIP ticket.
On the 30th, the whole mess came out. Apparently, this woman had reserved tables but never paid for them.
I can’t decide if it was a real Glambert or a cruel troll who just wanted to screw with people. I am also still curious as to how many people, if any, lost money because of this bullshit. I think she also used a travel agency front or some such nonsense.
If that was a troll, they should get some sort of Academy Award for posing as a tard – because they are a classic case with a LOOONNNGGG web trail of tarding, and they signed up at AI Official on May 2nd. May have had accounts before that and were banned because of all the flamewars.

You don’t have ads though, right? Oskar just needs a catnip fix here and there and maybe some tuna 😀 She also has ads for places like Amazon, and I know that not only do webmasters get money for the ads, but also the click throughs and a percentage if something is ordered. Seems like a heavy traffic site, so it ads up. She’s clearly using those funds for more than operating fees by pulling that. I don’t mean to accuse her of anything, but I think the facts need to be pointed out. Most people have never owned a business (most likely our new scammer Kymm as well) so they don’t know that a trip for someone with even a small business like an entertainment blog can be fully written off as business if she reports on events and posts pics and such. She may not make much through the blog, but can use a loss on expenses to deflect another business/source of income.
Is that blog new, or does it’s focus change as her interests do?

I will be moving my site over soon to its own domain (actually, it currently redirects to this one now…www.topidolblog.com) because with the amount of time I spend on this damn thing, I really need to be making money off of it. It is kind of like a second job. I don’t plan on going crazy with ads, though, but having Amazon and itunes links on blogs isn’t uncommon whatsoever. Plus, the percentage you make (with Amazon, its 6% of a sale) is pretty small.
Okay, that’s making sense now. I clicked on it and I could have sworn it wasn’t a Kradam tard site at one point. Kinda dumb that she’s driven away her old readers with that stuff. Flying high for several months then…. new season!!!! She also wastes a lot of bandwidth with stupid GIFs.
I don’t find the ads offensive. I’ve seen some complain at Rickey’s about some Best Buy ad, but I never noticed a problem. I DO have a problem sometimes at MJs with some ad with a bad adobe file or something that freezes my computer 😦 . They, and VFTW and plenty of other places get by fine and it’s not a problem having ads as long as it’s doesn’t interfere with reading. I didn’t know the percentage. I do remember a friend always reminding people on his board to buy through his links if they are going to to help keep the site going. If you like reading a site, do whatever to support it, because it is a lot of work. Even if it’s just giving a few more hits a day and clicking links.

Norton picks up on at least one virus whenever I go to MJ’s. I never have problems with VTFW’s ads though. Maybe that should tell me something.
My Symantec does the same thing, and the 360 iObit I have on another computer has detected some iffy stuff. Warning…I got a Trojan Vundo a month ago (causes pop-ups out the wazoo) and had to restore the whole computer. Thank goodness I still had the code for my MS Office download so I didn’t have to purchase again! But I think I may have gotten it from MJs, or one of the ads on there (or even a link in the comments). I did email and inform her about it, and my new-improved antivirus picks up on it only on her site (well, that and I Can Haz Cheezburger).

I was just lurking at Worst…how old is the woman running Gossip Candy? For some reason I thought she was at least under 35. I mean, that site is an eyesore, and from what little I’d seen, her posts are very…immature. At first I thought she was in her early twenties or late teens. I mean, the girl who runs ontd_ai is something like 16, right? Now that I see photos of her….really? Okay, now I’m not sure about her. She really should know better, and run a site that befits her age.
I was shocked to find out some of the blingee making, what I thought were 13 year old rude brats in the Santard cult were actually even GRANDMOTHERS. It’s strange. I see this pattern and similarity again and again. Many look bad and old for their age as it is. Lots of crazy eyes in pics (and they never pick up on this). Also a lot with ratty long red hair, real or dyed. Adam’s got the same crew, but without the tw/eens, and unfortunately for him, without the gays too 😀 Oh the irony…
He and particularly Tommy, look like they are dying inside in those pics. What I find amazing is that these women get these photos back and cannot read what is so plain to others. They are so proud and post their prize. Seeing this latest batch is starting to make me feel sorry for the lot of them.
I’m cute and still would feel ridiculous posing with Adam Lambert in a photo. At the GMA concert, I had an opportunity to get Adam’s attention, and I suppose could have asked for a photo. However, it would have required me to yell out his name…in public. I could not do it. I could not debase myself in that way. At one point his mother was standing right next to me, I recognized her, she knew I recognized her, I just smiled and slithered away.
Yeah, I don’t get why people want really horrible looking pics of themselves posing with someone who doesn’t know them. It’s weird. Never had the urge either. Or to go up and ask for an autograph. Only time I got those was a few times getting a gift CD or book signed for someone else, in the proper context of a signing. Celebs are people too, and it’s just not okay to treat them as an object when they are not required to act as one.
I think Adam is required to pose for pics, which is why many are in front of that red carpet type backdrop and he’s got his smile down pat, but eyes don’t lie. The ones where they caught Tommy look painful. He’s like “kill me now” 😀 Adam is used to it.

I have thought about what I would say to Adam Lambert, if I ever met him, and I honestly can’t think of anything that would be relevant or interesting or even reasonable. What do these woman say to him? Are they squealing and gushing? Do they tell him all their problems? Ask him for money? Proposition him? Just listing the possibilities is making my stomach queasy with second hand embarrassment. Yet, I don’t have a problem tweeting him. I tweet him shit all the time.

Most normal people don’t bother someone because they are famous, that’s kind of why you can be in the same places and notice someone and maybe get a little excited, but continue to behave like someone who belongs. These women, I think it’s some sort of complex socio economic thing. I was discussing this earlier and it was suggested that the regressed behavior and immaturity of these women may have to do with years of child rearing. I think that is spot on, plus, socio economic, and lack of education. They go apeshit because they in their real lives never come in contact with “celebs” – and now through Idol in their homes, tarding on the internet, they step out into plotting high priced stalking. They need L Anne to teach them how to behave!

I am fascinated by the whole thing. They all seem to have similar stories. The allegiance is mind boggling too. Very interesting, this tard stuff.
What gets me are the people who not only lose it when they see a celeb, but have these crazy expectations. Working in the entertainment field gives you a different perspective on more than just celebrity. The average person has no idea how people get to where they are, and what goes on behind the scenes, and it seems most people can’t even make an accurate guess.
These women who make all these assumptions about what Adam is thinking or feeling. All that projecting. It’s worse than unhealthy. It’s unhinged.
I don’t think it’s the child rearing. I’ve known child-free people who get that way. I’ve seen people from many economic brackets too. It’s the same thing that gets them online. They want more than they have, but don’t have the capabilities, or the intelligence, to get it for themselves. They live vicariously through others instead. They build up this ivory tower around whoever they adore, and project whatever it is that they dream of on to them.
When I meet Adam and faint, I expect him to swoop down and nurse me back to health, completely ignoring his other adoring fans 🙂
He will then tell me how much he loves his fans that try to rip his clothing off and then ask me to marry him.

Very good observations. I think the early breeding though does factor in when connected to other things, at least for a lot of them. I have friends with kids and they are nothing like that, but it’s back to other factors, socio economic. I’ve seen so many with handles including their motherhood in it, which to me is weird that this is so much of their identity. It basically probably WAS their identity, and now the new one is, as you say, living vicariously the dream life away from “hubby” and with a fantistical magical TV star/pop idol.
I put my money on Daddy issues. Adam has a strong paternal vibe, he’s even commented on it, that draws in people with a need for approval and recognition. Ironically, those are the very things that motivates him to succeed.

This blog should prove that alone. Even if you have been careful from day one like I have, you can get burned and attacked. I was involved with a group of connected MBs and knew many in the real world. There were also complete assholes who were regular posters, but that’s a given. What wasn’t, and long story so I’ll make it short, a friend of mine was being befriended/stalked by a kooky frau who I think had a lesbian crush on her. Woman was even getting a divorce because she was in online love with another friend and thought she had a chance with him. Strange as hell, but anyway, she was also a gossip for attention and then spilled tons of twisted personal info to others who are not so nice. I defended my friend and ended up with a creeper who I do not know in real life, but friends I do know him, posting my real name and website and attacking me. I got it taken down but that was a nightmare. Remember even in smaller communities like this, it’s connected to a whole lot of AI scary because it can be read by anyone.
I mean, I can’t see anyone attacking me as really the only place I regularly post is here. I have never given out my last name so I don’t think we will have an issue with that. I’m trying to change my pic but wordpress is being mean.

I think so. My grandma bought it for me once a couple of years ago…It just had a bunch of Jonas Brothers posters and gossip about Miley Cyrus.
Gossip Candy is evenly divided between Kris and Adam posts. She prides herself on it’s fairness. Her posts are updated many times throughout the day and are often very funny. Unfortunately, during Kradam’s heyday it was a love fest of “tinhatting” and “shipping” all things that confirmed their relationship was real.
That’s when I stopped going there. I thought is was cute at first, but, then it became too ridiculous. That seems to have settled down now. However, it is a very click-centric site, with newcomers often made to feel like they are intruding. Candy chides those who brake with the kumbaya tone she has painstakingly created.
As for the scam…
I can see her using her site’s donations to finance trips and to acquire VIP tickets to events, if her reason for going is to provide coverage of that event for her readers. I was taken aback when she requested donations for a new outfit for herself, and plane fare/event ticket for her girlfriend. She posted a second donation button just to raise money for that. I thought that was a bit tacky. Had the coverage been stellar, I probably wouldn’t balk about it, however, the coverage she and her girlfriend provided was minimal, to say the least.
Maybe this scam is just Karma weighing in.

Donations are free of any stipulation. I can’t imagine someone accusing you of defrauding them. I think the swag, donations and deals you get as a result of your site, are earned. If you bragged about it or asked for addition donations to support a trip, even if it is business related, then you open yourself up to speculation and ridicule. It is just good manners and common sense.

If fans want to donate to a blogger they like, then let them. The blogger is a writer – an artist – who offers work in return. Maintaining something like that is a full time job, and this is one way they get paid. Ad revenue doesn’t always cut it. The only thing I’d question was if she claimed she needed help with bills, then suddenly went on a vacation to Hawaii. If her fans want to support her trip, let them. She was upfront about everything.

I’m wondering about a few things. Could Kymm Leibel be working with someone else, more of an in the background type of grifter? Real grifters cannot be tards, because they are too focused on themselves and getting what they want. A tard like Leibel is focused on ADAM. A lot. She could be doing the good old trick of trying to gain access into his “TEAM” for her own position, but she does not have the traditional grifter personality. In fact, the grifters come across as interested, but far more reserved. What I’ve seen two particular cases, one minor, one huge – is that the grifter enlists a crazy and needy tard as the face of the scam to other tards. A cheerleader of sorts. They will trust one of their own.
Example: There was a woman who is an online jewelry seller who came late in the game to the scaryboard Adam folder. I forgot her name, but she enlisted “chaotica”, an annoying ever present tard to hawk her “custom made Official Glambert# bracelets – for only $15 plus shipping and handling…oh, and check out the other things for sale” 😉 She’s one of many that showed up, but you could tell by her posts she was just latching on. She needed a tard as saleperson.
A bigger example and far more complex is a tale of two grifters (mamajaya and pooja) and their use of a crazy tard to rally the troops to the board they set up. Too long of a story, but basically a grifter (pooja) used a crazed fan (Lou) to get contestant’s grifter mother on board for a bizzaro money grab that included 4H visa scams, social climbing in the Asian community, and “Indigo Child” cult crap and spoon bending…
My point is that there may be someone behind Kymm Leibel’s work.
The main stuff which is annoying me, at this point, is the Cassidy Haley stuff. This person knowingly contacted both Haley and his fanclub leaders to “volunteer”, therefore giving her access and “clout” amongst the most devoted Glamberts.

No kidding about HP fandom. I love Harry Potter, but I always just talked and geeked out about it with RL friends. I was warned at the time not to go anywhere near the online fandom. It’s pretty…interesting.
Have you seen that VB from LOTR fandom even managed to work her way into HP? She’s taking on Ms Scribe with her level of delusional behavior. Different, but still vast and amazing.
I do agree with you that everyone who interested or involved in fandom on any level should read about Ms Scribe. It’s a cautionary tale. I’d say the same about Cassandra Claire. Between her machinations for gifts and attention, and her penchant to plagiarize, she’s another one that people could learn a lot from.
I’m not going to kick those Glamberts when they’re down, but it’s stories like this that make me happy I’m such a cynical, untrusting bitch.
Everyone who operates a fansite of any sort should post this in their faq:
a. The “friendships” you make in these few months are based purely on mutual devotion to some guy on a reality TV show. These people don’t “know” you, nor do you “know” them. So before you take up a collection on the board for someone’s vet bills for their kitty, or for an airline voucher to a devoted, but impoverished fan so she can travel the country with the rest of you following our Idol, think about how that money could be used if you were to help a member of your OWN family or one of your OWN life-long, real-life friends.
b. What do you teach your children about the internet? That people they have never met in real life can pretend to be ANYTHING in a chat room or on a message board. Right? So, why would you make plans to meet up and share a hotel room with a total stranger you “met” a few months ago on-line just because the two of you are going to the same AI concert? Why????
c. While I’m sure there are a few generous people out there who would love to share their wealth by giving fellow fans concert tickets, etc, be on the safe side. If you can’t afford to go to a concert, live with it. It’s disappointing, but not really that huge of a deal in the grand scheme of things. In other words: Don’t take candy from strangers.
She seems to have graduated from the L Anne School of Tarding with a Masters Degree in Holly Sockpuppets Scamming. One to keep our eyes on. Has she tarded for anyone else and done the same? Claylene perhaps?
I checked the KLEIBELX2 name further through google. Links to pages and pages of comments all over the place on youtube, music sites, Rolling Stone, gossip blogs, gay blogs, etc. All the same name of course, so the others (and most importantly ADAM) see what a good fan she is! Also Typical OTT tard. I wonder if she wanted to be Queen Tard so badly that she boxed herself into this corner just to be it for a short period? I mean, she had to know the time was ticking and she’d be found out…

Like I mentioned in the other thread (I didn’t know this was being written up!) – that name rang a bell and I checked her twitter. She was all over the Terri situation, the woman who was murdered Christmas Eve. I haven’t scrolled back that far to read it yet, but http://twitter.com/KLEIBELX2 is a typical tard. She’s also trying to get Glamtards to donate Adam’s CDs to womens shelters. Also spams radio stations. I don’t think a scam artist would go through the type of trouble or even have the ability to mimic such inaneness.
I was under the impression she promised these people airfare, rooms etc, all at HER expense. I think we’re looking at an attention seeking scam, like an L Anne.
I’ve found out more and its a helluva lot worse. Definitely attention-seeking and I think her lies ran pretty fraking deep.
So she did scam money off of people? I was confused. It’s terrible to lie to people, but if she didn’t take money from them, then I do look at this differently. Bruised egos are very real, and my heart goes out to all those people even if they could have saved themselves the trouble with a little research.
This is going to be a big one, isn’t it?
I can’t stop laughing about the whole donating Adam’s cds to a shelter thing. Because we all know that’s what they really want and need. Not toiletries, clothing, food or infant care items.
How different is that than sending them to the troops? Not like they could use some chapstick, or an iTunes giftcard to pick their own favorite music.
All CD drives are deplorable, IMHO.
Sorry Mysterioso, just stating where I am coming from to add legitimacy to my opinion on the situation. As far as anything bilogical happening at the time I created my post, well, that’s up to your imagination I suppose.

There is nothing wrong with street-teaming for an artist trying to break into the industry. Unless she has Cassidy’s eyes tattooed onto her back, I’d leave her alone. Not going to lie, I’m a proud member of Allison Iraheta’s street-team.
Street teaming is kind of lame and not that helpful in procuring serious interest in an artist that might actually lead to a recording contract.
Actually it does help. It depends on how it’s done. An organized street team can help with bookings and filling “seats.” They can also make good contacts in clubs and bars that will get A&R out to your shows. So yes, a good street team can help you get a record contract.
I ended up working in music pr briefly. Real street teaming is nothing like handing out flyers to strangers on the street.
As long you guys are there to support Cassidy, I think what you’re doing is wonderful. But if any of it has anything to do with getting closer to Adam I wish a pox on all of you. It won’t work. Got it?
