Glamberts wait “in line” for Fantasy Springs Casino tickets

January 30, 2010

I seriously hope this is my last Adam Lambert post of the weekend, however, when certain things fall into one’s lap…

This morning, tickets went on sale for Lambert’s upcoming Fantasy Springs show. Because it is obviously a very rock & roll thing to do, a smattering of Glamberts showed up outside the casino doors before the box office opened.

I’m not quite sure why anyone would stand outside a casino waiting for the box office to open when they could simply purchase tickets online. I assume they believed the tickets would sell out in minutes. But, hey, we all know voracious Idol fans love standing/sitting in unnecessary linesΒ  I think Fantasy Springs was kind of surprised, too, so they went out to interview this “line”…which is really only a line in checkout lane terms. Or maybe at T.J. Maxx on a Monday night during the first week of December.

Thank you, Fantasy Springs!

He’s the new Elvis.

I wanna see him rock out.

I feel sooooo bad for the poor pepaw who was forced to accompany his wife on this little Friday morning excursion. Granted, my mom drags my dad to the casino at 9am but she’s going there to gamble, dammit! I’ve gone with her at 9am before just so I could pocket $100 and I end up playing black jack with everyone who just got off the night shift. It’s oddly both cathartic and disturbing, but that’s another story for another day.

Of course, it was his birthday…so it wouldn’t be complete without a proper birthday greeting!

Happy Birthday Adam on 12seconds.tv

And this really is my last Adam Lambert-related post until at least next week.

(A special thanks to Mysterioso, who in fact, is not an overweight 52-year-old.)

Heh. This one seems like another sort of multiple personality disorder/sockpuppets type. In the Amazon “reviews”, all written exactly in the two? authors style, is a fan just like “them?”, a husband of another fan just like them, and one claiming to be not so interested, but just happened to post a review of the self published book because they randomly stumbled upon it and spent $19.95 plus shipping?

I found the link posted at MJs in the cryptkeeper Clive Davis thread. She may have removed the comment because I just went back and couldn’t find it. Total spam link to her blog, but she posted in third person raving about the two posters and authors, juneau and xena, as juneauxena, which was obviously her. She/they? also have new and used copies of the book listed on amazon at over $80 each. Odd since they just released it at $19.99, eh? It comes with an Adam style faux tattoo of the Eye of Horus πŸ˜›

It’s hard to say how many personalities are here, because so many glamtards are so batshit crazy they sound a lot alike.

Some older lady type named Trish Silver self-pubbed a romance novel with a fictional (and presumably straight) version of Clay Aiken. Wait for that next about AL, and the “author” will undoubtedly make him bi or straight or wooed away from his gayness by the love of the “author,” and a vampire or something. Werewolf? Something. Wait for it. It’s a step up from the dregs that are Xena and Juneau, but only a half-step.

I’m still sure Adam’s show will eventually sell out, but I must point out that Dave Cook’s 2 shows at the Atlantic City Borgata sold out in 14 minutes last year. I think that was when the fans were positive they’d never get into the college shows, so maybe a comparable level of desperation?

I read a little of that. One person claimed, before the tickets went on sale, that they already had 3000 calls. This sparkle cow probably didn’t get the sarcasm, and they probably just had been called all day long by the same 30 women asking questions.

There’s also a video on MJs of the making of Adam’s latest music video. When they shoot the scene where he’s coming out of a club he says the reenactment is just like real life, just that the people are better looking πŸ˜‰

So if there have been 1300 tickets sold so far, and people were buying six or seven at a clip, plus you can figure ebay or Stub Hub type people buying a few, thinking they can scalp them later… That means a few hundred fans actually bought tickets and that’s it?

I agree that Adam is having successes, and I am happy for him, but don’t you think the victories would be sweeter if you knew there wasn’t manipulation going on?

You know about the mass buying of the single and video, and I’m sure there was a mass spamming of the VH1 poll. I’d like to see him make it on his own. At some point the frauen are going to run out of money, and where will Adam be then?

Just as LLWD has been raising awareness for Kris outside of the Idol bubble, WWFM has been the same for Adam, albeit more slowly. All of the Idol alumni face the same problem, since the Idol fans desert everyone once the new season starts, and Adam seems to be doing fine so far.

Tonight, I had a Zipcar so I was listening to the radio. For the local Top 40 station, Live Like We’re Dying was used in their advertisement (you know the ones where they feature current popular songs and the artists) and they played Whataya Want From Me about 2 hours later.

So I think both are doing well, which is good.

In my humble opinion no, I don’t think “mass buying” detracts from what has been accomplished. I don’t believe “mass buying” is what’s driving these numbers; if that were the case he would have hit these marks with the FYE single. In fact, I suspect there was more frenzied duplicate buying with that single then with WWFM. I bought several copies of Adam’s album, but only 1 copy of WWFM video and no purchase of WWFM single. Every Artist has a fan base and all these fans contribute to the numbers. I believe they are all employing the same practices; the sparkle cows have not invented anything new.

So by process of deduction, new fans must be buying his single and video. I know he continues to gain more than 1,000 new followers on twitter everyday. The bump from Ellen and Oprah have also been very positive. Exposure is the key to success and he has been working very hard to keep himself visible.

        He deserves this success. πŸ™‚

All I can think is…you bought multiple copies of Adam’s album? Combine that with some of your tweets and…
          Just kidding!
I agree with you btw. There was definitely more of a buy-as-many-copies-as-you-can movement with FYE. The reason WWFM is doing well is because it isn’t be supported by the Glamberts alone like FYE was.

Yes, I own several copies. It is the least I can do considering all the non-purchased music of his that I have stolen/downloaded. I also gifted several copies. I would like to get the Japanese version of FYE because the artwork and packaging will be more elaborate.

These Glamberts had to find a new young gay man to lust after, since Clay Aiken isn’t touring now.

Apart from the dyed black hair, and gender assignment, what does Adam Lambert have to do with Elvis? Elvis had a beautiful lower range, and Adam doesn’t have one at all. I am no Elvis expert, but I strongly suspect he would have poked out his own eyes with a sharp stick, before resorting to falsetto to increase his vocal range.

Yeah, I kind of feel a little sorry for him, because at some point 19 and RCA’s insane amount of backing is going to stop if (and most likely when) he doesn’t click with the non fruen public. He’s Blake Lewis 2.0 with better acting skills and more label support. That’s all. He’s believing his hype and probably being advised poorly. I mean, it’s taken them forever to sort of tone down his god awful Liza meets Heat Miser look.

      • erinnthered permalink

Secret confession – around here anyway – I really like Blake’s albums. Both of them. It’s pop, but the music has a lot more depth to it than For Your Entertainment. It has an identity of its own. It sucks that he didn’t get real backing because there was good stuff on them. Thankfully he’s done well on the dance charts, which is more his genre.

Yeah, yeah, I know, he’s a tool. I don’t care. I just like the music.

        • January 31, 2010 9:41 am

Ha! I will co-confess. Apart from Adam, Blake has been the only other AI contestant that I really rooted for. Tho I never watched AI religiously, when I heard Blake I was really interested and kept watching the rest of the season. I have yet to hear the second album, but the first one I really enjoyed. I never really saw much else of him other than AI, which at face value he seemed ok, to understand why he is deemed a tool – but as it seems a concensus view round here I will bow to everyone’s superior knowledge.

Where in NY would it have been sold out? It would have to be a very small place. Obviously he was cancelled from Good Morning America because of the AMA fiasco, but they were going to do that show in that theater that had 700 seats. It is known on very good authority (from an Assoc. Producer at GMA) that only 300 of those seats were claimed. That was in NY City and right after Idol.

Knowing that right now this is his only solo tour so far, you would think that his fans would be banging into one another to get tickets. I could see if he had this long list of dates planned, that this place may not be easy for everyone, but he only has this one date.

Either way, considering that his fans say he is the Rock God and the next coming of Elvis, this concert should have been sold out in less than an hour. If even that long. Three other idols that performed at this casino had their shows sell out very, very fast.

Numbers don’t lie. First solo stop, 3600 seat venue and still not sold out?

You could not reserve seats at the GMA show, you had to show up. He would have easily packed that place. I was at the GMA concert in the summer and it was mostly Adam fans; many came from great distances. I thought only Hollysockpuppets had connections…hmmm.

Here is the seating policy from GMA regarding concerts at other locations:

“The show production is moved to another location in New York City. Most of the concerts are open to the public and you do not need a confirmation/tickets to attend. You will need to arrive at 6:00 a.m. and the concert ends at 9:00 a.m. “

    I am all for it.
Nobody over 30 should go to ANY concert…

It’s not about their age. It’s their behavior.

            No????? Really?
            Behavior?
How did they misbehaved?? Two older nice ladies that did not want to stay at home and do needlepoint?
Or they were computer illiterate and did not know how to buy online??
            Interesting…

            Yes!

            On the other hand..
I really love those comments suggesting connections to the “INDUSTRY”..
            Everybody here is an experts…
Remainds me of a friend of mine who worked as a check-in clerk at the airport.

Hmm, I can’t decide. Is it Tess or Q3?

Or has hwc decided to come out of his cave and grace us with his presence? I’d be honored to be slagged off by his high (ass)holiness.

                Shit..I shouldn’t drink all that coffee…
Anyway..it’s time to go back to my little village in Tragicistan.

Eh, I may come off as pompous, but at least I get to walk away from this exchange with my self respect intact.

Say it with me, “It’s just the internet.” and, “He’s just an American Idol contestant.

Lol. Moriarty? Do you think this is a blog full of Holly Sockpuppets? All one person attacking you in different ways? At least get your snarkers straight. You’re too easy a target, Pisuardess because you always come back for more.

That is just so great, though. I get that there is supposed to be some sort of irony thing, but are you sure you read the manual? You’re here, on a board mocking American Idol, saying people make you feel bad, and you call your self Polish Toilet Cleaning Lady?

Pisuardess, women lusting over guys who are old enough to be their sons or grandsons is just too freaky. You set yourselves up to be mocked and made fun of. I’ve read enough stories of these crazy-assed housewifes/stalkers who leave their families behind and fly across the country for an Idol’s concert, who would, most likely, puke at the sight of you. Don’t you realize, this is insane behavior?

That’s just idiotic. So, in two years, St. Adam shouldn’t attend any concerts either? Alrighty then.

I agree with you that ageism sucks. And it does come into play around here, and in a lot of places, although not in the drastic form that you suggest it does. It’s more of a subconscious bias thing. I have it too.

I didn’t know you could still do the line up thing to buy tickets. The last time I did that it was the late 90s (and I got soaked in the rain plus crappy seats). Then there was the horror of trying to call into Ticketmaster. I remember being on the phone with my friend’s credit card info while she was on another phone calling at the same time trying to get tickets.

Even with how crappy the Ticketmaster/Live Nation websites are I’d rather do that than camp out.

I refuse to watch videos of old ladies fawning over young, gay men….I used to do theatre with a woman who was in her mid-40s and divorced, who always had a young, gay man she obsessed over that was in the shows with us…(she mostly worked backstage). I think in 5 years she had about 5 different boys. I’m really surprised she hasn’t turned into a Sparkle Cow….or maybe she has, and I just haven’t paid attention to her screen name. : /

The place is boasting about how tickets are “selling out” quickly. I don’t have the photos, but I saw a photos of the people out there in line they were holding about 6 or 7 tickets each that they bought. The hell? Do you really know that many people who wanna go to the show?

They don’t realize going in person doesn’t give them the best seats, do they? For Cook’s tour at one of the venues, the tickets sold so fast online and via phone that only two people in the line at the venue box office got them before they were gone.

These Glamberts haven’t been to a concert in 25 years. Back in the day, this was how you did it; they don’t realize people nowadays order online.
