Kris Allen is going to Haiti. Glamberts say he’s drunk.

January 24, 2010

I knew it! I knew the Glamberts would try and twist Kris Allen’s announcement about going to Haiti into something ridiculous. Are you ready for this one?

Kris Allen is a drunk.

Preposterous! Of course, not if you listen to some of those, um, what do you call them? CONCERN TROLLS? Kris Allen is currently in New Orleans — he’s about to sing the National Anthem for the NFC Championship (Vikings vs. Saints) and he did a couple of interviews beforehand. He discussed his upcoming trip to Haiti to help the earthquake relief effort and his excitement over singing the National Anthem before the game. So you know, he’s a drunk.

Anyhoo, judging by Allen’s exuberance and the fact he’s uh, in New Orleans, some individuals are claiming Kris Allen was high or drunk.

I am not saying this to offend anyone, but as someone who’s had more than a few cocktails in her life I can tell you with no doubt in my mind…..Kris was a little tipsy in that interview.

He is over 21. And he’s in New Orleans. Adam Lambert openly discusses his love of drinking on stage, so um, why is that acceptable? Drinking is fun! But come on asshats, must you try and use any ridiculous thing in a sick & twisted effort to tear the kid down? Do you really think its HELPING your equally sick & twisted efforts of…what are you trying to do? Do you want American Idol to say that they screwed up and recounted the votes from LAST SEASON and decided Adam Lambert is the true winner? Because the longer this behavior goes on, the more and more stupid/batshit crazy you prove yourselves to be.

He’s about to sing a difficult song, a capella, in front of millions of people. I guess it’s up to the individual whether that’s easier after a drink or 2, or not, but I don’t think it helps the voice.

After listening to the interview, I sort of love Kris Allen more. If he did have a few cocktails and oysters (how Don Draper/Roger Sterling of him!), sweet. Good for him. He also loves the New Orleans Saints. Hell, its also amazing how he can still politely answer the questions about Adam Lambert in EVERY SINGLE INTERVIEW.

Kris Allen kills in interviews. THE GLAMBERTS ARE JUST HATERS. YOUSE ALL ARE HATERZ.

In my opinion, Kris Allen also killed the national anthem. I dug it. I hate the over-the-top diva shit, so…yeah, I dug it.

the glamberts are incensed and butthurt because while kris and other celebs have stepped up to try and do what they can to aid the relief effort, adam’s red carpet appearances and blatant famewhoring for the sake of famewhoring is looking extremely cheap, and shallow in the extreme. contrast lambert’s activities outside of that psa with kris’s, david cook’s, even david archuleta’s documented and ongoing effort on behalf of many charities and lambert sticks out like the shallow sore thumb that he is… his fans are like a bunch of emotionally crippled immature jerks that have me wondering really about their sanity, and emotional stability… how do you get to be so old and so stunted emotionally. i feel this whole thing coming to a head soon, with the glamberts getting the smackdown to end all smackdowns…

Why is Kris going to Haiti? What is he going to contribute? Does he have medical experience? There are numerous people in my area going there, but without exception, they all can assist medically– Many doctors, nurses and technicians. These are legitimate questions for Kris and fans. If you notice, all the stars on the Friday night international efforts for Haiti contributions did not even say their name or were presented. They minimized themselves for the larger cause. So my bottomline question is what does Kris have to gain by visiting Haiti at this time? He announced it with millions of viewers watching. That’s that about?

He was doing a radio interview. Hardly broadcasting it to millions of people, and it was mentioned almost as an after thought.

You can’t call the guy out on doing something good. Period. And how many people do you think they need to start REBUILDING?

Jesus. I just don’t get it this mentality.

Are you even effing kidding me? It’s not just medical expertise that is needed. Who the hell do you think is going to clear garbage & debris, haul water and distribute food, provide a shoulder to cry on, or an ear to listen, put up temporary shelters, rebuild homes? Doctors & nurses? They need people to do the selfish grunt work and other manual labor. You know, people that aren’t afraid to break a sweat in case it ruins their makeup.

      Have an freaking clue.

When exactly did he “announce it to millions?” Did he have subliminal messages in his National Anthem performance?

        January 25, 2010 11:18 pm

OMG! You didn’t get the subliminal message???!??!!!?? If you look closely you will see that his expression changed on the word “there.” There = Haiti, obviously. He was so telegraphing that he was going to Haiti! And then that part about rockets bursting in air. He’s such a fame ho that he is expecting rockets to burst in air because he goes to Haiti!!!! I’m not kidding!!!! That is totally what he’s expecting!!111!!eleventy!!!11!!!!

It’s the same way he begged people to vote for Little Rock in Seacrest’s contest by narrowing his eyes once during a performance (narrow = Little, get it?) and then he had the gall the ORDER people to vote in the VH-1 thing by slightly raising his voice on a word that began with the letter V.

It’s all going to be in my book, “Forget About Hitler — Criss Allon Is Sending You Subliminal Messages and Making You Do Exactly What He Wants!!! Without Your Permission!!!!”

        • January 25, 2010 11:27 pm

Dang, I missed it. I must’ve looked up “Kris Allen” instead of “Chris Allon” or I would’ve been able to find the secret decoder ring to figure out all the coded messages in the anthem. I JUST NOW realized that when he said “gave proof through the night” he really was saying “will be PROOF of my MIGHT’ because that’s why he’s going – PR – so he can sell more albums cuz he’s a hero.

Q: Why is Kris going to Haiti? A: He was invited to go by an (as yet) unknown group

Q: What is he going to contribute? A: IDK and neither does anyone else, but he has done this before, and I’m sure he knows the drill (don’t take up time, resources, don’t get in the way, etc…)

Q: Does he have medical experience? A: I doubt it. Medical experience is not necessary to unload a truck, distribute water/food, help with temporary shelters (he does have carpentry experience)

“There are numerous people in my area going there, but without exception, they all can assist medically– Many doctors, nurses and technicians.”…. [Well then, if they are ALL medical personnel, I guess there would be a need for other sorts of aid workers. (even filling out paperwork is a needed task)]

“These are legitimate questions for Kris and fans.” ….[These were legitimate answers from a Kris fan.]

“If you notice, all the stars on the Friday night international efforts for Haiti contributions did not even say their name or were presented. They minimized themselves for the larger cause.”…….[Good for them.]

“So my bottomline question is what does Kris have to gain by visiting Haiti at this time?”…..[Why does there have to be a “gain”? Is it so hard to understand altruism?]

” He announced it with millions of viewers watching. That’s that about?”….[How does a radio interview have viewers? I bet that local radio station was happy to learn that millions were listening. He was asked a question, he answered it. Shut the Fuck up.]

    • January 26, 2010 1:14 am

phyllis-“So my bottom line question is what does Kris have to gain by visiting Haiti at this time?”

Have you try answering your own question?

He is going for relief effort. TO.HELP. And for those saying this is just for some PR or some nonsense to promote himself or his own album, that’s BS. He can’t prevent if the media writes about it or if there is some sort of coverage. He is now a public figure.

Yes, he is not a doctor or a professionals you mentioned above but at least he had done this before. He already has an experience so I guess he knows what he is getting into.

Uh…usually when you go on philanthropic trips to third world countries, it’s not about what you have to gain from it (besides a better understanding of other cultures, a connection to the global community, upping your good karma points…) but what YOU have to offer as a service to those in need. Haven’t you ever thought of it that way? I’ve volunteered for Habitat for Humanity and Volunteer San Diego and it’s not like I did it for the free coffee or the T-shirts they give away for participating.

Kris rises above the flak. I’d say he’s more concerned with helping these people than whether or not Tess or any other Glambert approves or disapproves of what he’s doing. They are not nor have ever been in the equation. They may think they are due to their egocentric world view and the perpetual ego-stroking from the middle-aged minions.

I can’t see him exploiting these people for AI or anyone else. I’m sure human dignity is first and foremost in his mind. In fact, I think he’ll put a stop to anything that doesn’t sit well with him. I will even go out on a limb and say Kris is there to work and only work. If IGB gets footage so be it. I personally want to see how things are getting done, what the volunteers are doing, how the people of Haiti are helping themselves,as well, to rebuild their country, a daunting task at best.

Good luck, erinntheread, with the writing. Hope you catch a break soon. Fingers crossed.

My husband showed me a comic recently that seemed apropos. It went like this: “The news will no longer be written by journalists.” “Who will write it?” “Uninformed blowhards who live in their mother’s basements.” It’s not really too far from the truth.

I think this one is either brain dead or trying to brand Kris Allen as a um, SCIENTOLOGIST.

As far as Kris going to Haiti, John Travolta mentioned at an awards show this weekend that they would be filling a plane with supplies, doctors and volunteer ministers and taking it down to Haiti on Monday. I wonder if this is the organization Kris is associated with since he was supposed to do the telethon last Friday. This statement was made on the Living Legends of Aviation Awards.

Maybe that’s why he was invited. Good for Adam and he should enjoy it, just like he said on Oprah…who knows how long this fame will last, have a blast and enjoy it all…heck I would not say no to attending the SAG awards if asked…I can bet Adam will be in a film or TV eventually, the writing is on the wall…and Adam knows that money in entertainment comes from more than just music…he is branding himself and apparently shot sunglass ads for Flaunt magazine (money and more money)..sell it Adam (yourself)…Kris did ok, but he was better during the NBA finals (Jordin Sparks made him look kinda bad though)…Adam should sing it at the Super Bowl…

Ruh roh. I didn’t think of that possible bad outcome of the “A GIRL WILL WIN” theme of Idol this year, that there might be no one new to suck of the toxins of Glambertia and free Kris from their attentions.

I take comfort in that fact that Constantine came out of a season with a girl winner. Even a mid-range Precious may be powerful enough to sway the Fraullums.

Sanjaya and Blake got a good share of fantarding, and they were in another season with Randy proclaiming that A GIRL WILL WIN, DAMN IT!

I don’t know why they care who wins or why they care if it’s even girls/boys or whatever — they make a ton of money off the show whether the winner sells any records or not, and they make a ton of money off non-winners like Daughtry in years they don’t like the winner. Randy can say that girls sell more records than boys till he’s blue in the face, but Clay vs McPhee in the Battle of the #2s? Clay wins by a landslide.

When there’ve only been eight seasons so far, with four female winners and four male winners, it’s pretty hard to have enough data for comparisons, but there’s no way either gender has dominated so far.

The wank leveled at Kris regarding his trip to Haiti smacks of desperation to me. If it were any other celebrity going to Haiti, would the Glamberts or what have you throw such a fuss? Would they have the same issues if Adam himself decided to pay a trip to Haiti? I think I can guess the answers to these questions.

Kris had a good week: his video was #1 at VH1, he sang the National Anthem before one of the most highly-anticipated, exciting games of the football season, and now he plans a trip to Haiti to help out in any way he can, which, given his past experiences in missionary work, means that he might actually have some idea of what to do down there. But it seems as though that there are those who interpret any success of Kris’s as a knock against Adam, and I just don’t understand how one has anything to do with the other. If Adam is destined for great things, then nothing Kris accomplishes (or does not accomplish) should have any bearing on that.

Here’s the thing about Kris Allen or how I see it. He’s got two passions: helping people and music. There is no ego involved.

My son was an altar server during his grammar school years. A deacon had told him once that “he walks humbly” on the altar and it was a privilige to watch. Of all the compliments my son has recieved that resonates with me the most.

Kris Allen walks humbly and it is a privlige to watch.

I just don’t see how Kris’ not so sucessful missionary experiences could qualify him in emergancy rescue.”

It sounds as though you have read something with details about Kris’ past trips. I have been looking for info about his missionary work. Could you provide the link to the article you read? It would be helpful to me. Who contacted Kris to be part of their emergency rescue efforts? I did not see that info provided in this post, or hear it in the interview! If you would, please let us know where you saw this, I would be interested in reading more!”

This comment is currently in moderation. Will it fly under MJ’s sarcasm radar, (it technically follows the guidelines,… or will I get banned? 🙂 ) Seriously though, Babybelle keeps repeating “not so successful” and “emergency rescue” (well, in her own misspelling-laden way). She’s making crap up. Where does she get the idea his past efforts were failures? Where is it said he’s doing rescue work? (I think the “rescue” part has come to an end) He’s unloading water from a truck for all she knows. Moron.

MJ treads VERY carefully around the crazies. She bans everyone who goes against the rules but since Kris fans are usually the one’s responding after the fact, they get screwed over often since they are going against the rules (i.e. it’s not a fansite thus one can’t respond to negative comments or obviously baiting comments b/c it leads to fanwarring).

Some people can’t say anything nice about Kris. They complain that he’s boring, and then when he shows some real personality in his interview, they claim he’s drunk.

Meanwhile they accuse Kris — who is probably one of the most publicity shy people to come off Idol — to be going to Haiti as a PR stunt. Just ignore the fact that he has been going on missionary/humanitarian trips all over the world since he was a teenager — worked with AIDS victims in Africa, with tsunami victims in Asia, etc…

I don’t remember people accusing Adam of seeking publicity when he was encouraging his fans to donate to the DonorsChoose.org (not should they have — I thought that was a wonderful thing for Adam to support). So why make stupid, blatantly false, attacks on Kris?

I don’t understand why some people don’t seem to realize that Kris’s success or failure as a musician has NOTHING to do with Adam’s success or failure — and vice versa.

It’s hilarious reading the Glamtards’ meltdown to Kris’ successful weekend. He earns the #1 video on VH1? His cray-cray fans powervoted. He does a really good job with the NA? His voice is thin and reedy. He goes to Haiti on invitation from someone who knows about his past missionary work? He’s a famewhore. Watching them wet themselves over Kris’ success is so much fun!

And really, FU to Chris Sligh. He’s entitled to his opinion, but not once has he said anything positive about any Idol. He just throws stuff out there because he knows some media outlet will latch onto it and he’ll get his name in the press. What a bitter jerk he is. He can take his Sideshow Bob hair and shuffle along.

I got to keep it real – Kris is better off sticking to smaller venues. His voice doesn’t have the range to take on a big song like the NA. I read where he still has the weakest selling album of all the winners? That concerns me, because Ruben Studdard started way stronger than Kris, and Ruben was liked by 19E, yet he is now considered one of the least successful winners of all time, next to Taylor Hicks. And both Ruben and Taylor were eventually dropped by their labels.”

(if anyone is confused, Mitchell is Adam’s middle name)

Well, the SSB was written well before the 1980s, so he wouldn’t have been able to sing it during “year you were born” week. It definitely wasn’t a Michael Jackson or Disco song, so it wouldn’t have cleared those weeks either. The nutty tards seem to be angry at Kris for getting attention this weekend (vh1, itunes show, interviews, SSB at game, etc). Actually, I usually am all about maintaining people’s privacy, but I have little sympathy for Sligh in this case since he is very public in his comments about other Idol contestants. I normally love Sligh’s comments, but I did a complete WTF with his comments this time about Kris Allen and the NA. I don’t mind if someone doesn’t like one of my favorites, but Sligh’s musical facts and analysis are just completely way off this time. I have no clue what Sligh thought he heard, but I flat out disagree with Sligh musically about Kris and the NA.

I am not a professional singer, but I can analyze the hell out of a singer’s performance and I have excellent hearing from a musical standpoint. The NA is one of the few songs I know inside and out. Back in high school I even did a project where I compared and contrasted multiple versions and it has been like an ongoing project since then. I have tried out various versions of the NA which is not the norm for me with a song. I think my issue has more to do with being a NA-tard than it does with being a fan of Kris. LOL

Normally, I don’t really know a song well enough to have such a strong opinion. Sligh’s comments about changing pitch multiple times is a major WTF to me. Kris sung NA more in the vein that I think of as a R&B version, which makes me wonder if Sligh mistook Kris singing a different note than the note that Sligh expected as being off-key or “changing pitch” when it was really a very slightly different arrangement. I am going to try to behave and not guess anymore than that and leave it as a disagreement with Sligh.

I really do try to respect people’s right to have an opinion, but it made me realize that Sligh knows a whole lot less about music than I previously thought that he knew. So I think the real problem may be that I thought too highly of Sligh before now. I feel mostly disappointed. My opinion of Sligh went majorly down.

I do agree about not piling it on, so I did not respond to Sligh. My only comment about Sligh is here on this thread. So I am not to blame for any of the Kristards, but I kind of like Kristards sticking up for Kris a little bit, even if this is not a good way to do so. Ignoring Sligh on this one would be the best thing though (which I did not follow my advice for this post LOL.)

Soapbox, I wasn’t even replying to you. It’s all good. Plus, you’re probably right about him being thrown by Kris arrangement. I’ve hating something the first time I heard, only to go back and realize my dislike came from not getting what I initially expected. I, on the other hand, loved the down home, Southern style arrangement. My fave NA is the Marvin Gaye ’83 NBA All-Star Game, so there you go.

After Cook sang at the NBA finals after his win, I tried making a post on memorable NA performances. All I can recall is Whitney Houston’s, which I absolutely loathed. But it was at the super bowl when we had our first war in so many year. And people were excited we were going to war, not b/c we were trying to good, but I think they were just excited we had some sort of armed conflict because it made things, uh, exciting. Therefore, Whitney Houston’s Star-Spangled Banner was so perfectly timed and packaged…yeah, you know what I mean.

Yes, there is a need for volunteers. A man in my area just took a week off of work, because he has a plane and there is a need for someone with a plane who can fly supplies to Haiti.

Sometimes the best thing to say in life is nothing at all. In hindsight Kris should have never opened his mouth about his volunteer trip to Haiti. He set himself up for a lot of flap without even realizing it, I am sure. Hopefully next time he does something like this he will have learned his lesson and not talked about it or waited to talk about it when he comes home. Altruism is always a double edged sword.

I’m going to have to call bull on this. People are going to criticize Kris regardless of what he does, and it has nothing to do with them thinking that his volunteer work is a bad thing. When Adam asked his fans to donate to one of his favorite charities, people criticized Kris for not doing the same thing. Nobody would ever step up to help others if they were worried about being criticized, since there will always be people who find that easier than actually doing something themselves to help. Kris is a very smart person, and he’s had to deal with a certain fan base for almost a year now, and I’m pretty sure he knows where their criticism stems from. Kris’ concern is helping the people in Haiti, not placating irrational people who aren’t going to be happy with anything that he does, unless it involves him failing. Frankly, these people’s opinion of Kris doesn’t mean a darn thing.

                  TI,

This is my favorite version of the Star-Spangled Banner by En Vogue. Go to 4:45 on this video to hear them. IMHO, they sang circles around Destiny’s Child.

Here’s the link in case I fail at embedding:

Kinda scary that a Paula-ism like “pitchy” has entered the lexicon. Oh, Paula. You’re so influential!

That word infuriates me! “PITCHY” IS NOT A MUSICAL TERM!!!!! There, I feel better.

Pretty sure Randy copped it from Paula, but it hardly matters. They are both buffoons who make up words that mean nothing.

PR? heh funny those other missions he went on before he was the American Idol.. what were those for? No camera crews. He almost died on one and gave his prized guitar to a local impoverished singer on another. God he’s such a douchbag publicity whore. My eyes could not roll any farther back in my head. Nothing to do at this point but point and laugh at the sparkle cows.

I heard the interview, he sounds like I do when I get excited, and I don’t drink. But even if he did, so what? He’s in New Orleans, at the NFC Championship getting ready to sing the national anthem, the crowd is all whipped up, he’s a huge football fan. He’s not going to sound like he just slammed the snooze button for the third time.

Oh Glamberts, now that Kris has disproved your boring theory, you just have to find something else to justify your resentment, which is *counts fingers* 8 months too long!!

TI, I love how they piss you off. It’s how I get when I read anti-Adam crap. I’m learning to roll my eyes more and react less. Today I lurked at both Ricky and Queerity(or some shit) and nearly rolled my eyes right out of their sockets. 🙂

    PS
Kris sounds a little drunk! But I like that! In fact, I’d like to think he was slurping jello shots off the ass of a really hot stripper right before his interview! 🙂

I know! I hope he doesn’t get in trouble. Adam drank on stage. He talks about drinking all the time, but Kris has one or two cocktails in NEW ORLEANS and he will get grief. It’s like a kristard mocking Adam’s fashion sense for wearing plaid.

I love how the one time Kris is actually AWAKE and cheery for an interview, everyone thinks he’s drunk. Clearly everyone needs to go back and watch those videos from Philly—he actually *does* have a personality. Shocker!

Oh, and the DJ tweeted that he was 100% sober: “1. Kris Allen was my first on air interview. 2. He’s a sweetheart. 3. He was 100% sober. I can’t wait for the national anthem! Go Kris” http://twitter.com/B97JennaJ/status/8163584779

Well, I guess the DJ who did the interview heard about these rumors because she tweeted that he was a sweetheart and 100% sober. Oh, and he just killed it on the anthem.

    • January 24, 2010 8:01 pm

Aw, he did well on the anthem? Ima get my popcorn, the Glamberts are going to lose their mind. Too much good stuff from Kris lately, lol.

Yeah, I agree he killed it in a bad way. I actually like Kris, but that sucked big time. It’s beyond his range. He was terribly pitchy. He needs to stick to what he does best, and that’s not the National Anthem.

      • January 26, 2010 1:27 am

        LMAO.

Do you really just imply that he shouldn’t sing (or even try) the national anthem? Of US? where he is a citizen?

So, what should he sing then?

Big shock with the posts on MJs, lol. He’s just doing it for PR! nyc, Tess… UGH. Nasty old hags, their bitterness is just above and beyond. I thought people were bad last year with David vs. David but this year is insane. It makes me root for Kris even more.

I was glad that someone pointed out that if Kris’ trip to Haiti being filmed ruins it because it is PR… that doesn’t that mean that Adam’s PSA was… also for PR?
