Dear Adam Lambert, I hate (a lot of) your fans. Love, Top Idol

January 26, 2010

Although we’ve already moved onto season 9 of the wondrous shit show otherwise known as American Idol, a particular group of batshit crazy nutjobs (Hmmm…who could it be…hmmm…who could it be now?) continue to raise the bar of abject deploribility and utter hilarity.

And before we start, for those who might be new, one Kris Allen and one Adam Lambert have not been in technical “competition” with one another since May 2009. However, this ongoing battle has never ended for some women, whom, for collective purpose, we refer to as Glamberts or Glamtards. They’re like the Vietnam vet Bruce Springsteen sings about in I’m On Fire. These bitches totally wake up in the middle of the night with a freight train running through the middle of their heads.

And Kris Allen’s head (sitting atop a plaid shirt, of course) is on the side of that freight train. That freight train is blaring his music for miles around and the freight is obviously his CDs.

So Kris Allen got the gig singing The Star-Spangled Banner before yesterday’s NFC Showdown between the Minnesota Vikings and the New Orleans Saints. I liked his performance. Some people did not care for it and thought it was pitchy or whatever. That’s fine. I don’t expect you to like everything a person does. That’s just freakish. Obviously, the overzealous Glamberts were going to rip on his performance, even if he somehow busted out a falsetto that brought Scott Joplin and Kate Smith back to life while eagles flew out of his ass.

But let me back up a minute. Kris Allen gives an obligatory interview to a local New Orleans radio station. He is super chatty and humorous. He also casually mentions he is going to go to Haiti to do some relief work.

Here we fucking go. Guess what? Kris Allen is a drunk media whore exploiting the tragedy in Haiti for his own PR needs.

I just don’t see how Kris’ not so sucessful missionary experiences could qualify him in emergancy rescue.

First off, you stupid twat, Kris Allen didn’t just go places to preach that Jesus stuff. He actually assisted in relief efforts after the tsunami in Thailand. I believe he’s also been to South Africa, where he worked with AIDS-infected orphans. Hey, his passport looks better than mine, I’ve just been to Europe a lot. I don’t agree with most missionary work, mind you, but that’s besides the point — how do we know the missionary work (or the actual trip itself) was unsuccessful? And emergency rescue? Maybe if you didn’t spend so much time diddling yourself to the KEEP UNTIL I DELETE episode of last week’s Oprah with special guest Adam Lambert on your DVR, you would know the emergency rescue phase, for the most part, is sort of over. Now its about digging out the bodies and rebuilding, caring for those who survived, all the grisly aftermath.

(For chrissake, are you telling me you’ve never known anyone who did anything with Habitat for Humanity? Last year, my niece went and built houses in central Mexico for her senior spring break.)

This guy had no business singing the National Anthem. A pure travesty. ITA with Chris Sligh. BTW, what is Kris doing in Haiti? Is he trying to promote his album? I mean, you hardly near anything about his humanitarian efforts. I guess he is too busy trying to promote himself.

If Adam Lambert announced he was going to Haiti, you idiots would start calling the Nobel Committee in Oslo in attempts to get him nominated for next year’s Nobel Peace Prize. If Adam Lambert adopted a little black baby from some African country to which you cannot pronounce the name, you would spend a few hours incessantly tweeting him and all of your little cronies how he’s the greatest humanitarian. Then you would peel yourself off your fat ass and get in your car. You would blare his For Your Entertainment CD  (one of the 69 you own) while you drove to the Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd in your nearest town/city and proceed to kidnap some tiny black infant or toddler, take him home, dress him up like Lambert and rename him Kunta Adam Kunte Fierce. Then you would tweet about it and take some Twitpics of this poor, sobbing kidnapped child developing an eye infection because you painted him up with black eyeliner in a desperate attempt to be named the BESTEST BIGGEST FIERCEST TRUEST GLAMBERT.

Sometimes the best thing to say in life is nothing at all. In hindsight Kris should have never opened his mouth about his volunteer trip to Haiti. He set himself up for a lot of flap without even realizing it, I am sure. Hopefully next time he does something like this he will have learned his lesson and not talked about it or waited to talk about it when he comes home. Altruism is always a double edged sword.

Who are you? And I think its flack, not flap. Doesn’t surprise me, though. You’re pretty much a complete idiot.

Lyndsey Parker, popular Yahoo! columnist (Reality Rocks) has long been a big Adam Lambert fan. Of course, all hell breaks loose if she ever says a nice thing about Kris Allen. Because when you’re a batshit crazy Idol fan, you can’t like BOTH of them. When Lyndsey posted a nice article about Allen’s upcoming trip to Haiti, did you really expect the lunatics to keep their fat traps shut?

Haven’t the people of Haiti suffered enough without having to be subjected to this cheap publicity stunt? Stay home Kris Allen, no one needs to hear your screeching and caterwauling at a time like this. I hope you donate EVERY PENNY to relief efforts instead of making a fast buck off the suffering of others. And to your friends going around posting positive comments for you, shame on you!”

Ah, yes. One of those concerned trolls I hear so much about.

It’s funny that Kris is going down to Haiti. I hope it is not to exploit the situation – and just get publicity for himself and to pump some life into his album. Because you hardly hear of Kris’ humanitarian efforts – even though he supposedly did missionary work prior to Idol. But I guess he has been too busy just promoting himself and making money. We all know the causes Adam is involved in, but there has been zilch re Kris.

Oh! Another one. This one has MD in her name, therefore, she must be an AUTHORITY. She is a CONCERNED TROLL WITH SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE NO ONE ELSE HAS BECAUSE SHE HAS MD IN HER ONLINE HANDLE. (Those are the best!)

I don’t question Kris’ intention to go to Haiti, but if he almost died in a missionary trip then IMO he should seriosly consider what value he can bring to the Haiti people – they def don’t need another patient. Even if it’s not a PR thing, in some way this trip could just be a charity consumption that is more to satisfy the individual’s need of sympathy than to *really* benifit the paople in the subject.

I’m not going to judge anyone on their charitable efforts, but I do recall you people also claiming how Adam Lambert was infinitely better because he set up that DonorsChoose.org thing and Kris Allen had attached himself to nothing. Adam Lambert basically stuck his name on a cause and got people to donate, of course, he did offer a special chat with the group who raised the most money. So you people emptied out your bank accounts. DonorsChoose.org did very well, I think, however, you only gave money because you thought you could get closer to your beloved savior.

Kris Allen didn’t really advertise his missionary/relief efforts while on Idol. Or how he got super sick during one such excursion, so sick, in fact, that it took him months to recover. Which makes him even more likable. Hell, Scott MacIntyre (aka The Blind Guy) didn’t bring up the face he had someone else’s kidney. Imagine if he had only made kidney shapes with his hands! He could have stuck around at least another week. Sob stories on Idol make me gag, and I always prefer the contestants who don’t pull that shit.

Kris Allen went on American Idol to perform music. Adam Lambert went on it to be famous. Sure, Kris Allen just got to sing at one of the biggest football games of the year. Adam Lambert got to do red carpet coverage of the SAG awards with E! To each his own. Both of them are trying to build careers. If Kris Allen wants to fly down to Haiti to help give food or clothing, or assist in building shelter, so be it. If Adam Lambert wants to go chit chat with Oprah, who cares. These guys are no longer competing against one another, therefore, you idiots should really get over it.

And if Kris Allen never went on Idol, or even made it as far as he did, don’t you think he might already be in Haiti helping out? It’s not like its something out of character for someone who has been involved in similar endeavors since he was a teenager.

Spewing out such hatred over some guy because he’s doing well just because you’re still bitter he beat your glittery god from planet fierce on a television show which proves itself to be less and less relevant with each passing season? What good do you think this does? Any? I really don’t understand how you people are so psychologically screwed. You should really be trying to get into some of those medical studies. Hey! It’s more money in which to buy Lambert CDs! But most of all, why do you act like such asshats when you should probably know by now that your lord & savior Adam Lambert would probably tell you to go to hell if you said the shit you write on message boards to his face.

Seriously, Glamberts, Glamtards, whatever the hell you are. Your behavior is disgusting. And trust me, you’re not winning any more fans for your lord & savior. You make it very difficult to separate the crazy from the actual Adam, even though we all know you guys are just the pathetic bunch who do nothing else with your time but obsess over the poor guy. Wow. You know something else? I think its your concerted efforts which keep making Kris Allen gain more fans, you know, those fans you talk about who exist outside of the Idol bubble. I don’t know if that’s true, necessarily, as most people just don’t pay attention to American Idol.

Haha, “Chris Allen” is a hot search topic on Google. Looks like his NA got people’s attention. Too bad they don’t know how to spell his name.

To be fair, most people with only a casual knowledge of American Idol might not know his name. A lot of them think that gay guy won. And unfortunately, they don’t know his name, either, let alone how to spell it.

That’s life. You should get out more.

Any Idol that needs voice coaching after being in the top 10
needs to be defended as much as possible

I find this to be a terribly ignorant statement,(apparently, as a Kristard, I know ignorance!!haha) So when someone attains a goal, they are perfect? They stop learning? Pro athletes (golfers, tennis players, runners, etc)…all have coaches! It doesn’t mean you are incompetent, it means you are are interested in improvement. I would be willing to bet that several of the idols ( possibly even Adam) have a vocal coach.

When did “jealous” become a proper noun? Anyway, why can’t you just love them both? I don’t see Kris as a dying singer. It just isn’t happening.

Hiya All! Thank you for the welcome! Even though Leigh Kat starts off her/his post with the utterly unnecessary ” Honey, your sparkle cow prints are showing” I promise you I am not a cow nor do I sparkle! LOL!

But most of you get me and what I am saying and I appreciate that. I am not knocking Kris. I have bought songs off his album and during his idol run and I was thrilled to see that he is going to Haiti (I am going myself hopefully this summer). I think his going there is utterly in character. And I do know nice Kris fans. We all started off in a forum for another idol then got sucked into season 8 and diverged after that. But I have lurked at some Kris fan sites and on MJs during Idol last season and I honestly do think that the only reason you don’t see the amoount of craziness from the Kris camp is a matter of percentages. 2 % of 100 vs 2% of 200 sort of thing. That 2% either way is still crazy. I just don’t like when people feel that a few crazy fans means they can disparage the artist in really awful ways. I don’t have a problem with anyone saying they don’t like someones style, sound, dress, crazy shades, what ever, but the amount of vitriole I see expressed toward Adam always seems extreme. And everyone wants to lump his fans together; assume that the 2% is the 100%. We all know that is not true. Just like Kris’s 2% or Cook’s 2% aren’t the majority of the people who are buying there music and going to their concerts.

But this is a cool site. I was worried about visiting here because I thought it might be like another anti Idol site. But its not! Ok! Back to real life for me! Later gang!

You can think less of me for knowing this if you want to, but the last time I remember there being an IGB, Season 7, I think Paula and Randy went somewhere close by California, Simon went elsewhere in the US, some of the stars like Brad Pitt went to New Orleans, and Elliott, Fantasia and Daughtry went to different places in Africa. Or maybe Elliott and Fantasia were a different season. But I think it was Season 7 when Elliott cried because somebody named her baby after him?

Adam sold less albums than Taylor Hicks.

According to Wikipedia: “The album debuted at the number two spot on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart, selling 298,000 copies in its first week”.

    Adam Lambert’s FYE #3, 198,000 copies first week…

    • Lauren permalink
      January 28, 2010 10:40 pm

How did Taylor sell those albums?! When someone like Taylor Hicks sells better than people like Adam Lambert and Kris Allen, you know there is an issue. Could it have something to do with the economy?

      • deez permalink
        January 28, 2010 11:32 pm

I’m actually surprised people buy music as much as they do. It’s just WAY too easy to find it for free. I would guess it decreases every year. As for Taylor Hicks, he was really popular right after the show…later not so much. It’s probably more telling to compare their sales at the end of the year.

Hmmm I guess that must be the reason. I still don’t think it’s right for someone like Taylor to have superior sales to people like Kradam. Don’t people have any taste in music?

I have a lot of friends asking me to burn them copies of Kris’s and Allison’s albums…to which I’m a terrible friend and tell them to shell out the 10 bucks…if we want them to make more albums, shouldn’t we pay for them? (and I’m not advicating buying 10 copies each, just 1 if you like the artist…)

Partly because I’m too damn ethical for my own good, partly because I’m paranoid, I just can’t steal music. Plus I know what sales mean to these artists…I just hope labels are looking at the bigger picture. Is there any way to track what’s illegally downloaded? Then they could see, “well, he IS popular! No one wants to pay for his music, BUT he’s popular…”

Someone asked if Season 8 of AI would ever be available on DVD. The response mentioned that it’s difficult to get the rights to the songs, bla bla bla, and said Adam Lambert was the runner up to Kris Brown, complete with a picture of Adam.

I always assumed they WERE married with kids. I believe in a post a while back there was a quote of what they considered to be their typical day. It was all housewife stuff plus stalking Adam via internet. This it what they said about themselves thinking it was a GOOD thing. It’s hard to be a housewife with no family to support you. I think I gotta rant; here it goes.

I don’t know. I mean this is getting really ridiculous. I bet 19E is behind all this ‘let’s get Adam’s ……. to ….. on …..’ shit. They realized that he has a crazy online following and decided to exploit that.

I really hope no one is buying into that crap. Can you imagine some people buying multiple copies of TFM, FYE, i-tunes album (cause they can’t wait until the next day), the physical copies of the album, FYE video, WWFM, WWFM video and after all that being asked to buy even more copies of that crappy WWFM because it is his “birthday” and ‘Who’ is outselling him in single sales. I hope NO ONE ever did that. That is certifiable crazy. If you know someone who did that, get them help.

Do other idol fans organize this kind of mass buying sprees for their idol?

And guess what? The production company would know who is buying their product. That is their job. I’ll make it simple: you can get a second mortgage and spend it all on your idol, you can sell your car and buy gazillion singles of your idol but your idol is not going to get richer soon. You are paying 19E, then the songwriters, then the MV’s then every other expense of the production, then the tour expenses, then the band and then maybe (just maybe) your idol will get some money. So good luck.

        January 28, 2010 5:49 pm

Yep. If you want to help your Idol out financially, you’re better off sending them a hundred bucks than spending a hundred bucks on cds. The first way, they get a hundred bucks. The second way, they get about ten bucks, and they get it wayyyy down the road, after all the accounting has been done and everybody else has their share first.

There are huge mistakes being made across the board as to who is doing what, and when. Bare with me…

19E is the company that produces the television show American Idol. They have nothing to do with the Idols post show. In fact, I’m pretty sure that legally they can’t have anything to do with them. 19E could give two shits how any Idol does post season as long as the viewers come back next year. They care about advertising revenue for their “Deathstar.” Cowell is very much 19E. He doesn’t care who does well post show. He does, however, love to be right.

19M is the music management wing of 19I, the umbrella company that owns all, that manages many of the Idols who get major label deals after the show ends. They have nothing to do with the show, and only show up once BMG decides they want to sign someone. 19M books talent gigs (like the red carpet thing), and helps shape the image and pr face of the Idol. They do not book music gigs…usually. Idols don’t have to sign with 19M, but somehow the ones who didn’t didn’t get the attention they thought they would. It seems to be a blessing and curse to go with them as a management company.

BMG is the record label with a deal with 19 who agrees to sign the winner, and then gets first shot at any other contestants in whom they might be interested. They can deal with anyone they want. They can ask Simons Cowell and Fuller who they think will sell, and sign accordingly, or tell them to fuck off and sign someone else. The only one who is guaranteed a deal is the winner, and BMG has many imprints they can sign them to depending on how they want to market them.

Once the Idol is signed to a BMG imprint label (This year it’s Jive (Kris and Allison) and RCA (Adam)), then the label goes about helping the Idol make a record, and then market that record. They handle the music gigs, and music related pr (Talk show appearances where they perform, AMAs, SNL, etc). They coordinate with 19M so that they get the best for their money, and both market the artist to his or her strengths.

The record label puts out money ahead of time hoping to make money as the album and merchandise sells. They book a tour, make t shirts, and handle promotions for the album that they shelled money out for.

The management company works for the Idol. They work on commission. They book someone to be a tv correspondent for ET, and they get a commission of that. They get the artist magazine interviews, and sponsorship deals. If they help the record label make a talk show booking they get a commission from that. From the label, not the talk show….well, the talk shows give kick backs, but that’s another story.

None of any of this has to do with 19E. The show ceases to be involved beyond the handshake deal they have with their parent company (19I) to allow the Idol to come perform their new hit song on the show.

Both of them will tour. Artists make more money touring than anything else. As in, the artist. The label gets a bigger cut of album sales, while the artist gets the bigger cut of the tour. Still, this is the real way the label makes back their money. Do not worry about whether or not your guy will tour. The only question is when and how.

Beyond that, it’s all about whether or not the label believe in the artist enough to let them make a second album.

It’s a pet peave of mine when I see people say 19E is doing something they have nothing to do with, or saying 19M is doing enough music bookings for Adam, or Jive needs to get Kris out there more.

While I did kinda single you out, I didn’t mean to put you on the spot, saskin. Sorry. Lots of people do, and will continue to, make these mistakes.

It’s actually good stuff to know. Especially for tards of certain Idols. Like, notice how almost all of Adam’s gigs lately have been pr gigs (19M) and not music or radio promotion gigs (RCA)? The casino gig is RCA, and most of the label promotions are behind the scenes and under the table, but it says something. Clearly 19M believes in Adam. I can’t say if that says something negative about RCA at this point, but it is interesting.

Anyway, the labels actually don’t want people buying multiple copies. Well, to a certain degree they don’t care because they get the money, but it screws up their sales predictions, and their ability to see what’s being effective in terms of marketing. It’s annoying to them, as far as I can tell. I’ve never seen a label or management company actively encourage that behavior. I have seen them throw their hands in the air because there’s just nothing they can do about it.

I think the behind the scenes video was a coincidence. Adam’s about to have another big web promotion come up (his AOL Sessions), and they want people to have him on their mind, and on their Google search. The label isn’t going to pay much attention to the Sparkle Herd unless they are getting in the way. They want sales and publicity outside the bubble.

No problem. I don’t know the first thing about music business or AI. But this really got on my nerves. If you have the album why would you go and buy another copy of a song on the album just because it is his birthday? How does that make any sense?

Can you explain why the label wouldn’t want to sell multiple copies to the same customers? Especially if they are not planning to produce the music of that artist anymore?

I don’t get it, either. It’s not like say, if you like a pair of sneakers and you buy them in five colors, either. You don’t need more than one copy such things.

saskin, they don’t. Well…like I said, they don’t care, but they do. They make money regardless, and they’re a company, so they like making money. Also, the recording industry is pretty greedy.

The truth is, most entertainers and their companies have no idea what their fans are doing. That’s usually a good thing. The pr companies and managers should keep track, because it’s their job to keep them, but the record labels have nothing to do with fandom, and don’t care.

The only time they care is when something the fans do directly effects them. In this case, Adam’s fans are getting in the way of their promotional activity with radio stations, and getting in the way of their ability to gauge which promotions are working and which aren’t. So they care, but only so much as it effects them.

              Am I making sense?

Really, it’s all business to them, and people who don’t know their place, or act appropriate to their place, are a bad thing.

Nice try thinking you get whip Kris fans (wtf is a Kritter anyways?) into a frenzy over low cd sales. I, for one, am not worried about sales at all. I am actually glad he is being treated and looked at as a new artist who has to build a fan base. He is letting his music speak for itself, and LLWD is doing tremendously by him. He is gaining fans every day who are outside the AI bubble. I honestly think Kris could care less about exploding onto the pop scene. He wants to write and perform music that is respected and has longevity. He is well on his way to doing that.

On the other hand, Adam has had the benefit of hype (overhype IMO) and publicity stunts (AMA shitfest….and when I say that, honestly the only thing I found offensive about it was his horrid singing) to boost his cd sales. Couple this with the concerted effort of his bsc fans to inflate sales by buying multiple copies, and yes, Adams sales are where I’d expect them to be. Big deal. Revel in that all you want. I honestly get second hand embarassment when I see how quickly Adam’s songs/videos get to the top of any chart. It is all rather calculated and sordid. I much prefer a slower, legitimate rise with lots of new fans. So take your fake pity for Kris and shove it up your ass.

Kris fans could be Krispie Kritters! (Comes in all shapes and sizes.)

It’s really quite hilarious to me that part of the internet bonding and solidifying of the bond comes with these goofy names. I mean, seriously. Who in their right mind would call themselves a Lambskank? (No offense meant to anybody who really likes that name. I just find it… Icky. Icky beyond belief.)

Sure, people who followed the Grateful Dead from city to city in their tie-dye shirts started calling themselves deadheads, and that made sense at the time. Because they were wearing tie-dye and following the Dead from city to city. It wasn’t just a fandom, it was a lifestyle.

Then we moved to Parrotheads (for Jimmy Buffett) and Dittoheads (for Rush Limbaugh), and lord knows all the soap opera people love making up mash names for their couples and forming groups around those names or for their faves. Then they can trot out their LIASON and JASAM shirts to Super Soap Weekend to try to get the people in charge to write for their faves, or writing a flood of letters to the people in charge screaming that they never, ever want to see “Jiz.” (And example of creating a derogatory nickname and feeling that, in doing so, you are somehow affecting policy or swaying opinions.)

I do get that people get off on creating an identity and a feeling of belonging from this kind of labeling or rooting or hating. But it still seems weird to me that there are grandmas out there proclaiming to the world that they are proud Claymates or Archies or Cookies or Glamberts or… Do people like Lady Gaga or Taylor Swift or John Mayer have Gaggles or Swiftettes or Wieners running around out there? If you don’t have your own “army” or “nation” are you somehow disadvantaged in the world of pop music?

Skylar: No one downloads a song nearly 700K times if no one likes it. SOMEONE likes what Kris is offering.

But for now, LLWD is the only song Kris has out there, so people are buying that until they can figure out if his album is worthwhile. The same thing happened with Lady Gaga. I think The Fame only sold 24K in its first week. But she kept plugging and promoting and releasing singles. Now the album is closing in on 2.5 million copies sold. Consistency and persistence wins the race. “Alright With Me” is starting to pick up downloads from being used in Kris’ Ford commercial. IMO, things are starting to gel.

If you had said Kris needs to better connect the dots between LLWD = his having an album out, I would have appreciated your argument more. Because while I like Kris, I would love to see more of a tie-in with that. But instead, you came in here with a condescending attitude, yet somehow expect the red carpet treatment. GMAFB.

The one positive I can say regarding Adam’s attempts to put out a hit song is that he had three songs out (TfM, FYE, and WWFM) at the same time. It gave people a better perspective of what he has to offer. But considering that the FYE album hasn’t burned up the charts, maybe it didn’t help so much at all.

If Kris’s album sales are disappointing when no hype surrounded him, then I can only imagine the heartbreak you feel regarding Adam’s slow rise when everyone and their grandma was kissing his behind. Shouldn’t he have gone double-platnium by now and giving Susan Boyle a run for her money?

Every singer takes a different path success. Let Adam and Kris do their own thing. If you didn’t have your right monster clab claw wedged between your four eyes, you might enjoy yourself around here. We don’t bite. . .too hard.

I don’t know, those Glamberts download things a hell of a lot of times. And who knows if they actually like them? But “ADAM NEEDS US” so they follow each other to itunes and download another 5 or 6 copies of the song, and go to Walmart and buy another 10 copies of the CD to put under their pillows so they will dream about him.

Ok Claire than please explain to witless me, why LLWD is selling well but the Kris Allen CD is not. I would truly like your explanation of that one.

    • January 28, 2010 1:42 pm

So you know for SURE that none of those people like Adam? You tweeted them all and asked? I bet if I had the energy (which I do not) I could find lots of pro-Kris tweets… lots of anti-Adam tweets… it’s pretty flimsy evidence about… anything.

“why LLWD is selling well but the Kris Allen CD is not.”

I’m not Claire but it is NOT unusual for people to wait until they hear a 2nd or 3rd single before buying a CD. I’m one of those people, I hate buying a CD and not liking anything but one song, so usually I wait to hear a 2nd or 3rd song I like. If he can come up with another hit single (yes, I said hit single – it is), I’m betting those album sales will go up. Saying that it is obvious that people don’t like his voice because they only buy his single makes NO sense. If they didn’t like his voice, they wouldn’t buy his single either.

I’m not Claire, but I’ll give it a stab:

Because sane people like hearing more than one song before committing to buying an album, as opposed to buying in bulk because they’re spiritually obsessed with a particular performer?

How the fuck would I know? If I had to guess, I’d say people (not necessarily those obsessed with Idol) heard the single on the radio, liked it, but didn’t bother buying the album because they’re only familiar with the one track.

All I said was I can’t imagine anyone who truly doesn’t like “NAL’s” voice would even bother buying the single.

Because the majority of younger fans in their teens, 20’s, and I’ll throw in early 30’s…you know, the audience a burgeoning pop star REALLY wants, marketing and sales-wise…prefer downloading singles to purchasing albums. Any demographic study on music sales will tell you that.

The idea that only Kris suffers from people only buying the singles and not the whole album boggles my mind. It’s not like it doesn’t happen to say just about every singer. That’s what I was saying…Jordin Sparks and Rihanna are other examples of artists making it on the basis of single sales. Ever since I got my iTunes account that’s how I approach it. Hell I didn’t buy ADAM’S whole album, but I did buy some tracks I like.

Hell I am in my mid 20’s and 95% of my ipod is singles. I rarely ever buy an entire album. Sorry maybe I am cheap or whatever but I am not buying an album just to spike the artist’s sales.

I rarely buy full albums anymore. I either buy them because once I buy two or more singles I feel like I might as well get the whole album b/c obviously I like the music or it’s an established artist who I’ve listened to for a long time and it becomes an automatic must buy like say Franz Ferdinand.

Music downloads have killed the concept album. This has been a big complaint of many music journalists for some time. Artists aren’t even making albums the way they once were.

TI, that stopped long before iTunes. In this case, I think iTunes was answering a marketing issue instead of creating one.

Concept albums are alive and well, they’ll just probably never top the Billboard charts again.

“Live Like We’re Dying” is selling well because it’s the currently promoted single. It happens to be well-played among most radio stations around the country and Kris has been playing the song in the various gigs he has been doing to promote his album. As an avid music buyer, I tend to buy albums by default. But my brother is the complete opposite. If he hears a song he likes, he buys the song only. No need to buy an entire album if you only hear one song. Besides, not everyone can shell out the cash to buy albums these days. If they hear more than one song from the album and they like it, they buy the whole album. It’s really quite simple.

Tell me, Skylar. Why, in your efforts to insist to us that you really don’t spend that much time thinking about Kris, do you wonder about these things like why his album isn’t selling? Does that keep you up at night? Kris is doing fine. His single is doing excellently on radio; it sold the most units last week out of any Idol download. He just sang the Star-Spangled Banner at one of the biggest football games in the country. And he’s off to promote himself worldwide, starting with the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore.

So thanks, Skylar, but I think Kris Allen will be fine without your pretend disinterest in him.

poporange really does have some sort of learning disability and some sort of mental illness. I agree that she’s abusing it to be passive aggressive and childish, but she really isn’t all there.

Are you sure? You don’t think all that was an act? It’s just weird that her spelling skills seemed to come and go at will. And the “Help me, MJ! I’ve never felt so much hate!” Because we misspelled her name? Talk about some thin skin. IDK…it came across as playing a part, to me anyway.

I got confirmation. She is definitely not faking.

Like I said, she’s abusing it, and shouldn’t be allowed to get away with it. One of the big mistakes people make with people with learning disorders and those kinds of illnesses is that they let them get away with bad behavior thinking they don’t know better. They can learn, you just have to be willing to teach them.

poporange needs tough love, but not from people who are going to gang up on her like that.

I haven’t seen her back, so maybe MJ told her to cut it out as well? We got the public permaban threat, but we can still post over there. She has just disappeared. I still don’t see that misspelling her name in response to her own misspellings could be construed as “hate”…but whatev, if she has issues then she sees it differently. She will get a wide berth from me if she comes back. Hope she gets the help she needs.

I don’t vote in jack shit. I don’t give a shit about Adam, and I don’t worry about Cookie is being overshadowed. Know why? Because I’m a sane grownup who realizes that it is just not that important. I’m a Cook fan because I like Cook. I’m not jealous of anyone else, I don’t spam polls, I don’t CARE.

“Adam has sold around 440k albums of For Your Entertainment, I’m too lazy to look for the exact figure. Maybe RCA has shipped 700K albums? I’m not entirely sure what that number represents, to be honest. Maybe if you include Take One, the season 8 compilation album and Adam’s S8 Greatest Hits or whatever that was called?”

Yes…Kris fans discussing sales terminology on a KA fansite in a thread entitled “the Fierceness of Adam Lambert” is EXACTLY the same thing as Glamberts invading every blog or article on the web to bash Kris for wanting to go to Haiti and/or coming up with conspiracy theories about a chicken restaurant.

You know those numbers get taken back eventually, right? All those CDs you gift that get returned, and the CDs that don’t sell get removed from the total.

Besides, if Adam really was a RAWK GOD he’d be selling faster than David Cook, right?

Skylar: Adam’s record hasn’t gone gold, and he IS short a few CDs. Until he has been certified gold, you can’t just go around babbling about it. You’d only look like a fool when someone goes on the internet to find out whether this is true and it turns out you’re getting a little ahead of yourself. Adam will hit gold eventually. I see no reason why the Glamberts are so eager to boast about something that will eventually come. Why not just wait until it is officially announced, AND THEN do your gloating? Doesn’t that make more sense? Oh, right. In the world of Glamberts, being hyperbolic and getting ahead of yourselves is completely natural. Why else were y’all so bitter when he lost on American Idol?

I also don’t see how stating the facts is a jab at Adam from “the sorriest bunch” of Kris fans. The better question is: why do you troll Kris Allen fan sites? That’s weird. Shouldn’t you be spending more of your time on Adam Lambert fan sites? Dude, you should get out more.

What Haiti needs most right now is not a minor pop singer running among the ruins.

He was not going to be running among the ruins. He was going to be sitting on a pile of rubble, performing an acoustic version of “Live Like We’re Dying” to raise the spirits of the suffering Haitians. The performance was to have been filmed and would have replaced the original LLWD video. Kris is determined that the song gets to #1, dammit, and he’ll do anything to further that goal.

Clearly highhopes was being sarcastic. But then! THEN!

“Kris Allen went on American Idol to perform music. Adam Lambert went on it to be famous. ”

I find this statement really funny (and Kris fans love to repeat this). They both went to a Reality TV show. People go on TV because they wanna be famous. If Kris didn’t want to become famous, just to perform music, he would stay in Arkansas. They both wanted to be famous. And there is nothing wrong with wanting to be famous, especially if you work with entertainment. That doesn’t make you a famewhore. If you are a singer and want to be successful, becoming famous is part of the package. There’s nothing wrog with that.

As for Kris going to Haiti, I think is really brave of his part and he doesn’t deserve to be criticized for it. On the other hand, I think people have a right to their opinions, and don’t deserve to be called “crazy” if they think he’s doing it for PR. It’s just their opinion. Adam is called a famewhore all the time by Kris fans, and I don’t call them crazy kristards for thinking that. It’s just their opinion, it doen’t make it true.

      TC,

You’re an Adam fan and you think people HERE are vicious? REALLY? :eyeroll:

You’re also wrong about performers and artists and trying to be famous. Some want to be able to get into a position where their work is known and they can live off it because they get better paying gigs and offers. That is much different than wanting to be “famous”, which IS Adam’s clear goal.

Do you really believe that Kris went on AI to become famous? Hell, it wasn’t even his idea to tryout out…it was his brother’s. He spent several years trying to earn a living as a musician/singer in Little Rock and he wasn’t able to do so. (Remember, he was headed back to finish his degree and get a real job so he could support his family. AI was a last ditch effort to make something out of his music.) He was and is totally in this for his music. He has said repeatedly that the best part of winning Idol is getting to make a record and make a living doing something he loves. Do you see him trying to use his fame to walk every red carpet or hobnob with celebrities? I don’t. I saw him work his ass off in December playing every radio show he could….sometimes playing to a handful of people. And, it looked like he loved every minute of it. You know why? Because it was all about the MUSIC. Yeah, you’re right….what a fame whore.

Also, yeah, if your opinion is that Kris is using Haiti for PR reasons, you DO deserve to be called crazy. Stop being butthurt over the “viciousness” of this topic. For a lot of fed up Kris fans, this is the only haven we have to vent about the stupidity of Adam’s legions of sparkle cows.

Kris was not even my fav, but he is what Idol was supposed to be about, not a vehicle for someone who was already working in the profession.

Adam admits he was working as a professional 8 days a week, with costumes, sets, props, musical scores and professional musicians. Adam already had ties to the record business and worked with a former member of the Pussy Cat Dolls, and was a good friend of his. I believe Adam was a plant from the get.

Kris says at the beginning he only went to the auditions for the ride to accompany his brother who wanted to try out. I have never seen him act once like a “famewhore”.

Meanwhile let me remind the Glamberts one of Adam’s songs that he wrote and sang clearly show he is a straight up FAMEWHORE and wanted fame from the beginning, even before he appeared on the show.

[b]POP GOES THE CAMERA a song about Adam’s desires to be a FAME WHORE.

        Pop Goes The Camera Lyrics

        [1 verse]
I got drive so I’ll survive
        in Hollywood where I will
        thrive.

        I’ll arrive,
I’ll take a drive into the pool, into the hive.

        I won’t break
        I’m what it takes,
I’ll make my mark like an earthquake.

        Raise the stakes
I’m wide awake be in your sight, ’til your head aches.

        [Chorus]
        Fascination,
        Saturation
        stars are just like us.

        Validation,
        Exploitation
        all cause a big fuss.

        POP POP!
        Goes the camera.
        Fifteen minutes of fame.

        POP POP!
        Goes the camera.
        Fifteen minutes right now.

        POP POP POP POP POP!
Look at me, Look at me
        in a magazine.

        POP POP!
        Goes the camera.
        Fifteen minutes of fame.

        [2 verse]

        Cross promotion
        Cross the ocean
I’ll make bank off of their devotion.

        Drink the potions
        Cause commotions
        Got them feeling strong emotions.

        I’ll inspire,
        They’ll admire,
Won’t turn on me ’cause i got fire.

        Fame expires,
I’ll retire but I’ll hold on down to the wire.

        [Repeat chorus]

        [Instrumental]

        I’ve been told each flash
        steals your soul.

        Every celebrity knows fame
        takes it’s toll.

Even in his OWN LYRICS to his song Pop Goes the Camera he says he is going USE Sparkle Cows, and their “devotion”, he wants the fame, the magazines, and Sparkle Cows are idiots, AND in Adam’s own words he wanted to be a FAME WHORE.[/b]

…so for Adam it was NEVER about the music.

It was about being famous, and the proof is from his own song that he wrote/performed right before he appeared on Idol.

To quote Adam”look at me, look at me”

You Cow WHERE PLAYED. ..for his own desires for fame.

Yeah, at one point Adam was pretty honest about using Idol to finally make it to the ‘big time.’ And I’m okay with that. Everyone that tries out for the show does so with the intent of advancing their career. Adam was just on a bigger playing field than the rest. But still, it does speak of his thirst for fame by any means. I’m cool with that, but let’s not pretend that it isn’t part of Adam’s MO. The man is a moth to the light, vying for our attention. Just be honest about is all I ask.

Oh please. Let’s not bring song lyrics into this. Don’t validate the crazy tinhatters who believe Kris’s album is a cry for Adam to save him from his crumbling relationship with his wife. I have no idea what their relationships are like, any of them, and I don’t care. Songs are songs. Some of them tell true stories. Some of them are just stories.

Is it only vicious to you because it’s not an Adam lovefest? There are numerous amounts of people that don’t like Adam Lambert and see him becoming the next Paris Hilton because he’ll do anything and show up anywhere just to get his face seen. That doesn’t mean he’s popular. That means his PR team is trying to keep him relevant since he screwed himself over big time on the AMA’s, then crying homophobia afterwards.

He talks out both sides of his mouth. One minute he doesn’t want it all to be about “gay” and then the next breath he starts in on people being homophobic. If he didn’t make it all about being gay, then maybe he wouldn’t be looked upon that way. But being gay is what Adam thrives on because then he can continue to cry “double-standard” crap.

Adam Lambert is his own worst enemy and his fans are lunatics. One minute he encourages them and then the next he chastises them for being supportive. Which way does he want it? I guess it depends on what suits HIM at the time. He also has been very derogatory towards anyone that is more of a celebrity than he will ever hope to be. He can’t take any criticism without whining like a 13-year old girl. Really, the guy should look in the mirror and see what’s staring back at him. He’ll have a perfect view of a poser and hypocrite.

I don’t understand, TC. In order to be called a fame whore, don’t you need to live up to certain criteria? For instance, the Kardashians are fame whores. They really are famous for being famous. They are on every Red Carpet, they do scandalous things in front of the cameras, are always on the cover of magazines, and yet always for the reasons. What has Adam done to deserve being called a fame whore? Think hard. Think REALLY hard.

It’s not like this label of “fame whore” came out of nowhere, you know. On the other hand, what has Kris done to deserve being called a fame whore for going to Haiti? IN FACT, there are several things that would easily put these claims to rest. Not only has he already been doing volunteer work and been involved in humanitarian efforts BEFORE Idol (this means SANS the cameras, press, exposure, etc), but his personality is also such that he doesn’t really care about being seen. Why do you think he ditched a TV Guide (or was it Us Weekly?) red carpet appearance in favor of going to a Mat Kearney concert? Why do you think he opted to go to a John Mayer concert as opposed to having a big album release party filled with press and cameras on Nov 17? That is not opinion, that is fact.

Sure, how people interpret something is up to them, but when they do so without acknowledging information that is clearly presented to them, they are not only expressing an opinion, but they are also choosing to be misinformed just for the sake of expressing that opinion. I disagree with that.

I agree with you on the Idol thing. Kris went on Idol to get exposure and fame, as does everyone who goes on Idol. That’s the POINT of Idol and there’s no shame in it whatsoever, as you said. Musicians need exposure and a certain level of fame to get people to listen to their music.

However, I think that while people have the right to say that Kris is doing the Haiti thing for publicity– people accusing celebrities of doing charitable acts for exposure alone is hardly a new phenomenon– some have taken it too far. I said before (on MJs, I think) that this whole debate is just silly, especially the false either/or choice being presented: Kris is either a desperate famewhore who doesn’t actually care about Haiti, or he is an angel of charity who is completely unaware that Haiti is good publicity. I’ve seen this same false dichotomy applied to Adam as well: he’s doing the PSA either ALL for attention or ALL for unalloyed, pure charity. Whereas in reality it’s most likely a combination of both, as with most celebrities who do charity (and most things in life involving people, we’re complicated animals!). I’m inclined to think that for Kris, the genuine charity part significantly outweighs the PR part, though, but that’s my opinion.

On the viciousness thing: I don’t think this place is vicious, but I can see why you’d feel that way (especially after some of the responses to your comment, lol). Just remember it’s the internet and a little of bit of snark or even anger can’t really hurt you.

Adam Lambert is a POSER. He attached his name to a charity because it would make him look good in the public eye. He hasn’t done crap for that charity since that time. Anyone can “attach” their name to anything, but actually doing something for it is another thing. Adam is a fameHO to the max. All he wants to do is keep his name out there and doesn’t care what he has to do in order to do that.

After the AMA mess, the guy has a lot of work to do in order to be taken seriously. I don’t think it will ever happen because he is so UNoriginal, it’s almost funny. His fans claim that Kris (and others) are boring. Well I’d rather be considered boring than to be considered a joke. When Adam starts walking the walk and talking the talk, we’ll see what happens. But since that day will most likely never come, I don’t think we’ll have to worry about it.

American Idol’s POSER 2009 is exactly what he’ll be remembered for. Oh, and of course his glitter and make-up. Again…. not original.

      Gonna disagree there.

And sorry, Lauren, I hadn’t seen this post.

Adam picked Donor’s Choose as an effort to try and get his fans to give to charity instead of him. It worked on a grand scale. He picked the charity – an awesome one, btw – and the whole thing was his idea. It wasn’t really publicized outside the core AI fanbase, so not sure how he was famewhoring there.

You can still think Adam is a POSEUR musically, and understand that everything he does isn’t for the attention. He’s shallow, not sociopathic.

I don’t think we should automatically assume that the Adam hate is coming from those who are necessarily fans of Kris. There may be some of his fans who have commented here but from what I can tell, most the Adam hate being spewed is coming from people who just dislike Adam and are using this blog topic as an outlet to vent about him. I’m not saying that I agree with it or that it is right but I think that may be what is getting confused as *fanwarring*.

MOST Kris fans are too lazy to even follow Kris’s career so I doubt they care about what Adam is or isn’t doing.

          • January 28, 2010 4:26 pm

How else can you explain why he never did make the album with Jamie except for the fact that

Foxx praised both Kris AND Adam the next day on Seacrest’s radio show and said they were the standouts of the group, but of course he didn’t mean any of it (except what he said about Adam).

I’ll also go there to say Kris was being irresponsible and hadn’t learned much from his previous ’similar’ experiences if he really considered a trip to Haiti in a week. I get sick of VFTW as well. Sometimes they just pile on Adam just because. I think that they do a good job of exposing the Glamberts for their cray-cray, but they diss Adam all the time for no good reason.

IA on VFTW. It’s funny sometimes, but to laud it as a “voice of reason” while saying that MJ is biased just shows me that you are viewing things through an extremely selective lens. Because seriously, in what world is MJ more biased or less reasonable than VFTW? VFTW is entertaining for what it is, which isn’t an objective news source.

Actually they have already started. Some are going with the “I told you so” approach by saying that they were right all along for saying he shouldn’t go to Haiti. Others are pretending they were warning him against going to Haiti for security reasons instead of what they were REALLY saying a few days ago (that he did it for PR, he doesn’t have the expertise, etc). Others are saying he was being “irresponsible” that he wanted to go Haiti this week anyway.

      Oh, what fun!

BeckyMD is bringing up this point now: Why did Kris not do the telethon AND go to Haiti. They aren’t at the same time, you know…so obviously he could’ve done BOTH, they were a whole week apart. Now, the trip isn’t til March, so he missed out on an opportunity to help. *sigh*

I guess she knows all of what goes on behind the scenes, and what his schedule is like. (Because, of course, between photo ops, all he does is experiment with Rogaine and organize his “plaid closet”.

She (or perhaps another interchangeable Glambert) expressed the opinion that they appreciated it SO much more when celebs did charity w/o cameras or fanfare. (this was so stupid, I just….aaaaggghh!) If it’s done secretly behind the scenes, then she wouldn’t know about it, would she????? How the frak would she know that Kris (or anybody else) HASN’T been doing exactly that? What a NINCOWPOOP.

Not to mention the fact that “telethon” includes the “tele” part, which means CAMERAS. So if he’d done the telethon, they would’ve accused him of fame-ho-ism, but if he didn’t, then he doesn’t care enough. The head, it does spin with the hypocrisy.

I have a feeling that the answer is that he knows people in disaster relief, but doesn’t know people in the telethon biz, so he could make a call and get himself attached to the former, but not the latter. Or the former may be IGB, which means the connection was made for him.

There’s nothing wrong with publicizing good deeds, it just depends on how its done.(like you pointed out in previous post, TI) Where is the emphasis placed? A star can travel to Haiti (for example) and have the cameras follow as he/she narrates and points things out, relates needs, and pretty much shows others what’s happening and what needs to happen in the future. OR a star could put himself in front of the cameras…look at me holding babies, look at me making my best “concerned expression” (I this, I that)….it’s not hard to tell the difference.

Adam may have “famewhorish tendencies” when it comes to furthering his career (but honestly, who cares…it kinda works for him), but as far as the Donors Choose thing, I didn’t get that vibe at all. He seemed quite sincere in his desire to help. I tend to believe that there is a kindhearted person under all the glam. I know a lot of people disagree. I’m just going by what his fellow contestants said about him, I think they got to know him pretty well.

And honestly, ( LISTEN UP, GLAMBERTS) the negative attitude towards Adam is being generated in large part by the BSC fans. Homophobes and haters, etc…count for a very small percentage of the recent negativity, I think.

perhaps kris wouldn’t get slagged on for his desire to help in Haiti IF Kris’ fans (and general Adam haters) didn’t try turning kris’ good works against Adam by saying it proves what a shitbag Adam is because he can’t be bothered to actually GO to Haiti, instead “famewhoring” by doing the PSA for ET instead.

Huh? I must have missed all that misdirection when we were all praising Adam for his work for Donor’s Choose.

So, all the Glambert hate stems from a pre-emptive strike from Kris fans? Kris fans actually called Adam a shitbag for not going to Haiti and Glamberts are now defending his honor? That’s interesting b/c these Glambert comments started appearing out of nowhere very soon after Kris made the announcement…I saw no Kristards slamming him. I like Kris, think he has a lot of musicality but little originality. And seriously, not the best voice in the world. But he is a nice guy with some good songs and I think he can do well. I found this article really hilarious because I laugh at the same OTT fans that you are making fun of. It is wild seeing these 50 and 60 year old women stalking Adam and his band at concerts and appearances. That being said, what annoys me is that you knock Adam in these articles. Its like you refuse to acknowledge where he DOES shine just to stick it to the cray cray fans. And if you haven’t noticed, the Kris fans are every bit as bad. Its only since they are smaller fan base that they seem less annoying. I am only saying call a spade a spade and spread the ridicule and the kudos where they are deserved! Honey, your sparkle cow print is showing.

“kris fans are every bit as bad” – this is pure fallacy, don’t fool yourself. While some Kris fans like to “squee” and they enjoy a good laugh or two at Adam’s expense (myself included on the latter),
there is NOTHING that can even remotely compare to the insanity of these Adam Lambert fans.

Also, I think you failed to understand the real point of the post. Where did TI bash Adam? SHE DIDN’T! I just think you said that to deliberatly stray from the point. The attempt to sound even handed and rational was rather transparent.

Also, I am 100% sick of this argument that Kris’s fanbase is “small” and that’s why you don’t see the level of craziness. The Adam fanbase is really NOT this mammoth that people purport. Sure, he’s sold tons of records but, is Adam Lambert “the rawk god” a household name across the globe? I think not. And no, I am not trying to argue that Kris is some huge superstar either.
That being said, all the batshit crazies represent a select group within the Adam fanbase that have made it their mission in life to bash Kris for every single thing. My point? it’s only some Adam fans that act like this; therefore, size of a fanbase has zero to do with the incidents of nutbaggery. These fans are just totally off base- period!

The point of this particular blog post is to shine light on the downright disgusting behaviour of the Adam Lambert fanbase in relation to recent developments with Kris. There is no denying how wrong they are. If it says fucked up shit about Kris Allen and trolls and makes it life’s aim to bash Kris Allen, it’s probably a bat shit crazy Glambert.

JaeJae,TI is doing EXACTLY what you suggest – calling a “spade a spade”

There are a couple of points I disagree with JaeJae on. I don’ t think TI bashes Adam, but some of the posters do. (perhaps that is what she meant… sometimes when you read so much, it does run together) I’ve almost bashed him a couple of times myself until I remember…”Do you really mean this towards Adam, or the glittery herd?” Then I change my tune, lol!

I also don’t agree (that as a whole) Kristards are just as bad. There are some individuals who are just as horrible…but by and large, it’s not even close…that still doesn’t excuse anyone being an idiot, though…and there she has a point.

I disagree that Kris lacks originality (he writes music, lyrics, and arranges…that’s pretty creative) …if you are referring to vocal creativity, then I see your point. The best vocalists aren’t always the best “singers”, though (JMO) if that makes sense. BUT those are her opinions and they valid, and were expressed reasonably! She also points and laughs at the SparkleCows….I therefore decree that she is a SANE Adam fan!!! Welcome JaeJae!

I also agree about Kris doesn’t have THE BEST VOICE EVER!!!. As far as I can remember someone already said from the start that “there’s probably someone better than him”. (But for the life of me I can’t remember who said that. Could someone enlighten me?)

I also agree that he does have a smaller fanbase. What with the lowest album sales of any winners and far from being *gold*. (Hey, he probably doesn’t really have fans. It’s all AT&T employees and Chica-fil-a crews dedication to vote why he won idol. I bet they’re sick of hearing 50 downloaded LLWD in their ipod.Oh, don’t start with me with those Arkansans.)

But I disagree with you about the main purpose of this post is to belittle or spew hate on Adam. It’s about calling out those fans that criticize someone, whose doing a good deed, just because he beat their “ROCKGAWD” in a reality show. (You really should read TI’s post again. It’s good. JS)

Starr- “Do you really think I’m a glambert?” *crying myself in the corner*

I guess no one really get what I’m trying to say in my last post.*sigh* I’ll clarify, okay?! I highlight those things because those are always the SAME QUOTE I keep reading about Kris from Glamberts who subtly attack him. And after months of reading those, I just roll my eyes to ignore it or find some humor in it (that’s why I agree to jaejae’s post).

here are the usual (my REAL thoughts in parenthesis):

“Kris has a nice voice. I just find it ordinary and actually I can see a lot like him in bars who is better than him.” – (Yep, I know it’s Kris himself acknowledge that he’s not the BEST singer in the world. (Who is?) I admire him for his self-awareness and maybe some find it ordinary, I hear sincerity in every song he performs.)

“He doesn’t have a huge fanbase. His album is not selling well. No one remember him. His songs will be a flop.” – (You know what? I agree but it doesn’t mean it will not expand as he puts out his songs to the public. I actually think it is better if he doesn’t have a large following who expects HUGE EXPECTATION from him as he just starts to grow as an artist. I just enjoy the ride so far.)

“Kris fans are as bad as Glamberts. They actually spams every Adam thread to belittle his accomplishments.” – ( Sure, there’s always a troll in every thread/post of ALL idols. But, as TI said, Glamberts reach the lowest this time by attacking Kris as a person and questioning his intention to help. Is it to much to ask to just keep quiet if they don’t have anything good to say at all?)

I’m still horrified you call me a Glambert.*shiver* Oh, well, maybe I can pay a visits where they are looming if I have some energy. 😉

Kris is actually the real deal when it comes to originality. I think people forget how many compromises that musicians have to make with the major music industry and conform. The fact that Kris can adapt to what the producers wanted and to what is current on the radio AND still somehow find a way to be just be Kris being Kris is remarkable.

My bias is also that it is hard to have musicality without being original, because I believe that they go together. Kris has depth of musicality, soul, character, and passion. I am jealous of Kris’s natural musicality, it is just so organic and pure. Kris has the kind of musicality that cannot be learned, he just has it.

Kris is also a diamond in the rough, and while some people still like to notice only the rough, I see the diamond part of Kris coming through more and more. However, the point of the analogy about being a diamond in the rough is that a diamond in the rough was a diamond to begin with. I think Kris was always great, but keeps getting better and better too.

I am pretty sure I qualify as Kris tard, but I don’t do 1% of the craziness as the sparkle cows, I can’t even comprehend how they come up with such gaps of logic. I think most Adam haters are not Kris fans, or at least I prefer not to claim them as such. As for voting, I vote only like a few times for an entire week. I prefer to think I am laid-back instead of lazy though.

However, JaeJae I have to say I really like you because while we definately disagree about Kris, I just had a musically based conversation with a Adam fan. Yeah! Whoo Hoo!

I think the people who are complaining about Kristards being as bad as the sparkle cows are referring to those who post on articles about Adam complaining about him being gay, and then go on to exalt Kris. In my opinion, those aren’t Krisberts. Heck, they probably never even bought his CD. They’re probably just homophobes who delight on rubbing it in the Glamberts’ faces that “the gay guy” lost out to someone like Kris. I doubt that they are as invested in Kris as they are with attacking people because of their sexual orientation.

A real Krisbert would know that Kris is 100% okay with Adam being gay, and the rest of America doesn’t care what gay people do with their time, and therefore bashing Adam for being gay not only would annoy Kris, but it would also mean being socially backwards.

So yeah. The craziest Krisbert might be overly defensive when Kris is being criticized. They might have been the ones who attacked Chris Sligh on Twitter for saying bad things about Kris’s rendition of the Star-Spangled Banner. They might be the ones who stay up late and vote on the VH1 Countdown or the People’s Choice Awards. They might be the ones who bought multiple copies of the album. But I highly doubt there is one who has “KRIS ALLEN” tattooed on her shoulder. If there is one, I’d like to meet that Krisbert, shake their hand and proceed to take pictures of said tattoo for the Top Idol community to see.

JaeJae: When Adam set up the DonorsChoose.org charity fundraiser thing, did Kris fans criticize him for this? Did they accuse him of attaching his name to a charity as a publicity stunt? Point is, I find it hard to believe you honestly think the most hardcore Kris fan is every bit as cray-cray as the most hardcore Glambert. Because really, while I dislike Adam Lambert immensely, I applaud him for his work with DonorsChoose.org and I don’t think he’s a terrible person.

If you’re referring to people who troll Adam Lambert articles and constantly bring up that he is gay, those aren’t Kris fans. Those are homophobes. Yes, there are overzealous Kris fans who buy multiple copies of their favorite’s album, and get defensive when Kris is criticized. They were probably the ones who attacked Chris Sligh for expressing his opinion about Kris’s performance at the NFC on Sunday. But Adam has fans who do the same too, AND MORE. They take it even further to say that Kris is doing this trip to Haiti for publicity. They send death threats to Kris’s mother over Twitter; harass one of Adam’s biggest journalist fans (Lyndsey Parker) when she writes anything remotely negative about Adam or remotely positive about Kris. And you’re telling me you’re seeing the same level of cray-cray?

I think there are two kinds of publicity when it comes to charity, and perhaps no one has entirely pure intentions, but I do think there are many individuals with purer intentions than others. George Clooney and Brad Pitt, for example, I think they are out to help people. Even Bono and his ego is fairly genuine when it comes down to it. Other people, like say, Tom Cruise or Madonna, it always seems entirely self serving.

          1) you want to draw publicity to a particular cause you feel strongly about
          2) you want to draw publicity to yourself being an uber-do-gooder

I think that when people think of “missions” it’s always a misconception that they are trying to convert people into some sort of religion. Sometimes the mission is just to help those in need. I’ve been on a few missions in the Philippines and religion was not forced down people’s throats. Yes, there was the inclusion of prayer and reading bible stories to the little kids, but that was about the extent of the religious stuff. They were not forced to participate in these activities either.

I’m not religious, so I’m not big on trying to influence people in that aspect, but I can personally tell you firsthand that these missions do more good than harm and that religion is not the one and only objective.

I don’t think Adam did the Donor’s Choose for publicity, but you have to admit that Adam has done things for the publicity and attention in the recent past, so people who think that aren’t just pulling the idea out of thin air. As opposed to the idea that Kris is doing this publicity or that he doesn’t know what he’s doing. Despite Kris’ long history of aid work and him barely mentioning it once on a local NOLA radio station.

Every (yes each and every) fan group launches campaigns for their favorite’s video to get to the top of VH1. Every (yes each and every) fan thinks their “idol” deserves to be on top. Some (yes only some) don’t understand why their favorite didn’t get on top despite their voting. There’s much more that plays into what gets on top. I’d have to say availability to be on the show plays into it in some respect.

While I’m neither an Adam or Kris fan, I’d lie if I said that I wasn’t rooting for Kris to kill Adam with sales. This comes from the fact that Adam seems to be the chosen child coupled with the fact that I honestly think Kris is the better musician. I have a truly difficult time getting into someone who only wants to be famous. I want to hear artistry,,,Adan can’t bother with that concept while being rolled up in the red carpets to make sure he’s at every fricking one.

Lauren and old bat: I think that the reason “fame whore” keeps getting thrown at Adam is because people do think a lot of the stuff he does is very PR-driven. His “provocative” pictures for DETAILS magazine, his AMAs performance, SAG awards appearance, and now Red Carpet correspondent for the Grammys, etc. It doesn’t help that he’s best buds with Perez Hilton and is being pimped on his site incessantly. Basically, to a lot of the commenters here (I won’t speak for everyone, but for myself only) a lot of the stuff Adam does seems to coincide with most people who get labeled a fame whore. You can disagree, and that’s definitely fine.

With regards to the Donors Choose thing, for the most part we’re in agreement that what Adam did was a good thing, and I personally don’t think it was for PR. I think he just wanted to channel his fans’ enthusiasm to a positive place and good for him. I certainly don’t agree that he only did it for PR.

My point is: People are getting angry that Kris is getting called a fame whore, when there is absolutely no reason he would do something like a trip to Haiti for publicity. There is more reason that goes AGAINST this “fame whore” thing, and yet the BSC fans choose not to accept it. They completely dismiss his previous humanitarian efforts, call him irresponsible for making this decision, and then say he’s only doing it to get PR for his “poorly-selling album”. That just isn’t reasonable. It JUST so happens that most of the people calling Kris a fame whore for the Haiti trip are Glamberts. Which is why I think the hypocrisy is being discussed here.

Some of the commenters here might think that calling Adam a fame whore is warranted, and they may have their legitimate reasons (as I enumerated above). I personally just don’t see legitimate reasons for calling Kris a fame whore. Call him boring, call him a bad interview, complain that he’s going bald, or that he’s not a good performer, whatever. I just don’t think calling him a fame whore even remotely makes sense, especially not when the event in question is a trip to Haiti to help people out.

          • old bat permalink
            January 27, 2010 7:11 pm

See, I do think Adam loves attention. It’s not a bad thing, per se, and he’s rather charming about it. And of course the last thing you can legitimately call Kris is “attention-seeking”. And the Glambert attack on Kris’s… Krisness… has been frankly insane this past week.

However. That is not a reason to attack Adam. And I am not saying that you are, but many have done so in this thread, under the flag of “in defense of poor Kris”. That is what I find objectionable. I don’t think a number of them give a shit about Kris. They just want any excuse to slam Adam.

            • Starr permalink
              January 27, 2010 8:15 pm

Gotcha. I think to some it’s like:

“Kris is a fame whore? Who said this?”
              “Adam fans.”
              “Adam fans? Of all people?”

So it might be difficult for most to separate their opinions of Adam’s cray cray fans with their opinions for Adam. I agree that the conversation has run off a tangent and become an Adam conversation, and I do agree that it shouldn’t. If this were another thread, say about Adam, would you allow these same commenters to express their opinions about him, positive or negative? Because I think that the good thing about the convo here is that although there are slams on Adam, they are slams based on the choices he has made with his career. Notice that we don’t have a lot of those vitriolic comments about his sexual orientation. And I think those are legitimate questions and criticisms. If one were to bring up Kris’s ineloquence in interviews, or Kris as a boring performer, I would not be offended with that either.

My comment wasn’t directed at you Starr. We all obviously can agree that Kris is not a famewhore. That is just the BSC Glamberts being BSC. Where we disagree is that I wouldn’t exactly call Adam a famewhore. Sure, he does desire fame much more than Kris but as Old Bat says, that is not necessarily a bad thing. It’s fine to think Adam’s a famewhore, but don’t use it to defend Kris or at least don’t say DonorsChoose was PR. I know you haven’t, but a couple others have.

Maybe it has to do with our preferences. I personally don’t like a lot of the “Hollywood” crowd. I’m not a fan of people who feel like they need to be at every red carpet event even if they are not relevant to the event. To me, one could be doing better things. If I were Adam’s record label and management, I would be kicking myself right now, because they really mishandled Adam’s introduction to the rest of America (outside of the bubble). He could have been really big. Instead, they relied on a lot of the hype surrounding Adam and as a result he is still a polarizing artist. I went off topic, didn’t I?

Anyway, I agree with what you’re saying. I don’t think it’s fair to criticize Adam’s Donor’s Choose work while defending Kris’s choice to go to Haiti.

I was the one who posted about people searching for “Chris Allen” after Kris’ fine rendition of the National Anthem. I just thought it was funny – and encouraging in a way – that people were looking him up after his performance even though they couldn’t spell his name right.)

One of the most telling things to me is that Glamberts were criticizing Kris’ humanitarian efforts even when there are almost no known details about Kris’ trip. Not that I can think of any detail that would make the trip criticizable rather than commendable but it just shows that the crazies don’t need or care about facts to form an attack.

I am convinced that the supposed Kristard campaign to get him to the top of VH-1’s countdown is just as much of an urban myth as Big Foot, Liz Claiborne saying something racist on Oprah, Lincoln’s brain floating in a jar on a ship in the Potomac, somebody waking up in a hotel room without a liver, Chick-Fil-A buying the AI finale outcome, or Kris fans going around the internet on a slash-and-burn campaign to say homophobic things about Adam.

About 90% of kids who do things they’re not supposed to point to somebody else and whine, “But she did it first!” And most of them are lying. I simply do not buy that Kris fans are even a fraction as bad as the Glamberts. Even the worst ones.

And why would Kris fans glop up TWoP to push Kris’s forum to page 4? That makes no sense. For the same reason, I am guessing that the fans of Cook, Carrie, Elliott, Katharine McPhee, J-Hud and Taylor Hicks are cleared, since they’re all down there with Kris, unlike Adam, Gokey or Allison, who are at the top. All in all, blaming Kris fans sounds like the usual “Not me — him!” deflect and deny campaign that comes from six-year-olds. Whoever starcrash, jas89 and Dramatista are — those would be your conspirators.

Meanwhile, somebody at TWoP has figured something out, because the threads that were bumped up are going back to oblivion again and Kris’s locked thread is on page 2 again.

    “cheap publicity stunt”

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA? Is this Glamturd serious? One acronym: AMAs. The ultimate face-raping, over the top publicity stunt. Adam Lambert is THE definition of famewhore. Where has his support been for Haiti? Gay rights? World AIDS Day? Exactly, I really think he doesn’t give a flying fuck about anything or anybody but his pathetic career.

I like Mandy Pantikin. Criminal Minds is one of my favorite TV shows, and I LOVE The Princess Bride. Guess what? He’s a douchebag. Guess what? I don’t really give a shit because his life doesn’t affect mine and I choose to enjoy his roles. That’s the part I don’t understand about AI “super” fans–you make these men walk on water. They aren’t saints.

I think Glamberts are even more vicious now, because Kris Allen is starting to pick up a lot of momentum–his song is getting more and more radio play, which doesn’t translate to success always, but it’s actual musical momentum and not PR stunts like Lamebert.

Excellent post! I never thought the Cooktards would look sane by comparison to the Glamberts . Congratulations!

for fk sake, its not like kris is renting a dingy and arriving on the shores of Haiti by himself. he is working with an organization, and i am positive his agency/manager are handling it to make sure he doesnt get in the way….this is NOT the first time a person (not just kris) goes into a crisis to volunteer. yes, there are civilians who do get in the way (by going about it the wrong way),but that doesnt mean the other (legit) volunteers arent needed or wanted.

plus, who knows the extent of his trip and what he was told he could do? maybe the initial offering was to help with rebuilding, but now they might want him to stay away for a few more days/weeks until they pull all of the bodies from the rubble. again, who knows the exact circumstance of his mission? and since nobody can answer honesty, i suggest they STFU.

oh, how i wish these cows (and other random trailer trash online trolls) would have the nerve to say this to kris’ face or any other celebrity volunteer. bottom line, i applaud any person who donates their money and/or time.
