Oh, Glamberts. When will you ever learn? Myself (and others) have tried telling you time and time again that you’re harming your savior Adam Lambert’s career more than helping it. Spamming radio stations, entertainment reporters across the land, and anyone else who dares to speak [in your twisted minds] BLASPHEMY.
Well then. Maybe you’ll listen to your savior’s label, RCA, because they want you to shut the frak up.
Adam Disqualified from Open House Party VotingJust wanted to let you guys know that Adam was disqualified from this competition this week because the folks at Open House Party realized that some people were mass voting outside of their own cities. Please resist the temptation to do this for this competition, as well as when requesting Adam’s songs from radio stations, because it WILL harm Adam’s image with these businesses, not to mention RCA’s ability to promote him and “Whataya Want From Me.” Thanks.

It was doing that to me yesterday, I just finally gave up…something is messed up. Also, a comment I posted this morning is in moderation.
There have been several mentions of a Lambert fan named “PHDude.” I kept wondering why that name seemed familiar, and finally remembered that there was a RABID Constantine fan on the scaries during his season (and beyond actually) named PTDude, who purported to be one of Connie’s few male fans. I wonder if this guy has now moved on to Lambert with a small name change? (That’s assuming he really IS a guy; we all assumed he was gay during Connie’s season.)
My understanding is that both Lady Gaga and Taylor Swift are attending the convention, also. So it’s not like Kris is slumming it with his time in Vegas. Sounds like a good way to connect with company bigwigs that may hook him up with a good touring gig or possible endorsement oportunities. It’s not what you know, but who you know.

I agree that Adam knows he needs to work, but I don’t think he knows what he needs to do. Too much of this reads like someone just following what his label wants him to do. If he did, he’s pretty clueless in that respect. I don’t mean that as an insult. Lots of great artists are. I just don’t buy this idea that he’s as savvy as some people want him to be. I do think they’re back on the ball, but we’ll see.

Just a mention about America’s Got Talent. One of the best acts I have ever seen is winner Terry Fator. He is amazing and deserved to win. FOX NEWS=EVIL. Oh there was an interview with Kris and a radio station (in Vegas???) that was posted somewhere recently. (don’t remember, IDF?) The host asks Kris if AI was rigged. lol. He sounded half asleep (or stoned…weed cube, you know) on the air as it was, but you could just feel his attitude change after that. I really don’t think the host was trying to be mean, I think he thought it was a random, funny thing to say, and just didn’t know about TEXTGATE or the upcoming AWESOME EXPOSE!

Getting in a little late on this, but I’m from the generation where a fan had to go to the record store and buy a singer’s album to help him/her become a star. We bought music magazines and called our local radio station ONE TIME per day. This is back in the days when people had party lines, and we couldn’t hog them. It may have been primitive, but we helped make stars out of Elvis, Little Richard, Deon, Bill Haley, The Big Bopper, Buddy Holly, and others. We wrote fan letters that may be priceless collectables now. Yeah, we screamed when we saw them in person. They knew we loved them. We also respected them for the great artists they were.
Let’s give Adam some respect along with our love. I’m a Glambert, but I don’t spam. I go to the store and buy Adam’s album, and will continue to do so. He’s been blessed with a huge voice and will go far, if we don’t kill him first.
I wish more people shared those sentiments. It’s like the difference between hugging someone and squeezing the life out of them. Some people don’t know when to quit.
One question… how many times have you gone to the store and bought the CD? Your comment sounds like you are normal and bought one for yourself. Way too many of the Glamberts have budgeted for 8-10 copies per week. I wonder what they’re doing with all of them?

Could any of the Adam tards (or Kris tards) explain what the glamberts mean when they bandy about the word ‘brand’, as in RCA is ‘branding’ Adam or the ‘Adam brand’. They boy is a singer, and these heiffers make it seem like he’s starting a religion. I also think it would be nice to know what the frak they are talking about, ’cause what I’m hearing sounds ridiculous.

Branding was the marketing concept du jour about five or ten years ago. Everybody was trying to brand everything for optimum marketing potential. It was all about knowing who you were marketing to and sending out very specific messages that would sell your product to that market most effectively. Like your cereal is snappy, crackly and poppy while everyone else’s is sad and limp, or your shoes are hip, hot and eco-friendly, so take that, everyone else who is not. Kind of like high concept in movies, if you know what I mean. Taking a few words or some mashup of things (Flashdance = Cinderella in a steel mill) to define you quickly and easy for those in the public with short attention spans and not very much brainpower. But the concept was so overused that it lost pretty much of its power.
Honestly, I do think branding as a marketing concept is relevant to a discussion of Adam Lambert, because he has no brand. He’s all over the map as the second coming of Elvis (sexy, sneery, infusing rock’n’roll with Southern blues and a pelvis) or Freddie Mercury (camp, over the top pop rock) or David Bowie (ambiguous sexually, cutting edge, The Man Who Fell to Earth). Is he Mr. FYE with the S&M and the leashes, Mr. Mad World the sensitive crooner, Lord Gaga with the glitter and the masks and costumes, Mr. Dilana with the Ring of Fire with Middle Eastern overtones, Mr. Liza Minnelli, a gay icon, denying his gayness and pretending to be bi to pander to frauen, a Broadway baby, an emo rebel what? That’s kind of the opposite of branding and what I think is his problem. He seemed to come out of the gate with a “shocking celebrity who’s all about the sex” brand, what with the magazine stuff and the FYE video and performance. But then he put his eggs in more of a “new Cher” basket with Whaddya Want. If he gets some Bob Mackie costumes and starts singing “Gypsies, Tramps and Thieves,” at least I’ll know what his brand is. Now, not so much.
I would actually pay good money to hear Adam do “Gypsies, Tramps and Thieves” mostly because I freaking love that song!

I’m just trying to be the voice of realism here because I am reading things that give the impression that Kris is getting these tremendous Las Vegas gigs and is basically doing tour type performances. And that is not what is happening and people should be aware of that.
Mention Las Vegas and the uninitiated thinks of big sparkly stage settings and big shows for lots of people. And this is not what Kris is doing. He is singing at a restaurant that provides entertainment when at BB Kings. And, none of us know what type of gig he is doing while at the convention….but until I hear otherwise I will assume it is also a small intimate show.”

And since this is a Kris thread and not Adam’s, I’ll be quick and say that Adam has already done these type of small gigs before going on Idol. And the songs on his album just wouldn’t quite work being sung while someone is eating. Adam wants to do more “stage” type performances rather than intimate clubs…and hopefully things are moving forward so that he can do those.
Kris is getting a lot of valuable experience….experience that Adam already has…see You Tubes for more information.”

I am a little surprised that Kris has hit Vegas way before ADam. I can remember when playing in Vegas for Adam was a diss on him. When he failed, he would be reduced to playing Vegas gigs-I think was the motto. Now, it is a great gig. I do get the feeling if it were announced that ADam was playing in Vegas-it would be the butt of a joke and linked to his failure so I am glad he is not doing it-regardless of GAGA. I would like to see Adam performing for people more but I guess they know what they are doing. I am not understanding why all of these performances for Kris are not turning into album sales. Are people seeing him and deciding not to buy it or what? Radio is helping the single but appearances don’t seem to be helping the SELL of “Kris”. I would. I loved what I was able hear from the Gridlock concert. I think smaller venues are great for new artists, it allows them to attract new fans by being accessible. I don’t know why those die-hards act as if Adam should get a free pass to the TOP. He has to prove himself like everyone else. I wish they would just step back and let him do that. That’s where they show how clueless they are. I seriously doubt that Adam has his head full about being a star. He’s always seemed really savvy about what was needed to do well. Oprah is great but I’m sure he’d be happy to do gigs between these high publicity type shows.
The funny thing is that they are so intent on him being an international superstar that they are inadvertently preventing this very occurrence. And by funny, I mean not humorous in the least.

Exactly. These ladies act as if it’s Adam who’s making these choices to not play these events. I would love to see him even if it’s something like that Ford event thing where it was him and a guitar accompanying his voice. In fact, the recordings of that event are some of my most listened to Adam recordings because I think his voice hits these beautiful emotional chords (even though I know he was tired and they aren’t the most ‘technically’ perfect sung songs).

What they fail to grasp is there is a big difference between playing in Vegas at Blues Clubs/ big events and doing cabaret/opening for Susan Boyle or Donny and Marie.

I saw that this morning. LMAO. Notice how nothing else gets misspelled (or at least rarely) yet the name always is butchered.
Adam and his band need about 4-6 weeks of intense rehearsals before performing live shows. Gridlock was great, however he messed up the words quite a bit and his dancing still needs work. He has perfected his pelvic thrusts, but needs to focus on his footwork.
I also think he should consider incorporating some older material like “Glamorize,” “Nocturnal by the Moon,” and “Kiss and Tell,” which are very goods songs that he and his guitarist Monte Pittman co-wrote.
He has such great taste in clothes; however, the suits he wore for the AMAs and Gridlock were awful. They made his crotch look creepy. (That’s my litmus test, right there.) Circus Ring Master is NOT a good look on him. I say, either go ALL the way and wear something completely crazy or wear something hip and stylish.
I like the way he looked on AI(i think there are 2 instead of 1 on the Reality channel tonight, BTW) He’s very handsome sans the extras ….last night was Kurt Russell/Elvis night. Love the freckles and no eyeliner…the cleaner, dressed-down look is best for him IMO, with that voice, why draw attention to anything else? I think there’s more vocal impact with less fuss going on.

This was the first night I started to like Adam. I thought the Smokey song really suited his voice. Loved that Ali got the pimp spot too. Motown Night was also the first night that I thought HBD was attractive. I think it was because his hair looked different…maybe spikier? I started really liking him for his voice the week before, Opry Night, but I still didn’t think he was that cute.
And I BET Adam would love to be performing. The man obviously craves the stage and wouldn’t consider any gig to small as long as he’s showing what he’s got to an audience.
Booking him on these types of shows is one area that I feel RCA didn’t do right by Adam. I still think the Jingle Balls would have been fab exposure for him and would have given him an in with program directors, making it easier to ‘sell’ WWFM.
Seems to me that RCA deliberately chose a different promotional route from Kris, and sticking to a lot of pre-recorded TV appearances. Whether that was the plan from the start or was influenced by the AMAs outcome, I can’t tell. But it looks to me that either they leery of booking live gigs for Adam (Gridlock being an exception because it’s an NYE party after all!) or other booking agents deem him a risk at this point.
What about gigs at nightclubs or party hotspots? His music and persona would fit right in that scene.
ITA VD. RCA seems have mapped out a strategy early on and stuck to until they realized that booking him, even to host some Jingle Balls would help with radio networking. DUH.
I’m not sure why they would be leery to book shows. IMO he’s someone who could be reigned in if need be. Hell, he played the idol tour and he didn’t go over the edge. Adam could do some LA gigs or even more radio spots. I know Kris sang on a number of radio spots. I think WWFM could be done with just a guitar. I could see it being really beautiful and more mournful.

I just got a lot of waffle in return – and advised to wait for the book and then all will be revealed! Oooh the intrigue is killing me! But I must say, if the book is as long-winded, as badly-spelt and unfathomable as her usual posts, nobody will be any the wiser.
Haha. I was just skimming the last 30 comments or so about the Adam fans blaming RCA or other artists? I believe. Anyways they’re so delusional blaming everyone else but themselves. Radio stations don’t like to be harassed. This kind of thing happens quite frequently to other bands/artists with a strong, loyal fan base.
About 3 years ago I was part of this band’s forum. And half of the fans were crazy and worshipers of this singer/band, but at least they are young. Well back to my point. The fans there started requesting one of their last singles a lot to a few radio stations. Eventually we found out they said they would stop playing them completely because of the many outside requests they were getting and the fans were basically spamming them. That last single completely failed. I’m not sure if it was the fans or it was just a crappy single, lol.

Mostly I called radio stations again and again trying to change my voice to request Capital record stars at the direct request of the record company executives. I can hardly wait to see the Adam fans on Oprah all bedazzled in purple and glitter. Oprah’s pretty savvy though. She’ll make sure to weed out the over 50 set. However, they will be showing up in all their glory when he starts touring. Nothing wrong with older fans but I think Adam is expecting a Gaga audience not Grandmas wearing black nail polish.
Oprah is savvy. When she surprised a Josh Groban fan with Josh Groban, she was a cute, 22-year-old. How many of those are there really? So she’ll fill the audience with Adam Lambert fans, not Grandma Glamberts.
And his shows should be hot, sweaty gay club dance parties. But they will end up being hot, sweaty post-menapausal women elbowing their way to the front, cuz they scared away all the fun fans.
There are LOTS of young Josh Groban fans. The first concert of his I went to (yes, I admit it, I’ve seen him a couple of times — he’s actually got a similar sense of humor to Kris), I was surrounded by high school girls who were all dressed up just in case they got to randomly meet him walking around the arena. LOL. Was probably their first concert.
I never liked Josh Groban until I read an interview with him and he talked about playing Nintendo and smoking weekd, and then he did the bit for Jimmy Kimmel’s “I’m F**King Ben Affleck”. Still don’t own an album, but all of that definitely upped the “cool” factor for that guy. I just thought of him as a more talented and legitimized singular form of Il Divo, i.e., young guy who plays for the Metamucil set.
Yeah, he’s actually a cool guy. The way he puts it, this is the kind of voice he has, so he needs to work with what he has. But his favorite artists are people like Radiohead and Bjork. It’s worth digging down into his CDs beyond the singles, there are definitely more interesting songs there.
Yeah, I love Groban too. He did a couple of songs with Herbie Hancock that are pretty cool. He was young and a complete unknown when David Foster got his tentacles into him. Give him time. He’s not even 30 yet. And it’s not his fault he has a voice like that (which I happen to think is pretty incredible) that’s perfect for all that maudlin sh*t. Plus he’s a half-Jew like me and Adam Lambert, so I gotta watch his back! 😉

It seems to be a continuous cycle — glamberts do something crazy, get kinda called on the carpet, but not really because Adam says he loves them for being cray,cray, a couple of DJs say Glams are polite even in their intensity or loyalty or what have you. RCA, OHP, Lambert all trying to appease them, treating them with kid gloves. Does Adam Lambert’s career/record sales depend solely on these Glamberts? If so, that’s damn scary.
All in all, I’d say they are alienating the Real World record buying public. I’ve read comments where Lambert fans are saying that the cray cray have no influence on his career, that most out there in Real life aren’t even aware of the craziness. Well, the DJs and PDs and the Media are well aware of it. Time will tell how they react to it. Once AI Season 9 begins, the media that follow AI will be on to some other story and some other megasuperstar in the making. The Lambert Love might very well be fleeting. I have a hunch they may either choose to forget about Lambert all together or make him out to be a joke — ala Clay Aiken, if he doesn’t break away from these nuts.

To be honest, I watched that one illegal video of Adam in WICKED and his voice is really more suited for theatre than radio. That’s why he did so well on the tour because he knows how to project. But Kris has a better radio voice.

Ugh, tell me about it! As someone who is moving to NYC this spring to be a musical theatre actor, it makes me cringe that Greasy is there and tarnishing my true love (musical theatre, not Adam).
He’s a pretty typical case of the Broadway-type voice not transferring to radio-play. How many singles by Idina Menzel, Gavin Creel, Cheyenne Jackson, or Eden Espinosa have you heard? They all have pop albums out, the only difference with Adam is previous national exposure and the 19E/RCA marketing $$, which obviously doesn’t matter.
One of my best friends is doing the same thing right now. You may have heard me talk about him here…PEARL CREAM! He’s awesomely talented, and I swear the fact he’s a tall, good-looking Asian is going to help his career more than if he were just a tall, good-looking white dude with talent.

Adam has a way of seducing a camera lens, so I would put my money on a film career being his next step. I would not consider anything; Broadway, film or TV, as a plan B, but rather an extension of what his primary goal is. He has stated in a number of interviews that he would love to do it ALL. I think he will. He is great on stage in all capacities. However, is he fails miserably at this pop thing, my preferred plan B for him is PORN! 🙂
