I love it when the Glamberts call out gays on not being good-enough gays

January 20, 2010

Queerty took to task Adam Lambert’s If I Had You performance on yesterday’s Oprah. You know the drill—a sparkle cow stampede ensued. These are my favorite examples of batshit crazy Glamberts being batshit crazy, because they purport to be the experts in all sorts of gayosity.

Yes. Gay is always spelled with a capital “G”!

@romeo:  I should’ve pinpointed my comment specifically to the commenters who are saying that Adam will “get fat like Boy George and disappear” and such. Those negative comments are just hateful and tend to bring out the “crazy” in me, and since the comments were posted on a Gay blog, I assume that they’re coming from other Gay readers. It’s especially infuriating to see those kinds of hateful comments coming from Adam’s own community, and it makes me sad & furious. I won’t be ashamed of or back down defending against haters and stupid comments like that. Of course, it’s possible that the “hate” comments are coming from other random posters/trolls (possibly not from the Gay community) to attract fans/defenders and start trouble.

This comment has win written all over it, as it not only puts gay in title case, it also:

  1. Makes accusatory statements towards the gay community insinuating they are self-loathing homosexuals
  2. Presents a conspiracy theory of haters purporting homosexuality on a popular gay blog in a concentrated effort to stir up Glambert wrath.

Oh for chrissake. If you’re going to be absolutely batshit crazy, you could at least TRY to be intelligent. Of course, then you would be eccentric and not batshit crazy, so I guess you really have zero hope.

or are you just little people..12 maybe 13..surely can’t be adults..

Lambert is here for the long haul, you want to see dwindle..let me spell out this dork KRIS ALLEN, there is the most boring piece of whatever that came out of Idol.

a word to the writer if thats what you want to call them of this ridiculous are a MINORITY…won’t be back to visit this lame site..

What did Kris Allen have to do with anything? Oh yeah. He won. And you asshats still haven’t gotten over this shit…even though Adam Lambert received a recording contract with RCA and just appeared on Oprah. Mmm-kay.

I know this one had to go back and change the word gays to guys. Praise Jeebus.

WTH?! Is there no pleasing you guys? Adam Lambert is a fantastic singer and entertainer! His vocals are crazy and his stage presence is out of this world, not to mention the style icon he is. Good Lord is there nothing crazier than being trashed and eaten by your own? I mean no wonder why Adam doesn’t want to be the Poster Boy for Gay Rights. Youse guys should be applauding his fight to the top and celebrating his courage instead because it isn’t your success you decide to try to belittle his accomplishments and rip him to shreds. Why must you try to pull him down? Jealous much? Your bitterness and name calling is sad. You wouldn’t know greatness if it slapped you upside your square head. Open your eyes and purge out your evil! Adam Lambert is a beautiful gift everyone should be happy to open. He hasn’t lost anything. I can’t believe the incorrect and trashy article you wrote about this artist! I’ll have you know it reflects worse on you than on him. For Pete’s sake this is as bad as hearing folks argue on whether or not Adam Lambert is too gay for American Idol and then Not Gay Enough for the Gay community. I’m just appalled at your lack of ability to see the talent and success this young man has. His future is his for the making and I truly think you are such a sad, sad excuse for a person trying to hinder someones path with such written garbage.

Wow. You’re not helping your cause…and you wonder why everyone thinks you’re nuts?

YOU, gay people, are his worst critics, but women simply love him, and everything he decide to do.

Oh, wow. Sodabyte, who are you? I like you.

I read and comment on many articles about other artists, some whom I like, some whom I don’t… but never have I encountered anything like Adam fans in all my years of posting on the web. Most of the time, the dissenters on other articles are able to civilly state their position and agree to disagree… Adam fans are overly defensive, nasty, quick to label you a hater, homophobe without any cause. Adam is no innocent in this hype swirling around him, not by a long shot. It was his actions and words that helped fuel and propogate a lot of this controversy, so saying he can’t help what gets printed about him is disingeniousness… he has actively sought fame at all costs, seemingly at the expense of putting in the work to build a solid music career… his fans seem to think he should have sprung from the idol stage into instant superstardom, but it doesn’t work that way – people are tired of the overkill, tired of being bombarded with the over the top, obnoxious behavior of his fans that stifle any puts them off… if he is as great as rca, idol and his fans make him out to be, back off, and let his talent speak for itself… back off from bombarding boards and articles with the meme that he is some kind od saviour or second coming in music… allow people the opportunity to express their difference of opinion with accusing them of hating, being anti gay… if he’s all his fans and the media have proclaimed he is, then have enough faith in his talent to let his talent take center stage, then perhaps some attitudes about him and his fans would change…

Nope, not convinced – if over the top fans can make you stop liking a guy’s music, you were never a fan.

I like Adam Lambert a lot, he is a pretty cool guy, with a good head on his shoulders. I like his overthetopness, his risque attitude and refusal to fit into any box. It’s fresh in a way few people dare to be. He’s a good performer and entertainer. I personally don’t give a frak that he is gay, except that the kiss at the AMA was hot as hell. ^_^

But what do I know? Just another obnoxious Glambert. 🙂

Holy…. Did they go crazier? Is that even possible? OMG. Did you read the DontblamemeIvotedforhillary’s internalized homophobia reference? She totally thinks that it is about gays hating other gays!!!”I have scientific proof. It is in an article. You gays hate Adam.” Hilarious. Also the writing style of one comment reminded me of Lori Anne (that was her name right?).

For the Glambert upthread – tinytoes – Adam barely has the approximate level of fame as Khloe Kardashian. Not sure anyone’s envious of that. Same with fortune. Really, he may be more comfortable now, but he isn’t going to make a very special Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous with Ryan Seacrest. The dude is now ” that guy who was on Oprah and American Idol.”

You mean Adam’s version of Starlight is terrible, and overly theatrical, right? Honestly, when I saw footage of Adam’s performances from the tour, I was glad I couldn’t go because I would’ve been killed for laughing at him. Every video I tried to watch – and I did try a few times through out the tour – looked just terrible. I would probably be angry over his crapping all over Bowie with that medley, but I never made it through one video.

Sorry, Lauren. Kradam is still love, and he does fine on his own songs – when not making a drunken fool of himself.

Y’all forgot the Rivers Cuomo/ Weezer song. I dislike Adam’s version, but I bet I might like it more as a disaffected Weezer tune. I still like it more than the You’re the Best/ We Are the Champions” knock off, though.

Yeah, I mean Adam isn’t really that famous. In school when I wear my Adam shirt the response is either a) who? or b) that gay guy from Idol.

You don’t like Adam’s version of Starlight? I don’t think we can talk anymore erinnthered. xD

You hit the nail on the head. In fact, it’s a bit worse because I don’t think she has a pack of tards making a bigger joke out of her claiming that she is the greatest ever and going to save whatever the fuck it is she does 😉 The ONLY Idol people who are real world famous as in pretty much everyone knows who they are outside the Idol bubble:

      Clay (MAYBE)

Carrie, Tool, and Kelly (BIG maybe sort of ish, VERY ish, but not really outside their genres)

You’re a teenager though, and your friends would be more knowing of current top 40 product. I forgot about Boomy. She’s on the low level list with Carrie and Kelly. Tool, yeah, I wondered if I should even include him. The reality is that these people are not famous famous. Adam is working on 14:58 seconds whether you like it or not. The sparkle cows have turned supporters off like we’ve been saying since the first moos were noted… Plus, I really don’t think Adam has the good to back it up. He’s mediocre. He’s an actor. Like him for what he is, but he was too over pimped. It’s backfired.

I should add Fantasia to the sort of list mainly because of the press about her being illiterate and the made for TV movie. Boomy got a lot of press for the murders and being the new president’s hometown girl, but I don’t think it’s going to stick much longer just like the Oscar buzz. Not many roles for her type in movies, and I don’t think her CD was all that successful. Adam is only getting press because of the gay thing and because of the “shock” upset on Idol, but that is old old news and the media are turning on him. Now he’s got a gig right up Guarini and Caldwell’s alley. Soon Constantcrap will out rank his celeb status 😛 The point is, they are all minor celebs and only people who follow this sort of thing would know them.

Nothing wrong with the song. Just responding to Pandora’s comment, is all. My point is that the songs are written by singers who perform those types of songs. Pink gave Adam a Pink song, GaGa gave a GaGa song, Justin Hawkins gave a Justin Hawkins/The Darkness type song and Matt Bellamy gave a Bellamy/Muse type song. So for anyone to say these songs can’t be sung by anyone but Adam is inaccurate.

LOL sorry I didn’t bother reading the whole thread. I feel like Adam brings something unique to the songs when he sings them so while obviously other artists can sing that song, it just won’t be the same. ie. Muse’s and Adam’s versions of Starlight are vastly different.

Doesn’t RCA have a moderator on that site whom would see this? How are they able to determine how Adam is really selling? Every time a Glambert screeches about homophobia, I’d like to dock Adam $1000 and send it to Broadway Cares/Equity Fights Aids. You know, like actors who swear around children have to put a quarter in a jar? I’d like to see some good come out of the cray cray.

Or maybe put the screechy Glamberts in a cage match with Larry Kramer and Harvey Fierstein. I think I know who would win. The Glamberts may look scary, but Larry and Harvey are fierce, plus they’ve been fighting the battle to be out and proud for a long time, blazing trails for reals. Unlike Nancy Boy Lambert, who grew up comfy in Southern California, with loving, supportive parents. Q: Adam, what is Stonewall? A: Oh, I love their pancake mix! And their trifle dish!

It is a sad time for the gay communities, Adam in reality has reached a
position in America where support of the gay community is not an issue.
Adam has traveled this path all by himself, relying on his own skills as a
people person. Honesty, pride and knowing who he is and not staying in the
closet as many have done before him.
Straights across the board admire, respect and support him as a person.
Adam, said many times he wants to be known for his music and not
because he is a gay artist. I don’t think Adam gives a darn about the
gay community past, present or their agenda. He is responsible for
his decisions career wise, he paid a price for the AMAs and has learned
a lesson from his OTT actions. I know there will always be people
who love him and those that hate him no matter what he does.
I am a fan of his not only as an artist but as a honest, up front human
being. I am not a member of any fan club but I read blogs and try
to follow his career. He has my support and I truly wish Adam only
the best in his private life and musical career.

How could Kris not be true to himself when he wrote or co-wrote the majority of the songs on the album? And as for Adam, how could Randy not see that this would be the sort of music that Adam would do? I was not surprised AT ALL, it was exactly what I thought it would be. Adam’s fans love it…so how does it even apply? It’s just like blahblahblah. I know he has a right to his opinion, but shouldn’t it be based on some sort of reality?

Exactly. How quickly people forget all the disappointment that Adam wasn’t the “rocker” he was on Idol….only he wasn’t just a rocker, he was all over the place. Naturally, so is his album. In genre and quality.

On the other hand, as much as I understand that some people wanted some sort of acoustic thing from Kris, I can totally see how his album is an extension of who he was on the show. Kris also said several times he would put out a pop/rock album during the Idol tour, and that was exactly what he did.

Randy is only irrelevant when he says something you don’t want to hear. Well…he actually is irrelevant in the general sense, but in this sense…yeah.

Kris spent six months repeating the word ‘pop/rock’. Adam talked about his electro fushion, dancey dancey combo in the album.

This interview only proves that Randy isn’t even watching the performances on his own show.

Yes- Randy Jackson is totally irrelevant and totally clueless – the only cool thing that man has done was play a couple cords to “Pants on the Ground” on Fallon’s show recently.

He’s as laughable as Kara when she says that Idol will be fine without Simon.

Blacklisted: I love that ‘pop/rock’ is now a word! you should add that to the Urban Dictionary if it isn’t already there. Definition: term used by Kris Allen repeatedly when describing his album 🙂

Hmm, IDK about that. The Heartless cover was The Fray cover, not Kris’s.

Mary102, if youo listen to the Fray cover of Heartless, it’s nothing that Kris did. Kris talked about how it happened… he was listening to Kanye’s version and came out with his version. Kris is that talented

I remember all the arguments about Heartless back when Kris performed it. It was: He copied the Fray, he copied that girl on the MTV show, etc. I actually think it has been said elsewhere that Kris did similar things to this when he was performing in bars and clubs around Little Rock.

And the funny thing about this discussion in the context of this thread regarding Randy: when Kris performed Heartless Randy said he liked his version better than Kanye’s or the Fray’s. Yet Randy still seems against modern music (this from the judge who also was co-responsible for asssigning Kris the modern Apologize as his juedges choice song).

Randy also told Kris during the competition that he knew exactly who he was yet now he’s saying only the girls know who they are. I think Kris does know who he is, yet as Mary102 said, he needs to work on selling that now.

          01/21/2010 at 2:18 pm
I think the fact that Kris had problems changing up Apologize and No Boundaries proves he had problems arranging songs he didn’t pick out himself and knew other versions too.

I have mad respect for both Adam and Kris, and believe they are two of the most talented interpreters of songs ever to be on AI, but for what Kris did to Heartless, the same could be said for Adam’s version of Dilanna’s RoF, or Mad World, or others.

But that’s not the issue, so I don’t really want to go down the “who was better” road. The only issue I had was with the statement that Adam never changed anything. Not correct.”

SO, this person has decided that b/c he didn’t change up these 2 songs, it means that he didn’t have any hand in changing the others? For one thing, NB sucked…how could it have been changed? If I remember correctly, the show told both Adam and Kris to sing it how it was written. And as for “Apologize” he did that the same week as “Heartless”. He did change some small things (ie…adding the “a” to ” ‘pologize”) but, c’mon, you can’t give him a pass on that one song in order to spend more time working on “Heartless”.

I looked up some stuff,… Kris attended a HS called “Mills University Studies” (a gifted/talented HS) where it said he excelled in Music Theory. I think these type programs don’t accept you if you aren’t a “music wiz.”

Anyway, I would think that most of the contestants on the show have some experience in this sort of thing….every Tom, Dick, and Harry on YT does it…so why is it such a stretch? IDK why it’s even an issue.

He did. In his interview with Lindsay Parker he said it was the Muse version and seemed excited that she was familiar with their version. I liked his version better, because it was less angst ridden and more respectful of the melody, but the approach was the same. Vocally, it was one of his best performances.

I highly doubt some random guitar playing college kid did a cover of that shit song from his dorm room and put it on Youtube, so I’ll have to assume he came up with that arrangement on his own.

Transpose the key, for one. Kris doesn’t have the same voice as Ryan Tedder.

I always thought he didn’t change it up for fear of being accused by the judges of changing up everything. I could’ve sworn he actually said so the night of the show.

Here’s the thing. I could care less if an artist can or can’t change up a song they didn’t elect to sing. 99.999% of all songs any artist performs they actually choose. And in any real world situation they have plenty of time to work on it until they’re happy with it. In many cases they work on it in front of their live audiences over time. How do any of their critiques actually say anything bad about Kris as an artist?

No wonder Adam Lambert’s music is being blacklisted on the radio. No wonder so many gay actors, and entertainers are afraid to ‘come out’. ShameOnYouQueerty.”

Cause Queerty thought one performance was bad. This is why we can’t have gay marriage!

The ones who start to like other Idols too much will be culled from the herd as not “real” fans. The separation of “real” fans from “others” begins about this time every year, with the “real” fans judging who qualifies based on their enthusiasm for the bulge and for the people who love the bulge, the level of their devotion to bulk-buying and spamming polls and running around the internet defending their beloved, who buys the best gifts for the beloved, who rips off others among the fans who gets acknowledged by the fantasy lovah, even in a negative way, and the general mental health of the individual fan. This will become especially apparent if the unfaithful fans like somebody who is in some way perceived to be competition for the beloved. So if it’s somebody who makes the mistake of covering covers done by the beloved, or dresses vaguely like the beloved, or has hair in the same vague style as the beloved, or somebody somewhere suggests that this new person does or has ANYTHING related to the beloved, then the herd will turn and stampede anyone who likes the new person.

I actually started out as an Adam fan. But over time I got disenchanted with him because his fans were so repugnant to me, and some of the things he said and did turned me off too, since they were antithetical to my own tastes and opinions (for instance, his love of Aguilera and Britney and such just makes me go WTF).

At the same time, I noticed that the ostensibly boring, plain Kris Allen actually seemed to have pretty good taste in things, and lo and behold, his fans seemed pretty cool too. So I gave his music a listen, and discovered a rather wonderful musician and person in that humble “nobody” who happened to win Season 8.

You can be vastly inadequate at what you do and so long as you say you like gay people you will be loyally supported by these gay people. So you won’t see any stories about poor live performances by Lady Gaga or Madonna or tasteless jokes by Kathy Griffin.

The expectations laid on Adam Lambert, from all quarters (including the gay community) have been outrageously burdensome – demanding the kind of “product” associated with artists who have already made their mark in the industry. In many ways he’s been denied the ‘process’ of being young, talented and raw – a stripling in the music industry.

His debut album, produced over a 3 month period, fulfilled his promise that it will not be genre specific, yet has made enough impact to attract a further 200,000 or so fans (who are not idol related) to his existing passionate, loyal and intense fanbase (over 400,000 fans on Facebook and over 300,000 followers on twitter). Nor has his polarizing effect, as a transformative pop rock singer, lessened in any way. If was way too OTT with his For Your Entertainment video, now he is playing it too safe with Whattya Want From Me. It’s apples and oranges folks. If you don’t like Lambert’s music, go elsewhere.

People who are into music are happy to let Lambert grow into his own artistic shoes, not the ones every man and his dog wants him to wear.

With Lambert, however, there is always going to be a range of detractors, gay or straight, who don’t care about his music and never will. They have other reasons for disliking him.

I think Adam has tremendous gay support. Where is this attitude coming from?

    Queerty is homophobic. 🙂

Seriously, when will the Glamberts let Adam’s gay go??? It’s not even a piece about his homosexuality and that still brings out the Too Gay vs Not Gay Enough argument from them.

Besides, don’t the sparkle cows not-so-sekritly think he’s not really gay and will one day shack up with one of them and make little glitter babies? If so, doesn’t that make him Not Gay Enough? Why should the gay community support a dude who is going to end up liking vag?

Adam doesn’t want to be a poster boy for the gay community because he knows no gay man wants to be adored by fat cows who abandon their children and husband to stalk them on the internets and make tribute videos to their crotch!!! What kind of message would that send? All the gays would go into hiding!

      LOL!!! That’s hilarious.

You know, I find myself totally sick of Adam sometimes because of his herd of nutball fans, primarily the ones that skulk around waiting to pounce on anyone who doesn’t think he farts glitter and magic dust. And then I realize that it isn’t his fault and I feel better. Except that I thought Cook fans were bad (and I’m a Cook fan myself, but I’m scarred for life from 50+ yr old ladies standing on their chairs in front of me yelling at him lustfully)… and I’m now kinda scared to go anywhere near an Adam show. The defensiveness of his fans is just… more OTT than the OTT usually is for these Idol boys. They are still *really* angry that Kris won, lol.

There were a couple of times at the Cook show I attended where I thought some bitch was gonna shank me with the cap to her Metamucil.

      • January 20, 2010 8:36 pm

After the throwdown I was privy to at the last Cook concert I attended, his fans still continue to scare the sh*t out of me.

        • January 21, 2010 12:05 am

Maybe I got lucky and all I had was skeery grandma-aged lustful lady on top of her chair howling at him like she was in heat. No fights. Though the “regulars” with their big smug faces did sorta make me want to kick them in their shins with pointy boots 😉

Cook came within 20 miles of me, and I really liked him on the show, but I passed because I didn’t want to have to contend with the Fukc Bunnies and the Sparkle Cows and the stampeding horde and… Whoever those people are that Idletard used to document. And when he came here? It was a 2,000 seat theater that didn’t sell out. I kept getting emails from the venue shouting, “GOOD TICKETS STILL AVAILABLE!” I checked about two days before the concert and there were still tickets in the orchestra available. Which means he probably sold a thousand of the 2K.

And that’s Cook, who is actually very popular. I was shocked he couldn’t sell out a 2,000-seat theater. I guess I could’ve gone for the balcony and sat by myself while all the rompin’ stompin’ frauen crowded the front of the main floor.

In the meantime, I am proof positive that the presence of the thundering hooves can scare off some fans, and they just won’t be fans anymore. I liked Cook a lot, but not enough to have to be identified with THAT crowd.

I’ve been to two Cook shows, and just to be clear, the show he and his band actually put on? GREAT show. The crowds? Yeah, to be avoided. One show was assigned seating in a theater, and we were next to a thin attractive frau and her tween daughter; both were perfectly polite and cheered at appropriate times. The other was GA, I was 10 “rows” from the Front Row Crew, next to a family of 5, saw the band fine, heard the music fine, etc. I had read enough to know that even if I HAD been in the front those bitches would probably have pushed me out, so no great loss. I did go to the buses, but I would NEVER do that again. That’s where the truly rude, ravenous frau hang out.

Oh God, Q3 and NYC are at it again in the sales thread at MJ’s, belittling Kris every opportunity they get and posting long, inane lists to prove that Adam is superior in every way. Slamming Kris is not going to make Adam look any better, and it sure as hell doesn’t make them look good at all.

    • January 20, 2010 7:07 pm

I thought they hated MJs and were going to delete their bookmarks. Did they forget?

Q3 is a nutball. And there’s some tiger82 or something that makes me want to find her and smack her… hard. And not in a sexy way.

I’ve got to stop posting over there. Those threads always start out OK, but turn into Tardzillaville in a matter of 30 posts. Q3 is bad, but nyc is making me think about cranking up the beatdown bus and going on tour with a Louisville Slugger in tow.

It’s so sad. I’m surprised they haven’t boycotted OHP yet since LLWD gets played on that show now and they haven’t warmed up much to WWFM again since the suspension. Both songs get about the same amount of spins now. OHP is clearly homophobic.

“cranking up the beatdown bus and going on tour with a Louisville Slugger in tow” – Burgundy you are my hero!

I saw the article and didn’t bother to read the comments b/c I knew what was coming. This type of fan reaction has gotten no less revolting as time passes, in fact, the intensity of my gag reaction has actually increased. These people piss me off and make me sick at the same time.

Don’t even get me started on the Kris bashing. I’ll add some spikes to the wheels of the “beatdown bus” and run them over with it! hehehe! (joking!… or am I?)heh!

Seriously, it’s just too much- to the point where it’s starting to lose it’s humour.

ha, I just read this article and I wondered if you saw it. classic, right? what amazes me (not really) is the writer meant no harm or disrespect with his/her words. and he/she clearly states the site is an Adam fan. for the life of me, I don’t understand why in order to be supportive of an artist, one must be blind with love.

btw, you left out my favorite comment:

    No. 5 · Jeff
No wonder Adam doesn’t court the gay community. They are his worst critics.

Does every time the man opens his mouth have to be life-changing? And just because you are gay doesn’t mean you have to like every gay man/woman on Earth…gay is who you are attracted to, not an all-encompassing stereotyping personality trait/taste.

That song isn’t necessarily a great one to perform live, either. It’s more of a sweaty, get-drunk, dance in the gay/Euro club type song.

I know. During the season I thought Lambert was dorky and overhyped but entertaining, and his album just kinda ok, not bad.

But now I actively hate sight and sound of the guy and want him to fail, pretty much from reading posts just like the ones above. He seems to have collected the most insanely awful, tardy, repellent fans from every other weird fandom and morphed them into an army of bile-dripping warthogs.

Glad I could delurk and get that off my chest.

Oh my! Glamberts need to calm the fuck down. Buying/gifting multiple copies of his single (read this on AO) to boost him on itunes. I wish they would stop doing this stuff. You have no idea how well he is really selling with all the bulk buying. And preaching to gays about them not supporting a fellow gay. These damn old farts don’t know crap except how to spam every article, radio station, vote polls etc . Sorry I hate these Adam fans. They ruin it for the sane fans and they only make me dislike Adam more than I probably would of ever thought.
